Your first initial one, are you having fun with it? Would you consider it one of your favorite lappys? :p

That may be a good idea if it has taken them that long and they don't have good reason for the delay (I know their parts aren't on backorder since mine flew through the processes). It's essentially the same notebook, but with a 3 year warranty on Xoticpc.

Currently, though, I'm really digging the way Alienware has been treating me. Hopefully, they keep up good customer service with me (like Apple has for a year and a half) :D

Yeah, you should really get ahold of them. That definitely signifies a payment problem. As soon as they fix it they are gonna push your estimated ship back accordingly (they did it to mine, but I caught them fairly early so it only went forward 3 days).

    PLEASE HELP ME! DOA M17

I just received my M17 about 1 hour ago and it is Dead on Arrival (DOA). I am new to AW and am really angry. The techs are useless. Any suggestions? They say pulling out ram and vids (Dual 3870s) will fix it. Is that true? Is this common with this model? I tried holding power button for 30 seconds and pulling battery out...still did not work. PLEASE post any suggestiosn or help...really need help here or I will have to return it

    That sucks!
Try removing the battery and running on mains supply only?
Do you get anything, flicker with lights....anything.

need a lil more help ogre.. as Alienized said. Can you offer a description of what happens? Sounds like maybe the RAM, or CPU isn't seated properly. Im assuming there. But, a good description may yield better feedback.

Yes, when I power it on (push the power button) it goes on for about 1-3 seconds and then goes right off. When plugged in with battery, there is the little blue battery symbol right under the screen and above the keyboard. When I power on, it stays on and the harddrive can symbol and keypad symbol light blue. Then it turns right off and only the power plug blue symbol stays on. Any other suggestions?

    Also--more info.

    I have a t9400, 2gb, vista 32, 160gb7200 rpm, dual 3870s crossfire, 8x DVD.

The above comment I made is the best description of what happens; if necessary, i will try to clarify it mroe. I am just quite angry.

Yeah.. see my previous ideas. Something isn't seated properly. First check the RAM, and then the CPU. They may have not locked the CPU in place. There's a small phillips head screw underneath the CPU heatsink that is labeled "Open" and "Locked" - If someone didn't lock it then that would explain your issue. And if the RAM isn't firmly and squarely in it's socket then that could also cause this issue. Ignore the GPUs. They're likely not the cause. It would be very difficult to not seat them correctly.

I've heard good things about Avira and AVG - you want one that doesn't hog your resources and try to take over the system..like Norton - ick.

Actually, a couple days after I placed the order I called the credit card company and its all been billed already. I even called AW back and made sure that was in order. I just wish I could call them now, but whenever I have spare time from school and work, their lines aren't open anymore.

Man that really sucks! There is probably no better way to fix the problem other than calling them. But if it isn't fixed already and you seriously can't get ahold of them then maybe you should cancel?

    Deogol,

I have seen others hanging in phase 2 for up to 2 weeks before, once it jumps the process moves rather quick. I was in 2 for 9 days, then 2 days later it was shipped.

What email did you use in attempt to contact them, they usually reply within a day or two on your order statis, at least from my experience, have 2 systems from them now and another on the way.

So just a couple of hours ago I moved to phase 3. Hopefully might reach phase 4 in a couple of days. Anyone know if their Dec. 24th thing is a guarantee? Or just a little advertising thing?

I'm going to try and find a time before school or work to call them and get a real answer about the status because I've read that their website is sometimes a little slow on updating order status. But for now, crossing my fingers and being optimistic that I'll get it before Christmas.

I'm not sure on this one, I kind of bought into the B.S. a little bit on it.
I ordered on the 7th. Still in Phase 1! No reply yet to my email inquiry. Since I'm purchasing it as a gift, I'd certainly hope it arrives!

Sad part is, could have ordered the same system sans the Alienware "dress up" and had it in 1/8th the time. Oh well.

Did you get free Holiday Shipping?
I for some reason felt like I overpayed, then I built your exact rig on the alienware website and it was $1,874.00

So do they up the price around the holidays then tell you your getting free shipping?

Did you order any extras such as software, carrying bag, accessories or anything other than the system as these are packaged separately (shipped at the same time) and NOT part of the free shipping deal? ;)

So I'm not a huge "forum" person, but i've been reading this forum since I ordered my m17 back on 11/20. Not that this is a total horror story yet, but it began by sitting in Phase 2 for two weeks because they were waiting on parts. Ok, w/e, not much I can do about that except suck it up. Then my computer moved pretty quickly from Phase 3 to Phase 6, but have been stuck there for a week now. I kept calling and all they would tell me is it will be sent out by the end of the week (which is today). I decided to call again today, because it is STILL IN PHASE 6. They told me they have had to install the OS three times, and I am starting to get worried. My old HP dv9548us burned out a week before I ordered this, so I have been running on my old, crappy HP zv6000 ever since (boooooo!! single core ). I digress; they put a "rush" on my order, and they are always very nice when I call. Don't get me wrong, I would rather have a system that is fully functional when I get it, but this is kinda starting to get a little ridiculous, imo. Anyways, sorry for taking up forum space, but I just needed to vent a little. lol :) :) Also, I was wondering if anyone else's system had OS install problems during production.

Installing the OS 3 times held up the shipment for that long? Wow.. Takes what, 45 minutes to install Vista fully configured. So.. that accounts for just over 2 hours. And, the rest of the delay is because of...?

Hey guys, I've been here for a good while now getting all I can about a brand I thought unreachable when I was younger. I've read some good heartfelt stories, and some bad angry rants (jelly! lol). Although I only recently registered now.. I wanted to wait till I get my baby and to my surprise it just arrived 5 minutes ago.

    Ordered December 1st - Arrived December 12th
    (estimated delivery date: dec. 15th)

    Video/Graphics Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - CrossFireX™ Enabled!

    Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB

I'll be looking to upgrade sometime in the future after my warranty runs out.

I'll post my thoughts about the beast in a little while.

I thought they all came with the skullcap design, I'm tripping balls right now.

I took a look at the original invoice and it says "2gb DDR3 PC2-8500 SO D-IMM 1067MHZ memory" when I ordered 4gb of ddr3 memory?

So no skullcap, and 2gb memory when I thought 4gb?
Guys tell me this isn't a bad thing?

I turned it on checked the system information and it said I had 4gb of memory. Phew!

I live in California so sending it back will be a major time wait.

    *edit
I also got carried away with excitement it turns out that I did have 4gb of dd3 memory I just read the invoice wrong: "2gb DDR3 PC2-8500 SO D-IMM 1067MHZ memory quantity: 2"

    Granite lol

Yea man everything is here and accounted for. I just misread the invoice but the 'mypcinformation' clarified that my specs were right.

    Burn in/benchmarks that they performed
    3dm06 - 3DMark Score: 12,625.00 3DMarks
    ut3 deno - Average FPS: 59.18 FPS
Time Spent Over 30 FPS: 99.75 percent of total benchmark time was spent above 30 FPS

I'll test out some games this weekend, I'm still in shock that they got it delivered on Friday when the estimated said Monday. +500 AW!
