oh yes, i see that, so the M11X R3 has no LED on the TouchPad? i never know about that, and the M11X R3 Keyboard light is Merged right?, i mean it's not the same as M14,M15,M17, and M18?
But anyway, have you tried it? just want to know how it goes =)

That is correct, the entire keyboard is one zone and can only be one colour as opposed to having two or three different areas that are customizable like in the larger models.

I've gotten passed the two errors that come up when attempting to start the plugin by creating a dummy alienfx_vis_devices.xml file, but of course the file doesn't actually contain any correct codes for their corresponding LEDs so I still can't actually use the plugin until I figure out what I'm doing wrong with the LED tester script or find out what the LED codes are.

I'm trying to wait as patiently as possible for someone here to come and help me but I'm getting rather anxious xD

Is it possible that the codes for the LEDs on the M11xR3 are just completely different from the ones being tested on the script? Or is it just that the script doesn't have access to my alienfx and is unable to disable the LEDs?

It seems the script couldn't access my LEDs for some reason, however I've manually tested all the LED codes using the plugin by entering in all the LED codes available into the alienfx_vis_devices.xml and enabling each one one at a time in the actual plugin. For anyone else that needs the M11xR3 devices file, I've attached the file down below.

Note that the "Control" is the area where the wifi light and caps lock light are, I wasn't sure what everyone else was calling it but that's what I put. Feel free to change it to whatever suits yourself.

So the LED codes I have are working for my alienfx_vis_devices.xml, however, now I'm having problems with the actual plugin running properly. It worked for the first little while but now it'll just light up one colour on the first beat and freeze up.
I've tried going dark and then light but it just does the same thing again. On occasion it will start working again but only temporarily (ranges from about 10-30 seconds).
I've also tried restarting Winamp which doesn't seem to help at all, and also restarting my entire system which also doesn't seem to do anything for it at all.
Is anyone else having this issue that can help me?
I'm currently using the settings that were recommended as a starting point in the README.

    Thanks!

It might be possible through those "App" on Skype but why do you want it on Skype? Or is it you want your voice to dance on the keyboard too? As long as someone who know how to program one, it will be possible.

I've been doing a little more testing and it seems once I try to set more than 3 LEDs to be active I get the problem with it lighting up one colour and freezing, whereas if I only have 3 or less active it will almost always go for 10-30 seconds.
I've been able to have it last a lot longer when only one LED was active (with random colours checked). After setting all LEDs to only blue, I was able to have 4 LEDs active but only last 10 seconds or less, however with only 3 LEDs and all blue, it works just fine and hasn't stopped working after 10 minutes (time of post). It seems random colours and a higher number of LEDs in use will give the plugin problems. I've also tested the frequencies which seem to have no effect. It's looking to me like it's having trouble sending too many different commands and the machine is getting confused...?
Not sure if this will help at all with the debugging?

I guess one colour at a time will have to do for me.

Update: I guess even with 3 LEDs and all one colour it was still only temporary and only last just around 15 minutes. I'm guessing if I set it to 2 or 1 LEDs then it will last longer, although I haven't tested this yet.

The more leds you use the more commands have to be send to the alienfx deivce. As the alienfx device was never made for such a high update rate as I use it in the plugin it can happen that the device refuses to accept new commands and thus freezes. The next version will feature a customizable update rate which you can lower if you device freezes to often during playback. But this of course will also result in a less accurate visualization.

