There are 2 directory, one is the installation folder, another is the plugin and visualization folder, the installation folder is either on the C drive or whatever other partition you have on, follow katalin's instruction or you can follow Winamp's shortcut Target found in the properties.
Second is the plugin folder which will be in whichever Windows Drive it is on, as for me it is in drive C and the path is: " C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins ", for example, if you install your Windows on D, then it will be in " D:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins ". That's where the " vis_winamp-alienfx-plugin.dll " and " alienfx_vis_config.xml " should be place at, and you must enable the " Show hidden files, folder, and drives " in Folder Options to be able to find that path I show you above. -

Anyone know what the best settings are for m14x? They seem kind of in sync, but it still seems like it could be better.

This may have been brought up, but is there anything that can sync it to Pandora or Spotify?

PLEASE SOMEONE post the device file for the m14x Nothing I have found works so far
-
Here is my devices.xml, hope it works cause it works just fine for me.
Note that i upload it in .txt file so u need to CHANGE ITS FILE TYPE BY REPLACING THE .TXT AT THE END OF THE FILE WITH .XML for it to works.Attached Files:

I got it to work by downloading the file from Ingraters 3D Blog Alienfx winamp plugin update
Follow the instructions in the read me file, you cant go wrong
Then
Go to page 78 of this thread and download the download for your laptop supplied by froobaloops xD
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/419484-alienfx-pidgin-winamp-plugin-78.html
Then put it in C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins\
Should work, then set out the appropriate zones and play with the frequencies
-
Try this: Alienware M14xR1 Winamp Plugin, I create that for my M14xR1, and it work perfectly, so I think it might work for your R2, unless Dell/Alienware have upgrade or change code of the AlienFX.
-
Please someone for m11x !
-
have u tried mine?
-
But this is not M11x!
-
i think its quite the same. i mean the lighting zone. i think m11x have the same lighting zone as the m14x isn't it?

I was trying to figure out a way to have the colors change daily but have yet to find a solution. Something with task scheduler opening a different file each day that has an application tied to it in alienfx.
-
Hello I have a concern(marigold) with the plugin I indeed have all make to copy them to stick but I have the error message and I have not access to zones I have one m17xr4 thank you
-
Finally got this working on my M18x R2! Will try to post a video later.
-
Hey, how did you manage that? I have just started looking into it, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
-
I created a new device list for the M18x R2(which I found on here the next day, which could have saved me some time.). Then I edited the old files to work with the new device file. I will upload a zip of all the files so you can cut and paste. Everything works great except when I exit winamp I have to open alienFX and reapply my normal light theme. Haven't figured out why it's not doing it automatically when I exit like it's suppose to.
-
Here you guys go, I added the device file that I made and the settings that I use. I have modified all the other files to work with the new M18x R2 device file.
Download Winamp_vis_alienfx_M18xR2.zip
All credit goes to Benjamin Thaut ( http://3d.benjamin-thaut.de)! Couldn't have done any of it without all his hard work! -
That's excellent! Thank you so much
-
I'm re-upload this AlienFX Plugin because I have just test it with one of my friend who just got his R2 and it work perfectly fine. So here it is - AlienFX for M14x R1 & R2:

I take no credit for this, all credit all belong to Ingrater for releasing the LED test for the AlienFX and for giving tips when me and some few other fellow member trying to config the vis device.xml file to have it detect the M14xR1's AlienFX -
can someone help me out with a proper guide for Alienfx lighting visualizations for the M17x
i tried Ingraters method but it sayd no Alienfx device found
can sm1 pls help to get the best lightings plugin or software -
can someone help me? i have the m11x r3, and ive followed all the instructions carefully. When i press start on the plugin, my lights turn off then it either freezes or says: registering window class failed, creating opengl window failed
-
Followed all instructions... However, nothing happens when I press Alt+K. Any advise?
-
Which Model and version of AW do you have?
-
AW M17x R4.
-
IT WORKED THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE !
I had the same config as the folder you uploaded, but for some reason as soon as I replaced those files with ones u uploaded it started working !
Anyway thank you so much buddy, for those m14x users, download files from this user "files at page,.
instructions are listed in the Read Me file
Thanks again -
I was also wondering how do you get the ingrater plugin to work for m17x r4
I'd really appreciate the help!
-
Since you have the M17x, then I dont think I will be able to help you since I'm a M14x user. However this is the device.xml code for the M17xR3, now I also dont think the R4's AlienFX code is change as well, since my friend who has a R2 of the M14x who use my R1 code and it work perfectly. So I suggest you give it a try.
alienfx_vis_devices.xml for M17xR3 by nuroo
Glad it work for you, and you're welcome
-
I'm assuming all we need to change is the product id and name of the product, what about the protocol version?
Where do you locate the product id? -
Follow this link to Ingrater's post where he explain how to access the Prod ID and guide you to create a new device.xml, and there are some post regarding the protocol version but it is for the M14x version only.
Adding AlienFX devices
And yes you only actually have to figure and change those prod id, name and the code that link to it, once you figure it out, thing will be easier and you're close to get it working! -
Final Edit: YESSSSS, after some tweaking I got it to work for the AW M17x r4
this is what my alienfx_vis_devices.xml looks like -> next page over.

This is what my alienfx_vis_devices.xml looks like

Glad you got it right but there is one tiny problem, it has to be .xml Not .txt.
-
I know, but it wouldn't let me upload my .xml on here D:
-
Well but you could zip it up, upload as a .Zip file is allow
.
-
Hello there
Can you please re-upload them as the link above dose not work anymore -
I know many have got the Winamp keyboard FX working now, but is it possible to have a screen visualisation running at the same time, if so - how?
-
BIG thanks to both you guys! That works great on my M18X R2 !!!
-
Why does this look like html and I can't find the need info in it
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3DLast edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
That's because of he upload the file as .txt, it has to be a .xml file and place it in the AppData/Roaming/Winamp/Plugin folder to get the plugin to recognize the new AlienFX device to work.
-
So it should work then just place it in that folder and rename it to xml?
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3D -
Yup, as that what I do with my M14x, rename it to "alienfx_vis_devices.xml" without quote, place in that folder then press CTRL+K, then click on Start then play a song, by then it should give you a nice light show provide you have config the setting.
-
Cool ill try it when I get my computer
