Hmm don't know how to read into this but on the desktop side the only refresh that has occurred has been for the Windows based X51. The Aurora line and the Ubuntu based PC's have not been refreshed. So maybe there could be a tie in with the rumored Steam hardware.

Guess we'll find out in a few days.

" Alienware has scheduled a launch event for unspecified new products on the evening of June 10th — the same day as Microsoft and Sony's scheduled press events. (1)"

    So, stay tuned... ;)

The news is probably just the laptop reveal for the general public, going by the promo vids on the Alienware site.

X51 already has it's Haswell update, maybe they'll reveal some other new PC case design/model, but my guess is the only news is the laptop redesign, and the Haswell hardware in desktops.

I think you're right about that. It's interesting that the Aurora desktop line has not been updated yet. Curious to see what comes of that.

Aaaaand.... thats it? . They didn't even go over the new specs or screen!

I thought they would have a comprehensive thing going on, and possibly be unveiling a new product/line. Instead they just showed off the new laptop chassis for 3 minutes without even zooming in on them.

    Well, that was awkward.

Pretty sad that the "party" only had a small number of people attending (although better odds for winning one of the three laptops in the giveaway), and that they just put out the laptops without any big reveal or even telling us the specs or features.

Looks like a lot of other people knew the AW "party" was a bust, not just those who showed up but everyone else online, there were only ~1300 people watching the stream.

    Oh well.

Maybe it'd be better if AW just skipped the whole "party" and just had a booth at E3 with the products for the press and attendees to try out.

Maybe....they could even save some money and make the products less expensive?

They were streaming on several sites. The Youtube one peaked at around 4,000 watchers.

    Yeah. Reminded me of this:

Wow, I was kinda expecting to wake up to a whole load of positive vibe and loads of posts discussing the streamed live launch. I was considering getting up at 4am UK time to watch it, I'm now glad that I just have some extra zzzzzz's :D

From a lot of the close-up shots I've seen, I have to say... I'm not impressed.

Previously, every part of the laptop was completely different than the competition. Now, the outside looks nice, but then you open the thing up, and it's just like any other Clevo/MSI laptop. It's boring, and doesn't stand out.

I personally like the new look of the AW laptops. My friends son has a M18x and I know it's a preference thing but I never really liked the look. The new look presents an aesthetically clean and modern looking laptop. I also like the way the lights are shaped along the side of the laptop and on the back.

It's a rather good looking machine.

who ever is planning on getting the new AW 14x don't do it. your better off getting the razer blade 14 or something else not that thick hideous looking thing. but that razer blade is too expensive.
