No telling how long. It could be a while. That's a new product and until they have some system returns they won't have any in the Dell Outlet.

Oh well. My only make concerns about the outlet is if I can haggle or not and the freaking eBay resellers who by up everything as soon as it always.

The same warranty is also offered on outlet models right?

Yes, should be the same warranty as long as it is a certified refurbished. Not sure about the scratch and dent warranty. You might be able to negotiate a deal on a new one that matches or beats the Outlet price.

I second this, all I seem to get are Indian reps, most don't know much at all and are impossible to haggle with! :(

Thats really annoying. What spec did you have built? If it was with the 780m, it could be they're out of stock and perhaps waiting for the 880m... did you call and find out why?

    Hey guys.

I ordered an AW back in 2011, and I remember this thread being really active back then, but it looks like it has tapered off. Is calling Dell still the way to go if we're interested in a machine? Or is it better to consider alternative options now? Been out of the loop since the M17R3's came out...

@eXtremeBurrito I myself would call a Dell Premier rep for the best deals. When I ordered my M18x, I built it the way I wanted it, added it to my carry, then started calling for the best price. Engender it doesn't hurt to call several times..... because your not sure you want to spend "that" kind of money. You will find a rep that will actually search for various discounts to combine and voila. Remember, you can get the reps to work against each other to get the best price. Buying a basic computer is one thing, but a high end unit is another. What are you looking to buy? I'm not sold on the new design of the 17 or 18. I'm looking to get an outlet m17x r4.

Wow! This was a lot of great info.

I am military, so I do use EPP pricing. AAFES doesn't charge tax, but Dell gives some bigger discounts on their site. www.dell.com/lackland is the base I am at. I think anyone can use the link as long as they are in the military community.

I do have a few 10% coupon codes that I received due to my volunteer work at the base. These take 10% off of 5 Dell items in your cart. I used the one, but I have these ones left:

    4LBKGLQ?145TD5
    MGKFSTVKGV10FL
    9LDVC0WF5L6H2M
    J6WQ7KC$5B429N
    R3VD1LJM8DKV31

Military Members, While AAFES offers some great deals, they are not always the cheapest. My best advice is to price out both. Unfortunately you cannot haggle on the AAFES website. Check the prices of both and then try to beat that price with an EPP sales rep. That AAFES price should be your goal. You can also tell the dell rep that it's that price on the AAFES site for military members. This can give you some leverage to negotiate with a sales rep since they will not get a commission if you order the AAFES. ;)

Dayum .. all the OGs is starting to pop up. lol Last time I was here was back when I had the m18x R2 ...

Now I'm back with M18x R2 , AW 18 , a few of M17x-R2s ... lmao ..I cant seem to get away from AW. I love AW laptop.

    Now on the subject.

Order from the OUTLET when they have those 20% - 30% off coupon. Outlet laptops get discounted off MSRP , plus add the coupon , You will come out a winner. I have said this before. You will get same warranty as buying new AW. It's a no brainer.

How would I go about combining a personal coupon code with one of the previous mention options? For example, could I haggle the price down over the phone (or chat) and then apply the coupon online, or are phone sales only done over the phone?

For that price, you can get a Clevo P870DM with a Skylake desktop processor which won't bottleneck the GPU's like the 4710MQ, a much cooler looking machine and has no LCD bricking problems like the AW18 with NVIDIA and latest cards...

Thanks I was thinking of a Clevo or MSI. I have had an Alienware m17x R3 since 2011 and it has been good for what it is. I was hoping Alienware had solved its recent issues. Thanks for the heads up. I will go with Clevo or MSI.

I know this post is kind of late but can you experts please help me out?
I'm trying to get a dell xps 13, and i've read through the posts here and i've come to the conclusion that its best to call dell and talk with a sales rep. The only problem I have is that every time I call I get someone whose not a US rep, and when i ask them for a us rep they tell me to hold on for a second and they come back with a different voice and suddenly have an American name. I've called more than 20 times but still have had no luck. Any tips?

I did get a dell xps non touch, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd, 6th gen i5 processor down to about $870 w/o taxes from the original 1099.99 base price. I don't know if thats a good deal or not. but its the lowest i've gotten and this was through chat. Please help me out :) I'm stuck with a dinosaur laptop for now .
    Thanks!

The best deal is to buy it from Dell Outlet. They have coupons ranging from 20% - 35%, sometimes 40% off the already REDUCED clearance/refurbished/scratch and dent price. As I have mentioned before , It comes with the same warranty as if it was bought new.

The other place to buy is waiting for a good deal off eBay. In eBay, you will get mostly US seller and will understand you more when communicating. On top of that , You can even ask the seller for a discount.

That is the only two places where I have bought all of my laptops.
