He's saying if you don't like the emails send them to your spam box.

I agree though.. they are useless. They should do a newsletter type of thing that talks about upcoming Alienware products and overall computing news.

they should offer some discounts for the ones who have subscribed to the newsletter, say 5 % or free shipping :p

Then they'd most likely say - "The 5% discount offered to those subscribed to our newsletter can only be used by students or those connected to the military (however that works) and not in conjunction with the 5% discounts offered to them already" Hehe :p

Look at my situation and feel better - even when the black laptop comes out *end march pleez* I won't be able to get it cause I won't even be in US !!!!

Hope they fire the guys coming up with the overly flamboyant m15x mail adverts/spamletter and hire more techies to work on your flippant laptops ;)

I'll 2nd that, it's been tooooo long without a scrap of news and there's also the fact that AW have removed any reference to M17X from any website, including the "intro page" that showed both, that now goes to the main page with just the M15X as a "New" item.

Possibly the M1730. Thing is I can get a really decent price on one til the end of tomorrow - but I really want a X9000 if I'm going for SLI.

The price would include a T9300, but whether I self upgrade to the X9000 or ... I don't know. I was really hoping for the M17x to turn up this week to make up my mind - argh!!

Acutally alienware UK got the m15x exactly one month after alienware US which would make it mid march for you guys. Just cross your fingers, install whatever god-mode game u got handy (Black and white does the trick well) and put a bunch of village ppl praying for the m17x :D.

Hmm.. starting to get abit tired of waiting for m17x,
Surely the longer they wait the more likely some1 else will bring out a better or at least comparable laptop.
I've been thinking of buying a m17x (fully tricked out prob bout 5-6000)
(company buyin it 4 me so price is irrelevant) But it has to be bought by "start" of April for tax and so on..
Killing me now that it won't be out in time.
-- Just wonderin does anyone know why you can only get certain options in certain countries, and whether you can buy from same company in another country?
Just looked at dell m1730 in dells Irish website - Intel x7900 is Max option,
But on the US one you can pick the x9000??????

I'm thinking that they will release the M17X in silver, Ripley, like they did with it's lil' brother. Then release the Skullcap and colours for both afterwards. That way they can guarantee sales of both, people who want them regardless and then those who have waited for the spec they want.

@yomamasfavourite. i feel for you but remember, the USA get's the new machines a month before Europe.
The "April" date was for the UK version...

I'm hoping your right OB cause if they try to mess with the customers again by releasing the black ripley and skullcaps first, they'll have another band of people wanting to roast them over a pit !! They'll have to double-back on their purchases when the m17x is released shortly after that and their orders will be delayed and then they'll get pissed off and rant.. *Deep Breath*
Hmm.. I kinda went on rambling myself.. Well hope AW is listening.. to OB at least ;)

HI "W", think of it this way (I'm supposed to be working but, this is more important lol). If the 1st wave of customers place orders and then whilst there orders are being built and/or shipped, they then release another list of options, how meny people will do an "Absinthe42" and demand that they change. I think they will "change" both models about 3 - 4 months after release.
Hopefully in time for July lol

Little question to everyone here.. How would you feel about putting custom graphics on your notebooks ? Yes, No, Hate it, Love it ?
And has anyone opted for a custom paint job from a third party..?

As was mentioned, no one knows the answers to most of your questions. IF Alienware does meet its Q1 2008 projection for the release of the m17x -- which seems more and more doubtful by the day -- it will not have Montevina, which won't be out until summer. All indications have been that the m17x will have an SLI option if/when it is released. If by "good 9m series graphics card" you mean more powerful than the 8800m GTX, you're probably looking at 6 months or more.

Well, CeBIT was the last wait for the M17x for me. I would have waited if Alienware would have been willing to shed any light on a release date, but I've just got fed up. That with peoples opinion on their CS...

I can't wait any longer! after considering the (ugly) M1730 - I decided not to bother with either.

I've ended up purchasing a budget M1530 with a 8600GT (10% off voucher) and I'm going to build a QX9770 - CrossfireX (2x 3870x2's) desktop to go with it instead.

That's one less potential Alienware customer, due to the way they run their business :D.

i done similar thing as i was fed up of waiting too
I bought a xps 1530 from the dell outlet couple weeks ago and actually its not a bad machine. very good considering what i paid
I will wait for the M17 with all colour/options i want and then order.
If its a month or 2 or 3 i can wait.
The 1530 is a good stop gap

^ you know i might do the same thing...buy a normal laptop and build a top of the line desktop for gaming. there's a limit to waiting and my limit is pretty near. so about two customers they've lost so far. a pity...i was going to buy a quite maxed out m17x too. still might, if they every decide to release it..

Couldn't wait for AW, needed a laptop, just took the plunge and got a pretty maxed out M1730 instead of the m17x.

Soon I will forget about ever wanting an AW laptop. :D

I just ordered a 1730 myself (about 10 min ago) because of the lack of communication from AW concerning the m17x. I guess it will be a year or two before I look to AW again.

I did this a couple of weeks ago with the Gateway P-6831FX during the $1199 sale at Best Buy. The wait and uncertainty just got to be too much, especially with what was a great deal for the P-6831FX. I also figured that even if it was released soon, all of the options probably would not be available for some time, there would probably be a 3-4 week lead time and it was probably a better choice to let others be the "beta testers" of the brand new laptop for the first month or so. That left me looking at waiting another month or so once it was released and probably close to another month once I placed my order until I actually would likely receive it. I just could not wait two more months from an unknown and uncertain release date when I could get a good laptop for 1/3 the price and then wait and see where the m17x is a year from now. That's still my plan and I love my P-6831FX so far.
