I'm starting to think its not gonna happen. Looks like I'm gettin an asus... I'm kinda disappointed, I really wanted the back lit keyboard and ddr3 ram.

 

Well, that ASUS allegedly scores damn near 20K 3D Marks. I wouldn't fault you for getting one. Not an Alienware though, and it's massive. 18 inch screen or something.

 

yeah, It's size is hard to embrace, literally and figuratively. Not to mention that the high 3D mark score is largely due to the qx9300. You stick that in with ddr3 ram and dual ddr5 4870's (if it ever happens) it would easily retake the crown. I wish they could just figure out how to put liquid cooling on mobile chip sets if over heating is the main issue behind all this.

 

My M17 STILL isn't here, its been almost 2 months since I ordered. ing stupid military postage

 

the 4870's are coming there already designed and still trying to figure out how to cool 2 of them one is not problem ... i do not understand how you can be so upset there not out when the 3870's play almost any game on max detail

 

what do you mean almost anything. it plays any and everything.


except crysis. and stalker clear sky. that's it. everything is maxed out. if you are not a benchmarker then the 3870 Crossfired is all you need. unless you want to overclock and run, then overclock and optimize and then run. repeat. the 3870 CF is where it's at.

 

It's a compelling argument, But crysis is awesome, I would like what ever I purchase to play it fluently. And until the 4870's are released for the a m17/ whitebook I remain a skeptic as to weather we will ever see 'em

 

i can play it maxed out no aa. (no one can use aa.) motion blur helps alot.

 

you like crysis so much it determines if you buy a certain laptop .... im kinda worried about every other game in the world.

if your going to get a ASus you going to ave to flash your GPU's every time a new driver comes out and install custom drives just to get it to work good

 

My m17 laptop that I have had for like 2 months overheated today, I think i had blocked the fans accidently. The screen went black and compeltly shutoff. I didnt touch it for an hour cause the bottom was hot. I let it cool compeltly and it still will not turn on. All that happens is the power button will flash orange a few times. What do I do? If I cant fix it will Aleinware fix it for me sicne I am still under the warranty? I am scared this thing cost me a ton and I am not a rich guy, someone make me feel better fast!!!

 

reset the cmos....i think there is a reset button on the side of ur laptop...try that out....shutdown.....reset cmos....then power on

 

whats a cmos, I am computer talk stupid. I been pressing the little reset button with a tooth pick, and nothing is happeneing...

A CMOS is a type of sensor in cameras...... i dunno what you crazy guys are talking about

 

I believe it is the MOBO battery.

I read that you only need to flash the cards once than you can install the 9.04 drivers. I'm in to games other than crysis, but I really like it because it's an all around good game, and it's a good general concept of the kind of the demands high end games in the near future will put on your system. Like Dead Rising 2, capcom designed a whole new game engine exclusively for it and I gotta say it looks nothing short of amazing!!

I also need to know if (1) dual vid cards is all its cracked up to be and if (2) upping the processor to the Quad Q9000 2.00GHz or the T9600 2.8GHz will make noticeable difference other than costing me about 4 bills more.

 

how does alienware ship?

 

In Europe they ship DHL express. For me it only takes 1 day because I live in Ireland and their manufacturing plant is here. For UK I think it is 2 days and the same for the rest of Europe.

i received an email: 8GB DDR3 now on m17 . this is not a good sign for 4870 coming... sometimes i wonder how you contact alienware and they give you these information. every time i did. just i donw know. you may see many things on the itnernet but we can not quarantee anything. we dont know anything until released. such things..
