i dont count directly from the screen coming on if you look at the HD light it plays through the animation before it actually starts loading and i have no startup programs

Guys, I just have to say that this is one kick-a$$ thread. You guys are well-informed, test before you present, and know your systems and platforms. I have 25 years experience in IT support and I am damned impressed. And the help links you have (like those in MR Moo's sig area) are the bomb!

My system ships on the 25th (which means the 26th, seeing the 25th is a holiday...). Had a run-in with Dell over wanting a shipping change but I used paypal, so they say that I can't change squat. Definitely idiotic - or should I say I spoke to some ID10T folks! But otherwise, the countdown is on. My 4GB of RAM arrives tomorrow.

 

Does anyone know why there are now only 2 laptops (m17 & m15x) for sale on the Alienware site?

Sitting at phase 4 for a couple of days now. How long does it take to pull parts?? My ship date is supposed to be the 25th (probably 26th with the holiday); doubt they meet it.

 

Bro, don't follow that phase BS. It's never accurate. Watch your thing jump to the final phase in 1 day... it is what it is.

HS yes and i am already in college.... i dual enrolled.

i have been in the real world i work midnight shifts and i went to school in the day. i got hours of sleep at night and 3 in the nap in the afternoon just to have money for my m17 and money for food cellphone gas ETC

 

where are the 4870's for the m17....flex said they are coming...i know we will get kicked with dust when the new allpowerful gets released...which is why i might sell the m17 soon for the new laptop

 

OK, changing the subject a bit.

Here is a fourth color (more like a mix between the existing colors) on my M17. It happens when booting into Linux, and booting out of it. It last for maybe 5 seconds.

First picture is booting up Linux.



This next picture is the new color. You can't see it well from the picture (cell phone) but the last picture is a comparison with the blue color. In real life they look very different. The mixed color is really bright.

It would be neat if we could control the color mixes. Hope I don't burn the lights for doing this.. lol

 

yea its just different LED lights coming on at the same or different times making weird colors...happens to me sometimes when i hard boot my laptop

 

halogod. have you tried rivatuner with your m17?

 

i only used d3d overrider...but not to overclock, why?

plus rivatuner says cannot load riva tuner64.sys so i cant use it anyways

 

because i had a nvidia 8600m gs and rivstuner had so much more tweaks. but with my ati card it didn't. i heard it was because of not having a low driver thing. (nice computer word)

 

naw, im just extremely bummed these cards dont work with overclocking...i mean what kind of architecture does not benefit from faster core and memoery speeds?

Got a email from AW, Q9000 was backordered - ships on the 25th. Hmmmm how do ya have a processor out of stock? Maybe it's one of those in high demand....

 

Do you still think there will be two 4870 comming into the m17? I have no idea but my hopes are gone since they anounced the new Notebook

i dont think so either.....just like every "upgradeable" alienware laptop...they dont care....did u see how long it took them to say the m15x can handle a hd3870?...we may never see an upgrade option

Well, still waiting guys. Shot an email to sales to follow up on the backordered processor that they were supposed to have by the 25th.

 

You will have the new B13 Bios already installed.

Let us know if you experience any stuttering issues.

 

What are the stuttering issues, so I know what to look for?

 

Does the B13 firmware include the Extreme Edition overclocking feature, or is this a separate bios update (still pending?)?

 

Rico, You'll have to go through the threads or ask one of the guys with a quad.

I've never experienced any kind of stuttering and I don't want to guess.

Crite, no the B13 does not include any overclocking abilities.

I spoke with Adrian, an Alienware rep, and basically found out that they have no plans to offer a Bios to allow overclocking in any of their laptops.
