    Hi guys

I've been busy but there seems to be a lot of activity going on. I must confess that, by now, I'm a bit lost. What cable should I be getting in order to fit the Samsung LTN184HT02 in my Clevo? Will I need to rewire it or not?

Sorry, mate, but I'm still not getting it. Do you have the part number for the correct cable? Where did you buy your's?

As for rewiring? We have 40 pins on the mobo, I presume, and we have to connect those 40 pins to a 30 pin connector on the Sony cable, right? Will an adapter do or do we need to rewire and solder?

Did you get your cable yet?

Has anyone tried to white powder-coat the M18x? I loved the look of the white G50VT, and I've seen white M11x (not powdercoated, but spray painted white) and M15x.

If the 40 to 30 pin connector worked, all that we need to do was plug it between the end for the cable that comes from the mobo and the screen, right? No rewiring needed. Unless I'm missing something...

Yeah I know it is hard without showing..
If u want to keep 40 pin cable from chi mei screen you will need to cut screen connectors on that cable and attach those connectors compatible with samsung screen
If you want to keep original cable from samsung screen you wil need to cut 30 pin motherboard connector on samsung cable and attach 40 pin connector from chi mei cabe..

I hope it make sense :D

Actually, I've been thinking: it's the board that is supplying the voltage to the screen and there are no return pins from the screen itself. Unless you short-circuit wires or mess up the ground pins, the chance of frying the board is limited.

I've searched the internet high and low for that Samsung data sheet. It is nowhere to be found.

But that is not enough afapter..
You have diffrent pinout for LED voltage even u use adapter you need to check cables
We know that 30 pin is same on these two screens
But we need to know input for that 20 pin connector..

they should be since LG and Samsung was used on the M17XR2 the question here is why on the pic you post of the RGB Cable only show like 3 cables attached to the 20 pin connector ?

Lol you got to stop that :D

That is what am trying to tell you
ON your alienware screen is all together in one cable
Here in this samsung there is 30 pin conector and 20 pin conector it is older so that is why .. nowdays everything is in one cable

Keep looking on that samsung RGB cable

Once you get the screen and cable you will connect both connectors 30pin and 20pin to screen ports and then you will have to cut 30pin connector on the other end of cable because you have 40 pin port on MB
Then you will have to cut your original 40pin MB connector from alienware screen cable KEEP some length of wires and rearrange wires and solder connector with wires onto that desired cable attached to samsung screen
There is small white connector which is going to 20pin port on samsung screen (same as for inverter) it has to be cut as well and there are 6 wires and we will have to find out which pin is what ..

OR You can do it other way round

You will use your alienware LCD cable but you will have to cut your 40pin connector which is going to your screen you will have number of wires and you will buy 20 pin connector and 30 pin connector and you will rearrange and solder wires to 20pin connector and to 30 pin connector .. But we will need to find out which cable goes where ..

I know you will have to cut cables that's inevitable again we go back to the same over and over

if you buy one of those 40 to 30 pin connectors and plug that to your laptop and the new RGB screen all you have to do is cut the 20 pin connector of the Vaio cable and solder the power to the 40-30 pin adapter

if you don't want to go this route then the only way is to cut both cables like you said

I will NOT cut my original I'll buy it and will solder wires on to it
