I really don't know what to do.i want the 150 but i also want to exchange for a better processor. i don't know how to keep both of these ( part of me being selfish ) I think i will have to talk to matt tomorrow.

I really don't mind waiting for long. I mind the 150 HAHA! i need that money to buy accessories and stuff.
and BTW those are gone in the outlet just when i'm about to put them in the cart geez.
-
guess someone was reading this thread cause its been in the outlet for a week almost. look again later it will probably be there again.
just keep what you have then and get a SSD and call it a day. I dont think you need a faster processor.
-
The "faster" processor really is not significantly better. If you don't need VT-d I wouldn't bother.
Also, not only will you likely lose the $150, but the higher processor is $150 more. That is $300 extra, and I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference if you don't go out of your way to benchmark and see the few hundred extra points on your score. -
another 4000++ laptop... awesome man.... ^_^
-
I've been watching the dell outlet but nothing seems to caught my eye. I love my alienware it's just that I'm so confuse with the processors. sighs.
you're right on that. Well i want to talk to my rep about this. i'm gonna ask him if i can keep the 150. and please him to death. i'll see tomorrow.
RE: I unboxed the laptop but now I'm packing it again lol. not enjoying doing this. -
someone will love your laptop when it hits delloutlet im sure
-
my brother wants to buy it! haha!
-
wanted to get back here and thank the OP!! finally got my dream LAPTOP a M14X and i followed the advice on the first post and i got the price from $ 1,647 to $1,476 out the door.
dunno how good i did but savings is savings... was on the phone for close to an 1hr and 30 mins whew... hopefully with the specs that i have, the money is worth it..
thanks again OP!!!
===
oopss guess spoke too soon.. just got confirmation email and looks like DELL is trying to recoup whatever price they knocked-off. specs i put in is not the same as the order they sent me to confirm. they switched the 900p display to a 720p display and the processor from a i7 2760 to a i7 2670. -
Well now you can really get some savings:
1. Call back
2. Demand you get what you asked for/were promised
3. ???
4. PROFIT!! -
WONDER if this was a good deal. OBVIOUSLY the rep and her BOSS took me for a moron and tried a BAIT and SWITCH. switched my DISPLAY and PROCESSOR specs and thought giving me a messenger bag would make up for it. geezz...

-
Niiiiice....
-
That is a pretty nasty delay...
-
waiting is pretty frustrating.
-
It's offered to members of the US military, You log into your Afees online ascount and purchase it through afees website. Then the order is sent to dell for the pruduction/delivery.
-
Guys. I'm reaaaalllyy satisfied with my beast. So I decided to keep it to gether with the 150 bucks. I also have a girl rep who was really nice and asked me if I'm upset, I said what can I do? I think I'll enjoy it in the long run AND GUESS WHAT? she will give me a free alienware keyboard! isn't that great? HAHA!
sharing my happiness with you guys.
-
you want to call in as me and get me a free keyboard too?
thanks. -
Good deal!
-
The rep knows me a lot so it would be impossible to do that but you might get in to her. i was directed to her twice. Just call the number same as Matt's office number.
-
you're pretty funny cat. I might get into her eh? lol. yikes!
-
HAHAHAHA! LOL! you're thinking of something else! LMAO!
I mean you might get in touch with her.
-
just to make sure and yes im going to sound like an idiot. if i order one of their laptops for $2855 will I will get 15%(its on their website) off it making it at $2427? will i get the 15% off if i call customer service? also when does the 15% off ends?
-
If you call an epp rep directly they can make you an offer. The discount is about 25% depending on how well you can talk to the rep.
Calling into the main number and getting a random rep will not get you much. Dell likes to reward referral sales, I guess. -
whats an epp rep? and what do you mean by "how well you can talk to the rep"?
-
dude a rep is the one you will call to make a deal. For example your budget is only $2000 and the laptop you wanted is $2400 then you can tell the rep if he can meet your budget with the specs you wanted.
-
thats possible? will it work all the time to get a $2400 laptop for $2000. do i need to call specific representative? this sounds very interesting
-
im also curious to know how you guys get U.S. based reps? or do you? me? i had to talk to a SMITA and a BHARAT who later tried a BAIT-AND-SWITCH on me to probably recoup whatever discount they gave me. was also pretty much surprised to see an free ORION messenger bag on my order... well, supposedly to cover up their BAIT-AND-SWITCH TACTIC.
i haggled for a:
Intel Core i7 2760QM 2.4GHz (3.5GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
14.0 High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
3.0GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio
Intel Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2
Which was originally pegged at $1,647 after taxes... got the setup out the door price of $1,476.
just wondering if I DID get a good deal for the $ 1,476 i paid for. -
I'm not sure if this is a really good deal but I try to calculate it and TO ME it's not that much. You could have gotten at a lower price.
-
Yes, that's absolutely possible. And if the rep can't meet that he will give you the lowest price as much as possible, you can even ask for some freebie.
-
kabayan!
so, would you suggest me cancelling and trying again? assuming i still would want the same specs? any tips? like say, rep number i can get hold of? hopefully not somebody from INDIA?
thanks...
wifey just found out, i got the DV6736NR up and running after a REFLOW and she's not happy and pouting like crazy.... -
HAHA! kababayan! well, you should try talking to a us rep first and see if he can beat the price. I have a us rep and I got my beast in my budget and when I tried cancelling it i got another 150 off and a free alienware tactx keyboard.
-
sent you PM kabayan...
-
kabayan, kabababababayan. waiting for the laptop is crazy. maybe i'll try the call in and cancel order trick to get more off
prob wont work since i already have 25% off.
-
omni, do you know what kababayan is? hahaha! I know. I have the laptop but it's still in the box isn't that crazy? haha!
-
nope. im guessin its phillipino?
why is it in the box? what are you sending it back now? -
Yeah you're right. That's a filipino thing
Nope. I'm keeping it. I'm just waiting for the cooling pad and keyboard.
-
so you're waiting for the cooling pad and keyboard to use your laptop? crazy.
-
yeah. HAHA. That's part of my CARE for my beast.
-
dont you have warranty? accidental? complete care? should use it. just put something to prop the back up to get more air for ventilation.
-
yeah. you're right. I'm planning on using it tomorrow to test it. I want to test it in 21 days so they will exchange it if there's something wrong. BTW what are the recommended drivers I have to update? And also anti-virus?
-
no idea. i dont run anti virus
drivers for sound card maybe. other than that might want to downgrade bios if you want to overclock.
-
really? like i can ask for a free video game?
-
I don't know about video games but I will definitely ask for a bag or game pad.
-
ok i'll try that. and whats this something about 25% if i call them up? someone mention this before
also can they ship to sri lanka if i called them up? -
Not everyone reach the 25% off from the rep unless you have the 25% coupon. It highly depends on how you deal with them.
I just don't know if they can ship to sri lanka. -
Could someone provide me a Dell sales contact? Ive been having trouble trying to... haggle.. with the folks at the alienware line. Im hoping to order a M18x here in the next month
