after going through the steam forums for the game it turns out there is a way to change the texture quality which is set for you by default in Ryse: SoR.
1) go into the game folder and look for system.cfg
2) type in "sys_spec_TextureResolution=x" without the quotes.
3) in place of x, you can select between 4 setttings 1 - 4
1 = Low
2 = Med
3 = High
4 = Very High
1 - 3 use less than 2GB of VRAM, 4 uses 2.8GB VRAM
yeah, that's crytek's fault for not varying it up.
it has great graphics but the story is a throwaway and the gameplay mechanics need some work because i noticed that if i had a full focus bar (the white blocks in the top left corner of the screen) i could use it to attack and execute 3 barbs, and with the focus regen selected, i could regen the focus and be practically unstoppable....that's the kind of thing that breaks the gameplay i think.
the executions are really reaction time tests disguised as QTEs and the faster you execute the moves the better the execution score...that took me playing through both versions to figure that out LOLz

still hoping someone will get the evil within and see if it can be played on a 780m.

with COD:AW coming out in less than 3 weeks I would be very interested in seeing how this edition runs on PC cos ghosts ran like utter balls!

the new 344.48 drivers have an sli profile for ryse, plus crytek released a patch withe following fixes:

I know it's not the newest title out there, but it finally became available at a price range that I find acceptable. I grabbed this on Steam for only $14.99 today. I captured my first 15 minutes of noob gameplay experience with this title to share with anyone that hasn't played it already. Cool game. The cut scenes are a little long and boring for my personal preference, but it has some nice hand-to-hand combat similar to DmC. Only downside I can see right off the bat is the frame rate lock. You may as well use vsync and crank up the AA because of the crippled 60 FPS cap. But it is really smooth and enjoyable. I was able to forgive that with Wolfenstein: The New Order, and I think I can with this one, too. I was never into the Metal Gear franchise before because I don't do consoles. I used my "Reign, Rain Pain" slogan at the end of the video.

COD:AW system requirements
-
It'll run worse? The graphics certainly look better.
-
i mean i hope that sledgehammer games actually puts effort into the pc port like treyarch. after ghosts i am not buying anything made by infinity fraud!
-
COD: Advanced Warfare looks awesome. Since I do not participate in online multiplayer games, I have zero issues with COD: Ghosts. It plays really fantastic for me... fast, smooth and glitch-free... enjoyed it immensely. It's actually a lot smoother with fewer bugs than BF4 gameplay in my own experience, which is also 95% offline single-player campaign. I have played around with BF4 MP for the sake of testing and curiosity, but have never launched COD MP. I'm not even sure if the MP component has been installed.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soundtrack is pretty decent, too. If anyone wants it, it is available here for free. -
i find the fps to be really all over the place and random black screens really kill the game.
-
You mean in Ghosts or Metal Gear? I don't have that issue with either one, but Metal Gear seems to peg the needle at 30 FPS in cut scenes and 60 FPS in everything else, rarely ever budging more an a couple of FPS either way.
-
-
latest update for the evil within makes sli a bit more stable. 60 fps indoors most of the time gtx780m with occasional dips to lower 50's and rarely goes down to 40's. Maybe its just me. lol.
-
-
Huh?
Where's the 180 FPS cap? If they are going to make it adjustable, why stop at 60?

LOL... wouldn't that be something?. Finally an exciting aspect to XBox or PS4 ownership emerges.
They would probably barely be able to hold a steady 60.

I know it's frustrating, taking a step forward by taking a step back. For years we did not have this issue and suddenly when displays start to get interesting software caps start coming in.
-
This is what happens when the lowest common denominator sets the bar. They make room at the table for console and tablet jockeys and here we are. I could say screw 'em all, but the bitter reality is they need to sell games to make money. They can't do that if the games are only capable of working on platforms with least half-way respectable specs.

got advanced warfare preloaded will see how it fares in a few days.
-
Huh i thought game release on 3rd isnt it?
-
preloading means one doesn't need to download on release day and just jump right into the game. -
lol i know, but it is only for PS4 user. Just confused how can you preloaded on PC...:S
-
-
ahh i ordered it from Amazon, hence no option to download on Steam
-
it seems that youtube now has 60fps videos available cos i saw some quake (2?) vids playing at 60fps and it was very smooth!

