ouch, I hope that Alienware is reading this forum.
-
Well, perhaps it is dells new strategy with alienware, since they have a very similar lappy (m1730) and just not the looks, so they might've thought that they can slowly "eat" alienwares marketspace away with delaying their 17" so much that customers will go and look at the dell ones, and finally switching when it gets over their head with waiting, and from the rest that HAS to HAS a alienware they can pump out the money and those people would wait anyways...
-
I'm giving AW 1 more week, after that I'll go with sager....they are a bunch of %$#&*@ for making us wait without giving us any information as for as the release date. In the end they will lose a valuable customer....me
-
I will never consider DELL because is too bulky. The price is insane too.
-
so has AW revealed anything new in cebit or what?
-
ROFLThey are cheaper than their ailenware counterpart and what are you doing in a m17x thread going on about 'insane prices'.
-
I might be with you 3NZO, on the phone with Dell now.
-
Got a nice deal on the 1730
T9300
Vista Premium
2GB Ram
120GB HD
8800SLI
N Wireless
Bluetooth
Came out to be 3409 pre tax (free shipping though)
I doubt the m17x would be able to compete with that especially when it first arrives on the market. -
pretty darn good deal. the SLi alone justifies that price. excellent cpu too. and of course the blinky lights. this is the first sub 3.5k SLi 8800GTX notebook i've seen, with lights (ha! thought i didn't think of you sager people???)
-
Mine is going to be about $4200
-
-
m1730. Wound up being 4100 with free overnight shipping.
T9300 2.5 Penryn
4gb Ram
Sli 8800m GTX
120gb 7200rpm HDD (have an external 750gb drive)
Vista Ultimate
Blu-Ray drive
Sound Blaster Audigy Software Edition
Wireless N card
Internal Bluetooth
Cable kit (for the DVI to Hdmi and optical audio)
And I got a free bump from Plus service to the Premium one. -
If you have 4grand for a laptop, why would you get such a small hd?
-
I have an external 750gb hard drive. I can add another internal HD later for less than what dell would charge.
-
Wll its 5th march nothing yet.
-
so far alienware has lost 5 customers (according to my count, might be way higher) with potentially high budgets...way to go alienware -
Thanks! Be honest with me though... how is the paint job in person? And can I truly prepare myself for the size of this thing??
-
-
Haha, I'm going to order a Zalman nc2000 so hopefully that will help with the heat. Thanks for the info!
-
no problem.
*that zalman will do you wonders. just do an experiment and put it on lap and then on cooler -
Has AW mentioned anything about new features for the M15X at least?
I can not believe that AW went to CEBIT with nothing new to show. From what I have been reading in the posts here, they didn't even take a M15X to show off. What is up with that?
Well, I guess it is time to start looking for something else. That is if I am going to get a new one before the turn of the century. -
I guess I was right, the ALX desktop was the only big announcement.
-
-
perin88: alienware people are not really present in CeBIT, they just lend a m9750 to the digitalliving's booth to present a digital home. ( http://www.cebit.de/suche/popup/tre...t_nummer=007&sprache=2&session=1&aussteller=1 )
-
well you are wrong as AW presented the m15x on the Cebit: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/3585907
-
Also - although the money is in the "pot" between the two companies, Alienware needs to rake in it's own share to keep market value in itself.
Point being, if Alienware doesn't turn over enough - their budget would be cut for R&D unless Dell pumped god knows how much into them and if it looks like they are doing bad on paper Dell could decide not to support what seems a lost cause. Alienware needs sales period.
So although Dell may have profited from Alienware's lack of structure, I'm sure it can only be bad news for Alienware. -
it's a grave shame i'm not german or can speak deutsch. What is being said in a nutshell? any mention of "skullcap"
-
nothing important/new - he explains the main features (8800M GTX in a 15,4"; ports; lights; touch sensitive controls; smartbay)
therefore nothing new for us -
I still think the m17x has been shelved until Motenvenia, mobile Quads, etc. so that it can fill that part of the market and compete with the new Sager/Clevo Montevenia models shown at CeBit. -
That could be true, but then why hold out on a fully configurable m15x? There has to be some connection with that and the m17x..
-
Has anyone notice the price drop on the m15x (now $2079) and m9750 ($1360). Also the previews start price for the cheapeast confuguration($1499) went up to $1709.
-
shows up as 2071 for the m15x and 1363 for the 9750...the unreleased low-end m15x still shows up as 1499 though.
edit..the 1709$ shows up on the config page, not the intro -
We have yet to really see what the 8800 SLI will be like and same with the 9xxx series that they were spouting about which also will be out in May/June. -
someone has news saying otherwise
Alienware @ CEBIT = M17x?
