Sent a PM to you.

Just got off the phone with 2 sales rep and boy was the first one horrible -
wasn't even aware of Sager being a competitor so haggling in that area was out of the question.
Anyways so I was nice about it and told her to leave me her contact info. so I could reconsider - and that was probably mistake #1
When I called back and got a different rep. a much nicer person this time, seems he was going through the process of getting my ballpark price worked out but ended up somehow having to go through the prior sales rep.
I don't know if it's true or not, but he stated it was department policy that once a quote has been worked out you're kind of stuck with it from that rep.
How are you guys calling multiple times and getting different quotes
- Hang up the phone lol?
-
I'll tell the original rep to please cancell all tranactions...that way you get to start fresh.
-
calling from canada you get sent to out sourced sales reps, i just told them I don't want to talk to that rep again. They try to send you to that person's supervisor, but just tell them you just want to talk to a sales rep.
-
Would really appreciate that extension as well, ordering a well-loaded m17x r4 in the next few days.
-
How about giving me a rep who can discount an Alienware M18x Orion bag pack for me?
-
Any way to get around this fricking automated system?
-
Today, I try to haggle with 3 rep sale of Dell. As a result, I got $50 off and $200 Dell card for M17X with 7970M and 1080p. I haven't decided yet, but is it ok with that discount?
-
Hi guys, I'm completly new to this topic, so far I was sure I'm doomed to the listed price. I'm planning to purchase Alienware M14X R2 with the following configuration options:
OPERATING SYSTEM: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit edit
MEMORY: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz edit
HARD DRIVE: 500GB 7,200 RPM Storage + 64GB mSATA Boot Drive edit
VIDEO CARD: 2 GB DDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M with Optimus edit
LCD PANEL: 14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight edit
WIRELESS CARDS: Intel® Advanced-N WiFi Link 6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax and Bluetooth 4.0 edit
INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE: Slot Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW)
AUDIO OPTIONS: Alienware TactX Headset edit
WARRANTY AND SERVICE: 4 Year Advanced Plan edit
SECURITY SOFTWARE: No Anti-Virus Software Selected edit
WIRELESS DEVICES: Netgear PUSH2TV HD edit
The listed price for this is 2327$ (after $45 discount: $15 for GPU upgrade and $30 off Netgear PUSH2TV HD).
What is the best way to get a good discount for my purchase? I could try haggling with sales rep, but I'd rather avoid it, especially if there is a better way
-
I guess. I tried haggling like it was going out of style, but they barely budged. I guess they wised up. I got $100 off and 5% discount. It was still cheaper than the web, anyway.
-
Yup the 50 dollars and $200 dollar Dell gift card was pretty much the same thing I got - which seems pretty standard.
I think they are just simply putting the $50 web coupon you get on the site and tacking on the $200 gift card.
In the end I just went with Powernotebooks.com - no tax and the cash discount certainly helped.
-Just a suggestion and if you live in the states and tired of going through these reps.
-
I'm gonna consider about powernotebooks.com. Is that company reliable?
-
Yup, I just purchased my m17x from them - very nice people from the operators to the sales agents. I heard about them through the Sager subforums and found they did Alienware too. They look legit from the feedback there.
After going through a couple of sales rep from Dell and just not having them budge much I went with Powernotebooks in the end.
Oh ask about the NBR discount too for additional savings! -
What kind of discount is there for NBR? 2-3%?
-
Not sure if the folks at PNB would like me to publicize it or not - but I'll go ahead and PM you the info.
-
Send me,too. TY
-
Could you send me that too, please?
-
PM's sent
-

Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO for Gaming & Video and Bluetooth 4.0
Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
I got it for the final price of $1,797.76 including tax. how did I do?
The subtotal online price was $1,919.00 before tax. -
I'd say that's not too shabby.
Does anyone know how much lee-way sales reps have regarding warranties?
I'm looking at getting an m14xR2, and while Asus and MSI have 2-year warranties on their equivalent models, Dell's only got a 1-year on theirs.
I'm fine with the price I have at the moment, but does anyone know if the sales reps would be capable of keeping my price roughly the same but bumping it up to 2-year?
I mean, extended warranties are practically pure profit for the companies, since it rarely costs them anything, so I'd think they'd have some significant leeway there, but I don't know how Dell works. -
I've heard of a few people haggling their warranty. One guy even got a 3-year advanced thrown in but that is certainly not common.
-
I'm trying to find a decent price on a Dell 3 year warranty with accidental damage with little success. The cheapest quote I got for my M17x purchased through the AAFES deal was $420 for one additional year or $700 for two additional years -- both of which seem quite high.
Has anyone had good luck buying a Dell warranty after the fact? If so, could you please PM me the rep's contact info? I'd really appreciate it!