    Hey tutsuo,

The m17xr3 is definitely supported (Read a few pages back, same issue solved). Make sure you use the full version of winamp. Try following the instructions again. I assure you if you do it right it will work. Save yourself some time by using the devices.xml below. It's for the m17xr3

Here is the alienfx_vis_devices.xml for your laptop:
    PHP:
    <devices>
      <
    device name="M17xR3" protocolVersion="2" productid='0x520'>
        <
    led name="Numpad"                            code="0x000001" />
        <
    led name="right keyboard"                    code="0x000002" />
        <
    led name="middle keyboard"                   code="0x000004" />
        <
    led name="left keyboard"                     code="0x000008" />
        <
    led name="left speaker"                      code="0x000020" />
        <
    led name="right speaker"                     code="0x000040" />
        <
    led name="Logo"                              code="0x000100" />
        <
    led name="Touchpad"                          code="0x000200" />
        <
    led name="Control"                           code="0x000800" />
      </
    device>

Maybe someone could collect all the different devices files for each model and post them in one spot so Ingrater could update his initial post to include them there along with instructions stating where to put the file along with the config and state that an empty settings.xml can be used as it will be filled in on it's own once settings are manually changed in the plugin itself. I will try to do this once I get home on my laptop if nobody has done so by then.

You need to download someone's alienfx_vis_devices.xml file that corresponds with your laptop model and place it in the same directory that your alienfx_vis_config.xml is in and maybe an empty alienfx_vis_settings.xml as well. Look through the thread to find the devices file for your laptop or create your own (there's a guide in around page 72-74 if you need to do this).

Update: I've uploaded all the devices files I could find on the forum, hopefully everyone who's created their own for other models can upload them here as well.
Place the corresponding devices xml file found in the zip files here into this directory on your laptop:
    C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins\

I will be downloading the different device xml's and seeing if I can incorporate them into the plugin natively. I will admit that it may take me a while but I will work on it and attempt to upload it.

Hi guys.. Im having problems with the "lightshow", have done all of these put that file in that directory and so on, and used that alienfx-leds-tester.exe to creat "alienfx_vis_devices.xml". found it here: Ingrater’s 3D Blog Alienfx winamp plugin update
I have also downloaded that settings.xml, but when i start winamp, it somehow freezes, after i run the visualization.

    any clues?
what I do know is that the light are linked to the visualization, cause if i have the lights on, they go of when i run it. but nothing after that...

I've paused my attempt to add the "newer" models to the plugin. The reason behind this is I recently had to reinstall windows on my laptop and since then the plugin has stopped working on my m11x.. When I turn on the plugin my power light starts flashing at a moderate speed and WinAmp freezes. Anyone else run into this issue?

Another part of the issue is it doesn't provide an error stating the settings file is missing.

    Model: m11x (original)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    Winamp Version: 5.623 (x86)
What you did that caused the crash: Re-installed windows, winamp and plugin after serious pc crash
How the crash effected the plugin (does it still work?): It does not work anymore, the power light starts flashing and that's it

To configure zones, hold [CTRL] and press K
That will bring up the plugin chooser, start the plugin first, then from there select the AlienFX plugin and click configure. That will bring up another window. Near the bottom of that window you should see small box with 3 buttons to the right. This window will allow you to add and configure zones.

I am writing this little bit from memory so if anyone else who has the plugin working sees something that is incorrect please let me know.
    Hope this helps.

Hi, I've been toying around with this plugin on my m11xr3 for a while today, and finally got some sort of light action going on. However it always seems to freeze after a few seconds. Sometimes the lights dont seem to come on when i turn the plugin on in winamp, but when i turn off the lights via my system tray alienware cc they turn on again for a bit, then they freeeze again. I've treid a lot of different settings for my zones, even with only one zone on it doesnt last much longer than a minute... which is very sad anyone have any iea whats going on? btw thx froobaloopsfor the right device xml!

I'm just wondering if it's possible to make something for this for the master sound output on your computer. That way you don't have to configure it for every program and it would work for YT and other sound sources too.

I had this problem before only when I tried to use more than two zones. Once I reduced it to one or two it seemed to work decently. However even then it did still freeze up occassionally. I believe Ingrater mentioned that it could be that the program is sending too many commands to the lights at once but I'm not sure if he confirmed this or not. If you've tried using only one zone and it still doesn't last more than one minute perhaps this theory was incorrect. To be clear, the current settings I use only make use of the keyboard as one zone and the two speakers as another zone.

    By default, the path is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp

If you changed it, access your Computer, press the F3 key and type Winamp to search for it.
