Anyone have a referral for a sales rep?

    I have EPP through work.

I'm thinking about an Alienware 17. I'm in the US.

    BTW- I'm switching from Mac/OS X. 1st Windows laptop.

    Thanks!

    Fantastic thread!

Just placed my order on the phone.

    Got a fully loaded Alienware 17 (4900, 32GB, SSD, 780M, 120Hz screen, Win8Pro, 3yr Warranty/Damage), plus 2nd day shipping for $3.5k!

$500 off by making a phone call.

Now I have to learn to stop hitting 'refresh' on my order status page. :)

Any recent Canadian reps that worked out for anyone?

My Business rep that I deal with all of the time referred me to a normal home/personal sales rep but the guy wouldn't even give me the $50 off.

Would appreciate a PM if anyone has a Canadian rep, thanks.

Tried a few chat sales and one of them passed me to a phone call with their supervisor.

What do you guys think about this?

    i7-4800
    16GB
    780M
    120hz/3d
    750GB+80GB caching SSD
    2 year support
    2 year damage protection

    $3096 tax inc

It's about $340 off, I'm not sure... haven't had any luck at all so far so I don't know if I can get better. I kept insisting my budget is $2750, which it isn't, but I would like it to be that much as it comparable to the ASUS G750JH-DB72-CA + tax + warranty. He suggested lowering the warranty/damage to 2 years instead of 3, and then gave the extra discount. Should I insist on 3 years? I don't just mean from a pricing perspective, but would you guys be uncomfortable getting getting 2 years instead of 3? The consensus here seems to be to get as much warranty as possible. I'd like to use the laptop for 2-3 years and then upgrade the GPU/CPU it is possible at the time.

I got the same thing for 2550 with second day shipping but only one year coverage. Take it as you want but youre overpaying imo. You get 5% back on a dell rewards card, which im going to use to up the warranty when it comes. From my understanding if its within 30 day period the price for the warranty does not increase

I read the first 50 posts from 2010 before attempting to negotiate for a better price on an Alienware 14. The configuration:

    1 Alienware 14 : Standard Base $2,407.00
    1 Memory : 16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz
    1 English Keyboard
    1 Graphics : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5
    1 WLAN Killer 1202 Driver
    1 256GB mSATA Boot + 750GB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s
    1 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, English
    1 Optical Drive : Slot-Loading 8x SuperMulti Drive (DVD/R/RW)
    1 Killer NIC 1202 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0
    1 US 110V Power Cord
    1 Documentation, English
1 Premium Phone Support, 3 Year Extended
    1 4 Year Limited Warranty
1 Premium Phone Support, Initial Year
1 Dell Hardware Warranty Plus On-Site Service, Initial Year
1 Dell Hardware Warranty Plus On-Site Service, Extended Year(s)
1 In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis, Parts and Labor On-Site Response, Initial Year
1 In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis, Parts and Labor On-Site Response, 3 Year Extended
1 Accidental Damage Service, 4 Years
    1 4th Generation Intel(R)Core(TM)i7-4700MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Intel(R)Turbo Boost)
    1 14.0 inch (355.6 mm) WLED FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare Display
    1 Battery : Primary 6-cell 69W/HR
1 Power Supply : Alienware 150W AC Adapter
    1 Anodized Aluminum
1 Software Alienware Command Center 3.0
    1 Resource DVD
1 Windows 7 Label, OptiPlex, Fixed Precision, Vostro Desktop
    1 Placemat (English)
1 Software: Microsoft Office 2013 Trial

This came out to $2407.00 before taxes and with no coupons applied. I was able to get it down to $1895.95 before taxes. After taxes it was $1969.48 and I also got 2nd business day free shipping and a 5% rebate on the laptop. I'm going to call them and ask to be upgraded to NBD because I will be going out of town. How did I do? Anything else I should try? I appreciate the help.

Hmm, actually when you add in the 2 year enhanced support + damage protection which is $495 Canadian after tax it's about the same as your standard warranty quote. He said there is 30 day price protection as well, so I guess if something better comes up for Black Friday I can get it matched.

