I used a previous version of the winamp vis, and it worked well.. Somehow the new one doesn't work for me..
Since then (2 months ago) I've upgraded the bios, the command center to the newest A06.. Anything i could try?
-
noob question lol what program do I use to open the download, it says once i search that its an unrecognised file type hmmm
-
-
well Have it somewhat working One speaker. the Number Keypad and Fuction keys above the Number keypad Yet the Alienware logo and alienware head. Everything else dont work. That 3 sections of the keyboard and touch pad. One thing to note there 10 sections of the keyboard you can set on the M17x r2.

After some trial and error i got it working. First time i used it it didnt work and the only light that was lit even after closing winamp was the left keyboard speaker. after shutting down and pulling the battery and pressing start multiple times alien fx works again. then tryed it again without doing a reinstall of something it worked like a charm.
-
It always crashes for me on exit leaving my colors all messed up. All I have to do is simply shutdown AlienFX w/ Fn-F11 and then hit that again to turn it back on and all is well.
-
I'm using Bios a06 and control centre a06 (updating to a07 now)
on an M15X
After playing around with the config I noticed that the zones were all wrong, at least for me. I tried using the alienware logo - nothing and then the touchpad which made my keyboard zone1 flicker)..
Is it my fault or perhaps have the zones changed or something? -
it's very possible that the new CC changed the way it communicates with the LED's.
Ingrater, if you'd like, I can do some more testing with you -
It's not possible that the way of communication changes.
@Mr Pas
please check that the model entry inside the config xml is set correctly. -
That did it (changed it to 2, was 0) -

Hey i made a video aswell.
YouTube - Alienware alien fx winamp plug-in demo -
Ok what winamp and cc did you use the3vilGenius. How was alienware plugin setup. With all 10 areas.
-
-
you need to create a zone for each keyboard piece in order to get each section to randomly change colors
-
quick question, how will this work on the m11xr2? Has anybody tested this? Even though it doesnt have zones I would love for the colours to flash with the beats

Question answered. May i add that i started with lord zath's set-up and then changed it a little bit. Anyone found something worth mentioning in the set-up so it looks better?
-
i updated winamp and now the plugin is not working.it's not even listed in the visualizations any more.can i fix it?
-
That is the issue I have Lord_Zath I only have what listed below I dont a option to run all 4 zones of the keyboard.
When I edit zones. for Active or Aviable
I have Touchpad, Alienware Logo, Light Pipe, Keyboard and Alienware head and TouchPanel. I can setup each group in there Leds to Active and they work. All the zones but the Main keyboard and left speaker will Not work. That 3 zones and a speaker.
Is there a update of this file http://3d.benjamin-thaut.de -

Light pipe? thats for area 51 m15x no?
-
Not sure the3vilGenius. I just Posted what was in winamp plugin I downloaded.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
This picture is what I can access and such. The keyboard runs options keys on the top right hand side. How do I recode it to run the way I want it to. -
yeah double-check the directions in the readme. You need to edit one of the .xml files otherwise the program thinks you're using an old Area 51!
-
So set the <model value="1" /> For the M17x. Anything else I have to edit in the xml file.
Ahh ok.
I did notice it like to use cpu power lol. But Now I can trick Make my nephew think he broke the laptop by hitting a button. -
nope just the model and then save it.
-
Awesome plugin for winamp, thanks a lot man!
-
Can people post some of their settings?
-
-
Dude You rock this is awesome thank you to everyone who worked on this!!!
-
This is probably the only implementation of Alienfx that is actually cool (i never liked my keyboard flashing when being shot at haha)
-
Just out of curiosity, what language are you doing it in? I noticed in the SDK there's a DLL for managed and unmanaged code.
EDIT: Nevermind, noticed Winamp plugins are c and c++ only... -
I am trying to get this to work on a M11xR2 without any luck. I have placed all the files in the defined locations, edited the xml file for my model. The AlienFx visualization is there but everytime I start it; it crashes winamp. I don't get the file reference error as indicated in the readme and there is not a settings xml created either.
I have uninstalled/re-installed winamp several times and always get the same results.
I am using Winamp 5.581
Any ideas?
Update: I followed the same procedure for my M17xR2 and it works great. -
-
same here i only get right speaker and alien-ware logo and alien-ware head and keyboard numbered pad to light up and that's it need help post a video of it for m17x or did i download file if you help me do this ill help test OK i really like this but not good with PC's thank you.

