Alienware Prepping "Allpowerful" Laptop for Next Month/

the m17x was made by Quanta it was designed exclusivly for them

 

i thought it was by clevo sorry for having my info wrong. i know i said that already. but that is a very nice laptop. last year it was hard to choose between that and the m1730. but i stayed withmy hp 1.5ghz c2d and 8600m gs craphics cards. now i made a big jump.

 

flex is still claiming the 4870's are coming... but no one can be sure..i Loved the 1730 i actually think that was the most well made 17" i ever owned. far better than anything else i have ever had in my hands quality wise.

 

i trust they are coming FLex is riding a HUGEEEEE amount of money they are workign harder then any body this is there flag ship they have one GREAT laptop they are not going to let it fail

Is this new laptop going to be just announced in 20 days or released in 20 days?

 

its not AW thats doing to main re designing of this system AW just gets it from Flex.... So its flex that is working on this ..I really do think with some copper mods and re design the heat sink then maybe try a better fan ...who cares about noise if it works

 

flex is losing alot of money to. i hope they can resolve everything soon. it has been awhile since we have heard a update from them. they should keep there customers up to date so we don't panic and do something dum. i want to so a copper mod so badly but i don't know the results it will bring ot what copper to buy. can i use a penny. Lol.
yeah that m1730 is still a great laptop. if they updated to centrino2 then i maybe wouldn't buy a laptop becuase there would be to much to choose from. Lol.

but anyways. i hope this will be worthwhile. alienware seems to be stepping up with releases.

Sorry to change the topic briefly from flex/which graphic cards/ will it just be an overpriced bare bones. Do you think the m17x/m15x and of course the 9750 will all be phased out? Or will the prices on m17x and m15x drop dramatically? Sadly another question, starting price, do you speculate it will mirror the m17 on a cheaper side, or the m17x a more expensive system which will make it exclusive?

yes mr. moo, i understand that it is going to be quite expensive, probably starting mid 2000's. But i was curious if they are staying with the less outrageous pricing of m17. Versus the higher end price of m17x. They didn't sacrifice much performance for the more affordable version, so thank you. Also i just curious if they would even more so reduce the price of the m17x to get rid of the extra hardware lying around. Hence why i asked.

m17 is affordable because there were other resellers so they had to keep the price competitive or they would get screwed over ..... and they can get the barebones cheap so it helps lower the price

but the real 4870 w/grr5 with blow away the 280m sli if ati designs them to have a nice low power requirement and alot of room for overclocking and if the stock speeds or low.


the 4770 crossfire (desktop) beat out the 260 and the 4890. and in some caes the 280 (it is 128bit with gddr5 in crossfire.) but right now the 4850 vs the 280m is very shaky right now because no one made a thread for it yet for some reason. the msi vs the sager.

280 beats the 4850 ... but the 4870 ddr5 is saposed to be like 30 % faster easy then the 4850

i don't think the m15x is well gone until they come out with another 15 inch some peopple are willing to sacfice performance for portability.

i was just refering it to the ddr5 it saposed to add 20-30% in speed just by changing the ram because its gonna speed it up

the clock are going to be higher as well ....if they dont underclock to keep the heat down

idk i never had a matte lid i don't think. i know my notebook now is very glossy and hard to take care of. so wouldn't matte be a good thing.

 

Dude matte is the way to go, the shiny stuff is way is to dirt prone. Stealth black matte case is sick looking on the m17.

I still prefer the m7700 shiny lid .

But what really pissed me off is the unique color lid and no blue . The two tone m7700 lid was simply amazing .

i am wondering this to but don't forget price is a part of it. even if it is 280m sli i can say the price is going to be at least 2000. for something with a single card. i beat out a single 280 overclocked. we still don't know how interchangable the parts are going to be for this. i am very happy with my buy and you should be also. as long as it isn't 4870 with gddr5 and only available with that system you should be set.

If this is the "Quicksilver" it has been planned a long time ago so it can be a own project (what probably will be just like the M980NU) or just a M980NU (yeah this thing just looks alienware lol).

Anyway another bet... IT GONNA BE EXPENSIVE AS HELL (and probably isn't going to worth lol)

Do you guys think it would be a bit pricey as most are saying mid 2000's when this notebook may be a montevina proc and also knowing calpella is jus a few months down the road? Jus wondering?

 

I have to say that i don't really get the "butt nugget" in this context (English isn't my native language :X) but IF its a M980NU will be a overpriced one just like alienware always do (and M980NU isn't cheap already ).

 

I dont think it will be that pricey, because of the success of the m17, where it could be pricey if you maxed it out, but it has a nice cheap price tag if you only get the minimum.

 

no it wont be cheap even low because the low will still be extremely nice ....

being with dell now will maybe help lower it a bit but ..... its not gonna be under 1700 even at stock...... maybe even 2000

yeah i agree with mr moo. i believe the start price is going to be 2000. maybe 1700 with garbage. and maybe you have to get 2,500 for something ok.
