AlienFX Pidgin + Winamp plugin

I'm wondering the same thing.

 

Greetings everyone!

I am having a problem, and I cannot seem to figure out what is the cause of this.

I can't seem to get the lights to pulse to music no matter what I do. I know I have installed it correctly, and I am currently using the recommended preset in the Readme file. The lights just won't turn on/off to music.

The farthest I have ever got was the lights turned off.

Any help please?

It's an M11x, just making sure that's known.

How I can install it? I cannot read file "README"

 

You can open readme with Notepad or Wordpad. Other programs that you can use is Openoffice which is freeware.

 

Ok. I downloaded the plugin. Did everything perfectly as instructed in the readme file. But when i start the plugin, nothing happens, after about 2 seconds winamp freezes with the cursor changing to busy...! I tried this on 5.58 version on winamp first...also tried on 5.56 but it still isnt working! I have changed the model value to 1 but I dont understand why it isnt working...! Winamo just freezes, but it still plays the music somehow!

I have the M17x R1...
Do i need to do anything else like maybe uninstall the AlienFX Editor...?

 

Has anyone managed to get any decent settings for the sound energy factor and the energy variance factor and if so could you post the settings cos I have got it working and am currently using the setting in the readme file however it doesn't seem to work in time with the music.

My Anti-virus was the problem. Every time i started the plugin the AV asked me whether to switch to entertainment mode after which winamp would freeze...! I decided to turn off my AV and voila...! The plugin works like a charm!

After playing around a bit with the sliders, what i think is that we need to adjust the sliders for each song to get the lighting perfectly in sync with the beats because each song has a different set of frequencies...!
Still a blanced setup is possible.

btw. How did you split it into 3 parts over the keyboard, as your settings show only keyboard and numeric pad as 2 parts?

 

Actually the KEYBOARD zone has the "keyboard middle left" and "keyboard middle right", while the NUMPAD zone has "touch panel", "keyboard left" and "keyboard right".

This is precisely true. While you can get pretty close to a general "genre-specific" setup, each song has unique qualities that may/may not be caught without individual configuration. Glad it's working well for you now. Keep playing with it and letting us know what works/doesn't!

 

Hey guys, this plugin is working great! Been experimenting with some options... loving it all! Only thing is... I'm trying to figure out how to run both the keyboard visualization and the on-screen video visualizations at the same time. Can anyone help me with that?

 

i can't get it to work
i'm using winamp v5.581
i'll click on "start", play the music and nothing happens. if i click on "stop" or try to close winamp, it'll say that the plugin ended successfully and then winamp hangs.
i pretty much followed dk_speedrun's settings and set the model to "2"

i've attached my xml files. does anyone know if i made a mistake here?

In what way do you mean...I have an M11x and it works just fine on it.

 

I was having the same problem as you have posted here...!
Do you have anti-virus runnig when u open winamp and start the plugin???
Try disabling your Anti-virus completely, that includes your firewall as well, and then start the plugin! This thing worked for me! You can turn on the AV after starting the plugin!
Plus, try using the 5.56 version of the winamp as Ingrater made the plugin using that version! I am also using the 5.56 version as well...!

 

For those who are getting irritated by the freezing of the winamp on stopping the plugin, here is a simple solution.
Close winamp using Task Manager directly and there would be no more hang-ups!

Would prefer a Songbird plugin ... its my main music player now.

when i did it running winamp worked resonably well on my m17x r2 no issues that i could fix.

Does anyone know if there are any other plugins for AlienFX

 

I can't get it to work on my m17x R2, how did you do it? I put everything where it was suppose to.. I think. When i try to apply the plug in it says it can't find the .xml file.

Does anyone know how to run two winamp plugins at the same time? No one responded yet... meaning, I would like to run both the AlienFX plugin and a visualization like Milk at the same time. Anyone?

Or can you set up other visualization software that listens to whatever the computer is playing? Thanks...

I am also using the winamp Plugin with my M17X R2 it works pretty well only the alienhead on the back of the lid and the on/off Button do not change the color. Is there some way to fix this issue or is this normal?

 

Hey I recently downloaded this program (Winamp AlienFX program) but only the left keyboard lights work, Left Speakers, and Alienware logo. I have been reading these forums and I don't seem to find the solution to the problem thus far.
It would be greatly appriciatied if I can get this up and running I really want it it seems soo cool. Oh I'm running on the new M15x Laptop. Thanks.

I'm using an M17x R2 with Win 7 x64 with Winamp v.5.58 x86 and I;m having no luck I've copied the files to the correct locations, changed the xml file to the right model, have re-downloaded the ZIP file, re-installed Winamp. I get the first error "Plugin executed an illegal operation. Restart of Winamp is reccomended (1)" I click ok then it crashes and and get the "Winamp has stopped working dealio. All I can do after that is click close program. I'm not able to load up any of the settings for the plugin either.

hi guys newbie here,,this winamp is very awesome,,a million thanks to ingrater and lord_zath. next is i wanna try the pidgin plugin,,can somebody help me instruct how to do it coz i'm kinda stuck after reading the read me instruction. i'm kinda noob to this thing,,i can't see any plugins folder under the .purple where i'll paste the alienfx-notification.dll. what to do?shall i create a plugins folder?

 

Havent mananged to have the 2 visualisations working at same time,

Also for people having problems with only some of the lights working on the keyboard make sure you edit the xml file and put your model, this should correct that

Re-install winamp and delete original plugin files...then re add, i had a similar problem and doing this fixed it.

--actually scratch that ... Pidgin plugin isnt available for m17x according to website, anyone confirm this.--

 

pidgin plugin worked fine for me with the M17x. Keep in mind he is probably talking about the older m17x, prior to the Alienware/Dell merger.

hi all! im new to this forum, thanks to jadamat (son! hihihi) for bringing me here.. and thanks to ingrater and lord_zath for this plugin.. though i got one problem at first, when you exit the winamp without clicking "stop" for alienFx visualization, the whole winamp program will just crash..

 

yeah it's an issue I've had but others haven't had. Sometimes it'll crash and sometimes it won't. just get into the habit of stopping playback before exiting.

yeah you do. I typically do FN+11 a couple times to disable/reenable the LED's. Works like a charm

I can only get the "ALIENWARE" the Command controls and the numpad, and the right speaker. to light what am I doing wrong? M17x-r2

 

Just like me ealier, you need to check your model in alienfx_vis_config again, make sure it's a right number with yours and it gonna work correctly, ealier I made it in wrong position so it was just like your prob in your photo!

 

I see that now under Model number how would i edit that in an XML file not familiar with this stuff..

the lights stop flashing after i play the music for a while, i have to press fn+alien fx to enable/disable alien fx when the flashing stop to make it flash again.
Can anybody help me with this situation?
P.S. my model is m11x

 

Is this just me or the FX plugin version I'm using does not have more specific zones like Keyboard left, Keyboard right etc... It only has speaker, keyboard, touchpanel...

Any updates to this Winamp plug in ? I absolutely love it, but it's really buggy..it works when it feels like it lol..Would love to see a final release.

 

I don't think Ingrater is doing this anymore. I know towards the end he got into modding Mechwarrior...

 

Damn..I really love this plug in..would've loved a stable release. Since there isn't going to be one, can you help me figure out why the plug in works like whenever it feels like it Sometimes after a reboot it works perfectly...then if winamp is restarted it stops working...and then to get it working at all I have to keep enabling\disabling alienware FX...while im doing that the lights ''dance'' for a few seconds and then just go blank and sometimes the right speaker gets stuck on one colour...Hope you understand what I'm tryna say it's kinda confusing..thanks in advance for any advice.
