    if I hope, if they behave well the alienwareguys with x14m price may be a reference number one in sales

    I'll decide when you see the prices, if they make decent prices, I'll be another customer

    If we take a look at current US prices, we have:

    M11X-R1 @ 599$
    M11X-R2 @ 899$

    *Both M11X-R3 and M14X-R1 will have to be in between here, unless the 1st gen-i family units drop in price, which is likely for the M11X-R2 and M15X-R1, but not for the M11X-R1 since it's already dirt cheap :)

    M15X-R1 @ 1199$
    M17X-R3 @ 1499$
    M18X-R1 @ 2020$ (confirmed price via Canadian AW website a few days ago)

    If any of these new models end up with a matte - or even less glossy than the r3 - screen, I'll be very tempted to get one. The glossy screen on the r3 is honestly leading to health problems.

    reflection -> move head around / crane neck
    -> headache
    -> advil
    -> too much advil....stomach hurts :(

    Anyone have a guide or something for how to turn optical drive into useable hdd slot?

    Dell definitely won't break the 2000$ barrier for the M18X, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be either 1899 or 1999

    For the US site, I agree. The 2020$ was on the Canadian website and AW generally jacks up the price by 100$, therefore making the M18X 1920$-ish on the US site :)

    It's gonna be really close! I'm getting more excited just reading about these facts! lol, I know what I'll be praying for tonight lol! My M11x R3 budget might get an upgrade to an M14x! Now the only thing left are the upgrades, I hope the best CPU upgrade will cost no more than $350..And I'm hating on the screen upgrade! lol

    Not sure how reflective the screens on the M17x R3 is, but the M11x R1 screen even at max brightness is seriously bad, even if you have a lampshade directly behind u or a light source at the wrong place, you have to crane your neck pretty well and look for a decent angle just to get a clear view of the screen..:| I can live with it though..It's the only complaint I have anyways.. :D

    Oh and does anyone know if Dell will be using the new hinge design on the M14x..Cause I believe it'll be using the same hinge as the M11x..And we all know how great the old hinge is.. :rolleyes:

    Expect it to end with 99, Dell always use this policy, that's why I think it will be either 1899 or 1999 ;)

    Oh ok. I thought there was a fan there because of the air intake/fan grill. Is it because of the design maybe?

    That bottom looks awesome!

    Glad it will be a semi modular but durable design like the M17x R1 and R2. I have an M11x R1 and the bottom on that thing is pathetically cheap :(

    And I will take as many fans as they can cram in there ;) (my M17x R1 has 3...as does the R2...)

    I would prefer 4 fans over a subwoofer I think. Does the M17X R1 or R2 even have a subwoofer? I don't think the R2 does (or at least I couldn't find it on mine) and I don't miss it.

    1 Fan for CPU/GPU and 1 each for the GPUs should be enough.

    M14x, there are other angles but I'm guessing you get the point.. :) Looks almost exactly like the M11x R3 and M17x R3..Though it uses the same hinge as the M11x..So the hinge looks a bit small..Hopefully it'll make use of the new design so there won't be any more hinge issues though.. :)

    Dell prices accordingly because they know Americans have less buying power than Canadians (also Canada has extra taxes we don't).

    I wish Alienware would show real pictures of their products. The AlienFX looks awesome in the pictures but then you get the laptop and there is light bleeding out of all of the keys. It only really looks good at night. Maybe this is the way it is supposed to be. But it has always been the biggest disappointment I have had with these systems. Go to a chicklet keyboard design to shore up the lighting and these things would look even more amazing!

    I think the other pics are of an M11x R2..Looks like the right size and ports are all the same..The R3s have a slightly different front grill (which looks awesome btw) as well as rear vents.

    I've been thinking a lot about why Alienware doesn't move to chicklet keyboards like the Macbooks..I mean the macbook lighting is weigh better than the Alienware's, if Alienware were to change the keyboard to chicklet, the AlienFX would be even more awesome..

    Agreed. It would make the presentation of the AlienFX really awesome. Afterall, it looks that way in the drawings...errrr pictures. I remember it was a selling point for me on the M17. The lighting looked so awesome. Then I got it and was pretty disappointed. Same with the M17X R2, though I was aware of it this time around.

    The weird thing about Dell lately is that they don't always do what makes sense... For instance.

    Previously..

    A m11r-2 maxed out would cost around $1300-1400. A m15x with I3 and 5850 would cost close to the same. Now... where is the logic in that?
    Granted the m15 wasn't maxed but it was more powerful. So is Dell thinking you are paying for small size only?

    I think Dell will charge close to the m15x for the m14x. Meaning 1099 or 1199 knowing that it's new and the performance, while being good will not be equal to the intro level m17-r3. Add a few upgrades to the 14 like 2630qm and the 555 and now your at 1399 or 1499.

    The m11-R3. They will charge a serious premium for this. They KNOW people want it. It's literally one of a kind. So.. Prepare for starting price to be 1099 or 1199 and go up from there...

    I wish I had better eyes.. I would certainly push the m11 R3 to it's limit.

    Don't get me wrong people, I'm not taking anything on the alienware lighting,I just meant the actual look of the macbook lights on the chicklet keyboard looks better. Of course it's dull that white light is the only color.. :D I'd still get alienware over mac any day of the week..I'm just saying you know..I'd think the AlienFX lighting would look better on a chicklet keyboard..But I don't think a chicklet keyboard will have a "gaming" feel to it..I love Alienware lighting!! :D

    Oh btw, just a question, in pics, the M15/M17x keyboard looks different from the M11x, is this just one of those "Dell Illusions" or is this a fact? 1 time I swear I thought the M15/M17 keyboards were chicklet and only the M11x isn't lol..I've never seen an M11/M17 so yeah..Are they different from the M11x? Aside from size I mean.. :)

    The colors would look a lot cooler if they didn't bleed out behind the keys. And if the colors were evenly distributed throughout the whole key. If not chicklets, then a better shroud between the keys and the board to cover the holes where light bleeds through. But chicklets look more stylish.

    I hope they can do something with the LEDs this time to make white look a bit better.

    My M17x's keyboard was full of pink and orange flecks.
    My speakers were purple
    My touchpad was yellow
    My "Alienware" was orange

    Well a lot of users still prefer the normal keyboard than the chicklets. When I switched to an m17x from a g73, I noticed that I typed more accurate than the chicklet.

    I hope they will fix this on the next aw systems.

    the white is not white because there are no white LEDs, white is made by combining the RGB.

    What would be the point of a 4th fan? All it would do is add noise. The subwoofer was a badly needed addition to the design.
