Actually it already works for the m15x but not the m17x. The download link is somewhere here in the thread.

Ingrater, how configurable will the plugin be? I'd love to be able to do the following:

1. Select a single color and have it used to pulse among all zones to beat.

2. Select multiple colors (say three) and have them set to rotate or randomly rotate among all zones to beat.

3. Select no colors and have the plugin randomize all zones with all colors to beat.

#3 would be freaking awesome - like my old M1730!

 

Yeah I think that would be doable.
I'm currently working on a configure gui so no textediting is not necessary any more. When This gui is done I will release the plugin.

It will if someone is willing to provide a m11x for testing. Send me your e-mail adress per pm and I email you a testing program. If you run that I then can make it compatible with the m11x.

Hi, I'm runing on a M15x and I can't run the winamp plugin. When I activate it, winamp shows a screen with some kind of graphic but no efects on the lights :S I followed the instructions in the readme, any ideas on what's wrong?

 

If you stop the plugin does it state "plugin was ended sucessfully" ? If not the alienfx device probably crashed. Maybe you have to change the values in the config file so that there are beats detected. Try it first with some kind of techno music.

A bit of a breakthrough today. Ingrater will be packaging the plugin for release tomorrow. It's not perfect, and much work still needs to be done. But damn is it fun having a light show.

Yea it ends sucessfully, also i tried to change values but nothing. Its normal that window I mentioned? I ask because in your video I didn't see it.

You know there is a plugin for winamp for the g15 logitech keyboards that works flawlessly, maybe you can use that as a reference for getting the beat detection working properly.

If you have a link to that plugin for me and the plugin is opensource I might can use it. Otherwise the chances are bad.

 

That actually made me think - is there a way we could tie the plugin to say DirectSound output? If so, we could make it flash on any system event that produces a sound - whether that be critical stop, beep, etc - as well as games!

That is possible. I already thougt about that, the only problem with it is, that the alienfx device has a certain lag and I can request the sound data from winamp before it gets played. When I get the sound form a DirectSound output I can not request it prior playing. Then there would be a very small lag.

The m17x support is done now. You can download the plugin here:

tried it out last night and its pretty damn cool, great job!

if you could set it to use a specific colours, or define 3 colours to use that would be awesome

 

Colors and more customization are coming. Ingrater asked me a few days ago if we should release this plugin as-is, and I felt it would be wrong for me to upload the video and tease you guys by not allowing you to have it on your own M17x. Be patient - it's taken us about 6 months to get this far . Thanks for the kind words and the rep. Don't forget to give Ingrater rep, too!

 

I just finished an update. I'm waiting for it to be tested by Lord_Zath. After that I will release it.

my M11x is coming in a week or so... would it work on the new M11x?

 

Currently I only can support the area-51 m15x and the all powerfull m17x. I could easily support other alienware laptops but I need testers for it. So if you want support for an model which is currently not supported I need you as tester. PM me and I will send you a testing program and some instructions. Running this program will take about 10 minutes and after you send me the results I can support your laptop.

A few flaws came up during the testing Lord_Zath did so the update will be delayed a bit.

If you mean the area-51 m17x with R1 and the all powerfull m17x with R2 then there is currently only support for the R2

The update is out. Be shure to read the updated README file so you understand the new configure options. Custom color and led asignment will come next.

i always have to download it and then take off the hyphens from the end of the zip to open it. i downloaded the update and it works great! i'm having loads of fun calibrating it to different songs

 

What are you guys using for unzipping? I tested the link and unzipped the downloaded file and it worked for me. I would be really interrested why it doesn't work for you guys.

the problem is not the support of the alienfx controller. The problem is that I need the individual led-ids for each laptop and for that I need testers...

 

Hi,

R1 and R2 are both new All powerfull M17x. The difference is in the motherboard and CPU, but the actual controller is exactly the same and so are the led-ids;

 

Found this trick the other night downloading a file to defraging Lotro game. The file always seid crupt. Download it from fire fox then download the file. It work. It could be your web browser.

is there a way to restore the previous alienfx theme to the LEDs when the plugin is stopped? otherwise i have to go to your alienfx setter and reload the theme each time. it's not a big deal but would be a cool feature

 

press Fn+F11 twice or Use ALienFXLite, where you can right click on the application icon and apply any saved profile from the task bar without opening any apps

 

I could link it with my AlienfxSetter to restore a theme but the Question is how many of you actually use my AlienfxSetter and would it be worth the effort.