Damn it, it doesn't work! It looks cool, need help! Badly!
I followed the instruction in the README file and copied everthing, i also got the error message when loading first time. (And i get it again if i re-copy the files and delete the settings file). So that part seems to be working.
But, when i play music, nothing happens, no flashes, anywhere.
Do i have to disable something? It seems like the light is controlled elsewhere.
Setup:
Vista 64bit - M15X - Newest Winamp - Browser: Google Chrome - -
IT's dead? Can't any1 help me? Tell me what i need to tell you, before you can help me.
-
Yes, somebody help with the settings file for M11x. -
Mean trick I did to my nephew. I found a Really Low starting song. So the keyboard mouse looks Normal. I walk away. and Frist the Touch pad went out and I walk back in and I was like what happen to my laptop. He was like I dont know I. He was playing Need for speed world. I was like ok. I grab a drink and the left speaker went out. He had a panic Look on his face like the hell going on. and 20 seconds later the Music Starts and All the light go Wild. He jump a foot when the whole system started blazing with colors.
-
@thread: Now all we need is someone to make a background running app that picks up from the two microphones next to the camera and we've got a dancing M15X at a party or something, where you cant play your own WinampI wonder if that's doable
-

omg That totally works lol, awesome! Yeah I set the microphone array as the default device and downloaded a line in plugin for Winamp and Voila! Thanks!
My M15x dances even to external music -
Now what I am looking for is a Very slow Morphin. Where it will slowly change Colors over time with out getting to the end and change back like it dose on Command Center.
-
why does only the left side that changes color on mine? such as left speaker and left keyboard only
cant find any left/right speaker option (can see only 1 option) and so does the keyboard
found something wrong, i adjusted the touchpad but my left keyboard which is flashing, the touch pad itselt is dead
*owh... i forget to configure the XML file
btw my alienhead and touch panel doesnt flash, anyone know why? -
For some fun, right click the speaker icon and go to Recording Dveices. Disable everything except for Rec. Playback. Then in Winamp, go to File -> Play URL... and enter linein://. Now your keyboard will flash to everything!
-
Also, you can use the plugin with MediaMonkey(what I use for music), since it's backwards compatible with simpler/older plugins for winamp. Just copy the .dll to MediaMonkey's root, the vis_ file to MediaMonkey/Plugins, and the config to appdata/local/MediaMonkey.
Thanks for the plugin!
P.S
Since this is custom written for Alienware systems, why not just have an exe that listens to one of the playback devices(easier than trying to get Rec. Playback to work right)? -
Hey guys, I really want to try this plugin out... I use winamp almost exclusively for my music.
Although, I have a few questions, if some of you guys could help me get these answered:
1. Is there any possibility that this might ultra-screw up my computer? Meaning, the lighting and all? I've already had the technician come to my house once to switch the motherboard after I screwed up the AlienFX by installing an older version of Command Center upon doing a clean reinstall. Any serious hardware/software issues possible through this plugin? Better be safe than sorry.
2. Also, what happens after, say, you have your regular AlienFX setup (lets say, all blue), you play a song with the plugin (thereby changing your lights based on song), and then stop playing the song. Do the lights revert to your older setup (in this case, all-blue)?
Edit - 100th post Woot! -
1. No.
2. Lights all go dark. Hit FN+11 twice to quickly bring back the old setup.
Also, from my understanding, the plugin actually reads ahead during the decoding. An executable will always be behind in processing. -
Sweet, thanks. What would happen if, say, I download and use the plugin, then wipe my os, and re-install the newest version of command center. I don't plan to do this... but just in case, anyone had any problems with this?
-
the command center that comes with the M11x r2 does not work with the plugin.
-
So is this still being updated or did it just die. I've been hoping for a more user friendly plugin so instead of twiddling with the frequencies it would just be set up to match music fairly well.
