Okay, the M14x is now officially released. Now could a mod please create an M14x sub-forum?

On another note, looks like the M18x might really contain that Intel chipset being released next month, if it's being delayed. That would certainly help battery life.

Pure gpu vantage score of 555m is much lower than stock 460m. After OC, the cap is getting pretty close but performance is still slightly weaker. Check out DELL XPS section, 555m OC thread.

So, does anyone know at this point whether there's any difference between the 1.5GB 555M and the 3GB 555M (in the M14x) other than memory size?

Quite honestly, I really don't think there'd be any benefit to 3GB, 1.5GB would be more than enough for any game, both now and in the future, at 1600x900.

Unless you're gaming with AA set to 98,982, you'll never need 3GB on a 555m. Total megapixel marketing BS.

I'd bet money that benchmarks will reflect this (minute, if any difference).

M11x R3 or M14x..Hmm..Decisions decisions..Price of the M11x R3 is very attractive compared to the M14x..Hopefully the prices of the M14x drops a bit in a month or two.. :) all these 3 laptops support SATA 6GB/s right?

that was my question :D the "will the multi-gpu solutions in the m18x support graphics switching? bettery life?"

3 hours on the integrated chip? seems kinda low.. i bet we could get longer with no lights and light surfing..

    1) Follow his link
    2) Go to "video card" customization option
    3) Click "help me choose"
    4) Go to the rightmost tab, "compare side-by-side"
    5) You'll see a comparison of GT 555m to GTX 460m

Interestingly, the last entry is "SLI support", which is not ticked on the GT 555m, but is ticked on the GTX 460m... maybe we'll yet see a M14x with SLI 460m's?

I'm talking about gaming benchmarks not 3D mark scores

In their tested games they did look very similar unless they are running at different resolutions ? either way it's already confirmed that GT555m is easy to OC and once you do so it actually pass GTX460 performance

Point is you are not losing much compared to the GTX460, the different is tiny, not GTX460 and 6970m level of difference

I get harrrassed from time to time with my 1730 as it is lol. Though its rare, it was kinda a "holy shizznit" thats a heavy notebook, but its my next laptop.

I didnt hear anything for video card options though. honestly I'd love to see SLI 470's or more 500's, the 485m is ridiculously overpriced to the 6970 option, I just hate ATI....

Is it physically possible to fit 2 GPUs on SLI in a 14" form factor? It'll be quite a feat..Well alienware's done some pretty crazy stuff lol..That would be something..14" laptop with SLI lol.. :D Or it could just be a "if you want SLI, go for the M17x" type of thing..

It would indeed be a feat. At least then the M14x would be one of the most powerful laptops, even in the 15'' range.

Yes it would, I actually think it's "impossible"..But hey, i could be wrong lol..3 years ago no one even thought of an 11.6" laptop that could game with the best of them (well not really but you get the point)..So 14" laptop will SLI could be another leap..I mean you rarely see a 15.6" laptop with SLI, but a 14" laptop?...Now that's a different story lol..I believe Dell just put the GTX460 in there so people would get the M17x R3 if they wanted SLI..Well at least IMHO.. :)

    Wth, I chatted on Alienware.be.

Me: The M11X-R3 is already available on the US website. When will it be released here and how much will it cost.
Employee: Good day, I will check.
Employee: Sorry, we don't have an indication for that!

The warranty issue is of course crucial but... Is it possible to 'downclock' when OC is not needed? will be there a 'button' (or alike) to OC/DC?

Can't say I have a problem keeping my new m17x R3 now. The m18x can't replace my Aurora ALX desktop and doesn't have a 120hz screen. I have 3d at home and I wanted it on the road as well. But hey I am 1 and a million who actually likes 3D.
