Just an update to this -
I was able to get my AW 17 with the 780m + FHD screen at a reasonable deal. (Will need to purchase an aftermarket SSD as I went with just the 700GB HDD).
If you need to contact someone to quote, try her.
After speaking with exactly 4 other people, she was the only one who offered 1. $200 gift card and 2. Student discount (I'm not a student but she asked if anyone I knew was and didn't ask for an email, just asked for the school name).
She was able to get me about $130 less than the other sales rep and also was able to "bend" the rules and apply the student discount for me.
So TLDR - Got $200 gift card; $130 less (student discount); (business day shipping also). Not the best but better than nothing
This was all done over chat.
*I received her permission to refer people to her.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm trying to haggle a deal right now with her for an M14. I tried my hand and getting a deal yesterday through chat, but the rep only gave me a 2% discount and a 5% gift card of the total purchase.

Is Rachid the only one coming on here now? Rev's last activity was last November. Also, do people like Rachid or Rev have the power to bend the configuration rules? For instance, I kind of just want to just use the lowest Alienware 18 configuration and customize from that but having a 256gb ssd is not an option on the website. Would Rachid or Rev have the power or connections to make having a 256gb ssd possible in the lowest configuration?

If anyone needs the name of a Canadian rep pm me and I will pass on the information I got a really good deal on the new Alienware 18 about 28% off.

I was able to get an AW 17 with 4700+16gb ram+750hdd and the 780m for $1900 before tax after 2 long days of haggling with several agents on the phone and on chat. They eventually will crack after having to go back to the supervisor for review several times. It seems they are put under a lot of pressure to make sales and will do almost anything to keep you. The process reminded me of used car shopping, if you walk away they call you every 2 hours the next day with a new and improved offer.
The hard part was finding someone to customize a build because the 780m only now comes in the $2599.99 and higher models here in Canada.
I didn't want BluRay, caching ssd or the 4800, i couldnt see the extra $600 value which I can turn around and invest into a good SSD.
All in all really happy with the price but disappointed how much work it took to achieve the order I wanted. Having the tiered configs and parts "not available" for certain configs is too much of an Apple move. Dell has to understand the market AW is trying to reach and its defintely not noobs that have no concept of money/value of a performance machine. Having been a previous AW owner, the novelty that brought me back was being able to customize your machine and get exactly what you wanted, not what a team of marketing degrees sees fit to increase margins.
All in all pretty excited. -
So guys I already call dell and haggle for the price so I got the price for 2800 tax included with 280 dell card. is it a good deal?
I have it with the spec
