Hi, all!
I'm happy to introduce 2 new members to NBR from the Dell/Alienware sales organization. This will be the thread they use to accept quote requests and customers in need of assistance. They may or may not go out and post on other threads, but if they do, it won't be to sell something. Rather, it will be to just participate in the conversation on behalf of Dell/Alienware as I do.
Rachid, screen name Rachid@Dell, is a bona fide sales manager. He is based out of Casablanca, Moracco. He is fluent in French, English and Spanish. He will be covering quote requests, order placement, and general sales issues for Canadian customers. Issue resolution is not his normal area, but as a manager, he has all the resources he needs available to help out Canadian customers. He is ready to jump in and help out starting now.
The other sales representative is a gentleman of some note around Alienware and Dell circles, and a personal friend of mine. He's an all around good dude named Rev.His screen name will be Rev@AW. Rev will be responsible for US customers needing quotes and assistance. The reality is he will need some help once we get rolling, and there will be folks added to help him out once we can gauge how much help he needs.
Rev is a rock and roll drummer of a bit of note in the Nashville area. Hit him up for YouTube links to him banging on the skins. I'm sure he'll be happy to oblige. You can find him on Twitter- @AskRevatDell, on Alienware Arena, and on his YouTube channel.
Without further ado, please join me in welcoming the fellas to NBR, and start posting your quote requests. Happy computing!
As a reminder, Dell-Bill_B is not in sales, cannot process sales quotes, and can only refer you to Rev or Rachid for sales related anything.

Q: How does this new system work with quote requests?
Q: Any idea when/if the 750gb seagate momentus xt hybrid drive will be available in the M17x?
Q: Can we use this thread for quote requests on Dell computers as well as AW? -
Thanks. -
Merci -
That's really awesome of you guys to offer your services here on the board. Agreed with the above posts concerning quote request formatting and look forward to the assistance. Cheers.

Welcome Rachid and Rev!
Echoing the sentiments of the others here, I'm looking at potentially buying an M14x in the near future; should I send Rachid a PM? Or is there a better way to go about things?
Thanks! -
Can we pre-order our 680M-equipped machines from you guys? :-D

As per the other guys above, a warm welcome to the forums to you both. I've actually seen a bit of rev on youtube prior to this announcement, glad to see even more alien prescence here!.....(I'm wondering if the next announcement will be "Big Mike" as the newest NBR member lol)....
Side note to Bill - tell you what dude, If Dell wanna give me a job, I'd do the UK/EMEA version of this thread with pleasure lol -
I've got a question for you... Whats the difference between these two drives:
A6049245 Samsung 830 Series MZ-7PC256B - Solid state drive - 256 GB - internal - 2.5" - SATA-600
T5YVC Solid State Drive,256G,S3,7MM,Samsung,PM830
I've asked a couple people, bill, Fox and another. No one, including the sales reps at dell can tell me the difference. One rep told me the T5YVC is the MSATA and A6049245 is the normal bay Sata III drive were used to seeing. Any way to confirm this? -

EDIT: actually, googling the above, seems they are both SSD's not mSata. The only difference I can think of is either one may be retail version vs OEM.
MZ-7PC256B
T5YVC -
That would make sense but if you search the egg or amazon, you'd find that is the 7mm internal bay drive. No information found on the T5YVC drive but the OEM MSATA drive is also called the Samsung PM830.

Just edited my last post. One seems to be a manufacturer (Samsung MZ-7PC256B) part number whilst the other is a distributor (Dell T5YVC) part number (retail vs. OEM)
-
Wanna hear something funny, they want 550 for the T5YVC 320 for the MZ-7PC256B. They want twice for OEM what they're charging for retail? Wow...
I started this research project as Dell was giving me grief for buying my own as I was having issues setting up raid (one running at 6GB and the other running at 3GB, then for some reason, probably saving bios settings, it started working), telling me I'm unsupported. So I was looking into they're parts, comparing, also curious about MSATA as the 256GB PM 830 is only available OEM from Dell and couple others... -
Hey there, good to hear AW forum support grows stronger. Any news re reps from the EU?

Heres how the process will work-
If you are looking for help with a new purchase quote, or any general sales issues, please send a PM to either myself or Rev. Until Rev comes back next week, send them all to me.
In your PM, please include your first and last name, customer number if you have one, shipping address, email address and daytime contact number if this is for a system quote. For Canada orders, PMs will normally go to me, and for US customers, Rev. Also post some sort of sent you a PM comment on this thread. If you need any other kind of assistance related to sales or order process, please PM one of us, and explain your situation. We may not be able to solve all customer care and tech support issues, but we will refer you to the appropriate team to help when we can.
Please feel free to post any other questions or concerns you may have. I will do my best to keep up. Thanks. -
Hmm. I can't send a Private Message to Rachid because my Posts counts are too low. What shall I do?

Hi Rachid, I emailed you with all my info and configuration and you transfered me to Tarik. I wasn't able to call to get a quote so I was wondering what are your business hours and when's the best time to call.
Thanks -
sent you a pm Rachid.
Actually 2, i forgot my email adress in the first PM.
Thank you -
I ordered an M17x that I assume is an R4 (has the 660m) from QVC but I just noticed the specs on the site list an i7 Sandy Bridge processor. CS rep said it ships from Dell, not QVC, so will it be upgraded to Ivy Bridge like others' orders? He also said it will likely ship with SB if that is what was listed in the specs, but I have the sneaking suspicion that he really doesn't know either way.
-
A warm welcome from me too guys
Its great to have more little alien friends on the NBR Mothership!
A quick question on the side. I see that you have US and Canada covered, but what about us here in the UK? We would like a spot light on us too -
Rachid@Dell: I just sent a PM.
-
Does anyone have an update on when the internal Wireless HD transmitter will be back in the config?
-
I thought it was in ther already
-
Welcome to the site, I'll be sending a PM as soon as I have enough posts to do it.
Quick question, I have access to an employee purchase plan number through my work. Is there any use in mentioning that when I PM? Every time I configure systems with matched specs the EPP price is consistently higher than the regular Dell site.
Edit: located in Canada. Sent a PM -
Welcome to the site, Rachid and Rev. May your upstream connections be ever noiseless, and your wireless mice never run out of batteries. ^_^ -