Do you have to ask for the 5% reward card or do they tell you about it? I'll probably use it for an AC router.

Should come standard but ask just incase? The point is unless you intend to use that 5% on something else (it has 90 day expiration I believe) its better to short a year on the warranty and use the rewards card to add it later.

Ok thanks, I'll make sure I ask about it then. I'm not too concerned about the 5% card expiring. I currently am stuck using wireless in one of the rooms of my apartment and it is on an old DGL-4300 that I would like to get rid of. I'm in a 3 floor apartment (6 units) with houses on either side and I can see at least 10 wireless networks at any given time. Either the DGL-4300 is dying or there is so much interference that just to maintain a reasonable wireless connection I need to drop my own wireless network down to 802.11b channel 1, otherwise I get constant packet loss and 500ms latency just to the wireless router. When I set the router to g mode the connection is so slow/unreliable that it isn't even usable for internet browsing. The modems that our ISPs give us in Canada are the cheapest pieces of junk, and I have no doubt that all of the ones nearby are affecting it somehow. Hoping that upgrading to ac (maybe the R6300?) will get me out of this mess.

Any thoughts on my recent Alienware 14 order? I including the 5% rebate I managed to save $605.84 before taxes and also got free 2nd business day shipping. While it's still in production should I try anything else?

Btw the easiest and cheapest way to increase you signal strength at home, is to simply take a plate size piece of foil bend it into a sort of half pipe ( shape and put it in front of your router/antenna. Usually works much better than any router upgrade. You would need a dedicated repeater to compete :) I live in the city so every freq and channel is usually taken :(

The 5% rebate is actually a 5% gift card on a future purchase, which is still good. I placed the order. My Alienware 14 should be here by November 11.

Seems like they are more open to negotiating on the 14 and 17 then the 18...It's been tough to get them to budge more than $300 on the 780m SLI 18 config.

    Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy 2 Alienware laptops for my family , 1 from Dell US Outlet, and 1 from Dell US Store ( basic hardware). I don't know if I could get a good deal for it, or there is anyway that I can save money from. Thank you in advance!

Hey guys, I have been managing (more like struggling) with my ancient XPS M1710 for the past many years and am now ready for the Alienware 18.

I want to buy the very bare base model and my total budget including tax is $2000.

One thing I need to add the Blu-Ray drive unit, which is not offered on the base model, how lame! Dell told me the price is $100 for the unit, so not bad...

The base list price of the cheapest Alienware 18 is $2099, so add the blu-ray and we get $2199.
I need to get my total price to $1825 (pre-CA tax), so I would need to push for a 17% discount off the $2199 list price ($374 discount).

I wanted to ask you guys two things:

    1. Do you think 17% haggling off list price is achievable?

    2. I am not in a hurry to buy this laptop, but I want to place my order no later than the middle of January 2014. Do you think there is a chance that the list price of the Alienware 18 will drop after the holiday season?

I've called dell and the rep said he put in an expedite request and said he would have given me next day shipping for free if my order wasn't in the final stages. How likely is it that my order will actually be cleared for expedition? Spoke to a non-US rep if that makes a difference.

Tried using Dell chat support and calling multiple times (4) and every time they just quote me the full price, and then when I try to talk to them about discounts they just "hook me up" with $50 or $100 off a $2K+ build after talking to their boss. Doesn't seem like they are really interested in bargaining anymore. They said they would call me back later but I'm not holding my breath.

I just tried Dell Outlet, found a really nice 18, but they won't budge on price either, they just tell me to do 30% off on R2 if I want a discount *sigh*

If it was even just 20% I would buy it today from them

Now I'll just wait for a coupon, but once its started I'll lose out to some vendor selling them on ebay who snatches them all up in 30 seconds after the coupon is posted

I had no luck with any coupons, haggling or anything...until I emailed Baris!

