    Performance/Price ratio-wise, M17 beats ALL laptops I have purchased.
    Remember, this is in Canada.
    The closest is the x300 for $1600 CAD before tax compare to M17 for around $1900 CAD. As you can see in the benchmark, M17 beats x300 for way more than 20%, which is more than the price difference %.

    Plus, the build quality, and style is worth the wait compare to walk-ins to bestbuy for x300.

    PS. I am for the best bang for the bucks. So I won't go fully loaded M17.

    Trying to get used to the brightness, decreasing it though the settings seems to affect the way things look (in a bad way) :(

    LCD screens shouldn't strain your eyes like CRT monitors. If you just take about a minute after every 15 minutes to focus on something other than the monitor you should be o.k. Other than that, I've never heard of anything that can help your eyestrain besides prescription glasses.

    Hi Casky,

    thanks for the question. The M17 Replace my DELL XSP M1710, first i try 3 months ago to order a XPS m1730 but DELL mean they can only deliver 29 of December (so they work 3 months with my money..) so i look again to Alienware and see the new M17. I Order on the 14.11. and i have it 05.12.2008 that was very quick.

    To the Laptop himself, i liked he is fast and have a very good Quality onyl 4 Points make me unhappy:

    1.The DVD Burner is not easy to close, he touching something.....
    2. Missing Manual, no Instruction Book ore PDF
    3. No Working CommandCenter ore AlienSens (contact Support about this)
    4.No working Driver CD (ordert new one from Alienware)

    maybe someone have the same Problems?

    You don't HAVE to update unless there is a problem.

    I am still install windows update on my new m17, then I will check the driver versions with the new m17.
    The new audio driver doesn't give me anything good, might gave me some conflict in fact.
    The new 8.12 ati driver isn't working for me.

    Will test more and update for you guys.

    Ordered November 27th. Estimated ship date is dec. 11. So far I`m still in Phase 2. E-mailed them a week ago and no answer yet. Never available to call in so kind of out of luck there. Looking forward to getting mine and glad to hear some people have had good luck so far.