i have a small question is it posable to get the student discount if your still in high school i ask as i figure that most people that buy are in collage
and wow i see alot you guys are getting 150+ off haha -
Just to follow-up, I tried haggling the warranty when I ordered my M14XR2 and they weren't budging. I did get about $60 off the EPP price though, so about $100 savings total.
-
I called to check the price of upgrading my warranty on saturday before memorial day, and the guy told me $900 for 3 years advanced warranty, but I was really calling to just check the price so I was trying to turn down offer and end the call politely, but the guy kept giving discounts and eventually got it down to $550, but I wasn't looking to buy that day. Rep said there were some deals going on that memorial day weekend which is why he said he can discount the warranty so much, so for people looking for discounts on warrany upgrade/extension perhaps try near a holiday.
-
HI guys, Ive been trying to buy an m17x configured at around $2,300 but I cant seem to get a discount on it. Ive called and talked to 4 different reps and the best discount i was given was like $15
Can anyone offer me some help, or pm me the contact info for a good US rep. I searched the forums and tried to implement all the haggling tips but it seems like they don't want to budge. Thanks.
-
I cant get any kind of discount either.
Dell is really sneaky too, my wife gets 2% off from her company, but it won't let you stack any other % off coupons if you try to checkout from the employee cart. -
Ya, same with me. Dell's only giving me like 1% off for my EPP discount. Hope they have better promotions for next month.
-
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
gave me my general motors discount no problem, 20% off for me
-
20% dang that would be nice mines priced around 2400 and that's not with the 680m which I will get when they release it
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3D -
Get a quote on an identically outfitted Sager from Xotic PC. Then tell Alienware they need to match it or you're walking. If they don't match it (or at least give you a decent discount)...buy the Sager.
-
Are Sager cheaper? If so I'll do that as well when I get mine haha
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3D -
Typically they're cheaper.
-
My similarly configured (higher RAM) NP9150 was priced to ship at about 250 cheaper than a discounted(23%)/shipped M17x. I don't see AW matching a Sager in pricing, but they can get fairly close so it's sorta whichever you prefer. Personally I don't trust Dell as they have wronged/treated me very poorly in the past so with Sager being cheaper it wasn't that difficult of a choice.
-
What happened to everyone being so upset at Sager/Clevo for not supporting their machines after ~14 months, leaving users unable up upgrade their GPUs to the next gen, even though they should be compatible? why then go ahead and recommend someone else walk into the same problem? Unless, of course, it's not a problem for some - and I can certainly understand why it might not be for some. I would be pissed though.
Personally, an extra hundred or two is worth having that extended life span to me, so I can upgrade mine later this year. Heck, I could do it now if I had the extra cash.
Haggle with them, it works. The longer you hold out and the better your arguments the better it works. I didn't try half as hard as I might have and got mine down to about $60 over the cost of an identical Sager, and then got them to throw in a free cooling pad to sweeten the deal.
I didn't try the 'call back a couple weeks later and threaten to send it back to get more money credited back to you' trick, but I've seen many posts claiming it works. -
Yeah, what I did was this. I configured the laptop and saved it in my cart on the dell site. I applied the coupons I could find, which was about 9% off. Then I called alienware and got an outsourced rep
I told him I was I thinking about buying the aw, but it was super expensive and I was deciding between the aw and a sager that was like $1000 cheaper. He said "how much of a discount you want" and I said "15%"
He kind of laughed at me, and said under no circumstances was he able to do this. I have absolutely the best deal possible with the coupons.
Then I said "well, okay thanks for your time" and got another 2% and then he knocked off $50, and then he knocked off $50 again.
I suppose if I persisted and drew it out, I might have been able to get it lower. But w/e, I was pretty close to my target. -

it was a hassle...
and long time to deal with...
i am thinking of upgrading to killer wireless....
i have no clue how good it is, but if i connect from wifi source it will be better than standard issue wireless card that i have now?? -
M18x R2 is better than a cheap crappy car for 5.000$
-
The killer wireless is a great upgrade. I'm very happy with it. 15MB/s+ connected to my E4200 linksys. The other thing to consider is the warranty... And, an extra 330W brick.
-
How did you get a 9% coupon code, Ive been looking around and the best i could find was $50 off. Did you purchase the new ivy bridge alienware, or was it one of the old ones?

-
Upgrading a laptop is far from being economically efficient, for example it costs well over $1k to put Xfire 7970's in your laptop. Compare that to purchasing a new Xfire setup at just over $2k and things start to not add up.
You don't buy a laptop to upgrade (sensible/intelligent people don't anyway), you buy it for what it is and if it happens to be upgradeable well then that's great but to pay extra based upon that isn't the wisest decision imo
-
Of course, there are components that are cost-effective to upgrade. Unfortunately, those are generally the ones that are interchangeable with desktop PCs (RAM, hard disk, etc.). I generally counsel people to save the money they would spend upgrading their video card and instead spend it on their next laptop purchase.