    Alienware 18:
    4800MQ
    16GB RAM
    780M SLI
    256GB SSD + 750GB HD
    Blu-Ray drive

Was a $4500 system after taxes and shipping, but final price with Baris with 2 day shipping was $3880 (if you subtract the $200 gift card) a total savings of $620!

I tried a few chats and ended up getting one of them to pass me off to someone else. In the end, I ended up with:

    Alienware 17
    4800MQ
    16GB RAM
    GTX 780M
    80GB mSATA SSD + 750GB HD
    Blu-Ray
    120hz/3D
    3 Year Enhanced Support
    3 Year Warranty

for $3,332.92 (CDN) tax inc which was about $400 off, so not bad I guess. Better than anything else I could get, including the rep that my business sales rep for work passed me to. I couldn't get next business day shipping though... he told me there is no reason or no such thing? Wouldn't even let me pay for it. Is it just because of my location (Ottawa), maybe I'm 1-2 days ground from the warehouse or something.

I ordered on Oct 31 and my order status still says In Production. Then I dumped another $900 on Newegg for the AC66U and 1TB EVO and the poor EVO is just sitting on my desk tormenting me. I'm losing my mind. BF4 and CoD are out and I can't play either AUGHDJKGHKJ

I had to register here just to post this, but I really wanted to give a big shout out to all the folks in this thread. Thank you very much for lighting the way to big savings with Dell/AW as this system is still very much alive and kicking!!!

    Just purchased my beastie!

    AW 17
    i7 4800mq
    gtx 780m
    3d 120hz screen
    256gb msata + 750gb hd
    1 yr warranty
    1 yr accidental

As specced = $3230.88 after taxes
My price = $2399.92 after taxes

Again, THANK YOU all! Also, it's worth mentioning that this took 4 calls on the same quote, but it works!

anyone else having troubles with getting the Dell gift card they were supposed to get with purchase?

I used my Dell Preferred Account but they screwed up and sent me a 5% back one instead of 10% and it's been impossible to get it fixed, I called the number and they referred me to the sales guy who placed the order for me

he hasn't emailed me back in almost a month now and I have no idea who to contact since it seems to be an endless circle of incompetence which has me quite upset because I was hoping to use this gift card towards the Black Friday sales and that is definitely not going to be possible now

I ordered my 17 on October 31, received November 18. I have not received or even heard anything about my 5% gift card yet and was told originally I get should it about 25 days after ordering.

I too tried haggling over phone and chat, but since there was already a Cyber Monday sale I was simply getting 'That's the sale price you see on the site sir' kinda responses. Then just after 1PM EST Baris replies to an email with a quote made by another sales rep. And, Baris rocks!!!
I got a similar quote today during the Cyber Monday sale @Alienware for $1950+taxes.
Thank you so so much for sharing his contact info.
Made me realise my 5 year dream of owning an Alienware. :)
I'm really grateful to this forum.

Does anyone know anyone of any Dell Representatives I can call in Canada to get a deal?

Hey guys, I'm likely going to order the XPS 15 at the end of the month or before February 5. I'm looking at the mid-tier model for $1949.99. With the discount from the student site it's $1910.99.

I have a Dell Advantage account for 5% back. There is also a current coupon for $50 off any purchase $600+. Are there any more discounts available?

How feasible do you think it'd be to get (or VERY close to) 30% off the original retail price? How would mentioning the above discounts affect my haggling success with a rep? I REALLY want this.

I mean I have enough money to buy it with a 10% discount but I don't want to drain my account and I don't want to wait until next month because I need a computer asap (I mean I don't want to wait into March to get it).

Advice? Willing to call as many reps as possible to see if I can get 30%.

I would recommend looking at the Dell Outlet for the best deals with 30 - 40% off retail prices.
The laptops that I have purchased have all been delivered in like new condition with a full warranty.
Here are a few examples of the current XPS 15 models available: Dell Factory Outlet

I did check out the outlet store but I actually want the XPS 15 9530 but only the last gen is on the site. How long does it take for newer products to end up on the outlet?