You don't happen to be an American expat from the state of Missouri do you? -
At long last I finally pledged and supported Star Citizen. Here is a video of the dog fight module.
Notice how greedy the game is on CPU and how little GPU it requires.

That's refreshing. It will be nice to have a product that accentuates how pathetic some of the crap hardware is that gamers are having a feeding frenzy over.
-
Yeah I agree. That's why I'm more than happy to get behind these guys. They aren't gimping or making any concessions to sympathize with anyone's artificially inflated idea of performance.

finally got COD:AW running and will record some nice 60fps vids.

How do you like it? I want it really bad, but won't bite until I can get it on sale for around $25 or less.
Finally got Watch Dogs for $16 online today... waiting for the email with the Steam/Uplay CD Key (purchased outside of business hours in the country selling it). From what I hear, it's not worth much more than that, but I'm looking forward to tinkering with Brother TBoneSan's SLI tweaks for it.
I see Amazon has Titanfall for $10 now, but there's no way in heck I am paying any amount for a game with no offline campaign and requires a monthly membership fee to Micro$haft in order to play. Doesn't matter if the game is good or not, that really blows chunks.TBoneSan likes this. -
1) there's a plethora of options for you to control....more than even treyarch's PC versions of COD and better than IW.
2) fps is pretty stable. 50-60fps but mainly 60fps.
the stutterring that we were seeing in ghosts I now have a good idea of what it was - shader caching. for some reason IW decided to make shader caching during cutscenes by default for the PC port of ghosts and hence why the pre-mission videos kept stuttering like crazy. But in AW that's off by default but when i turned it on it caused the videos to stutter so i turned it off with pretty much everything else nearly maxed out.
if the camera goes crazy in the video it's probably cos i upped my mouse sensitivity too highMr. Fox likes this. -

Titanfall requires a subscription fee?! Are you talking PC or console?Mr. Fox likes this. -
I don't do console for anything, but it looks like the PC version requires a XBox Gold Membership unless I am reading the information wrong from skimming too quickly.
Here is where it can be had for $10.00 - Amazon.com: Titanfall [Instant Access]: Video Games
Does the XBox Gold membership apply only to console? Even though it is only $10, I have no use for it if I have to pay a monthly fee. My online multiplayer interests are too low and infrequent to justify a monthly access fee.
Edit: answered my own question, I think. Only shows that requirement when XBox version buttons are selected. I still think $10 is too much to pay for a game you cannot play solo. I may snag it anyway, just for the heck of it. If I play it two or three times a year for a few hours at a time that's still cheaper entertainment than going to a movie theater once. Knowing my luck, the servers will be shut down and people will be playing something else before I get around to finding time for it. -
titanfall PC doesn't need xbox gold membership.

Nah only console peasants have to pay for online multiplayer. It's never been a thing on PC unless we're talking subscription-based MMO's. PC gamers would be up in arms if it were the case.
-
my COD:AW vid is up but give it some time to see it at 60fps.
-
The gift that keeps on taking, LOL.
Edit: Definitely going to have to grab this one... -
That's just how MMO games work since there is a continuous stream of content for years that needs to be paid for somehow. Although since the advent of F2P, ones which require a subscription are basically extinct. ESO and EVE Online are the only big ones I can think of ATM still using the traditional business model. Most are microtransaction-based with optional subscriptions but anybody can start playing without paying a cent. Even WoW is F2P up to a certain level.
There are MMO games of other genres besides RPG, they're just the most common. If you're interested in shooters, PlanetSide 2 is a really good F2P MMO FPS and one of my favorite games. EVE Online is an MMO spreadsheet simulator. And then there's Star Citizen, which TBoneSan showed earlier, an MMO space sim spiritually descended from Wing Commander.
Yeah AW has both campaign and multiplayer. You wouldn't expect anything less from a CoD title.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Well, I love the COD, Battlefield and Crysis franchises more than any other games. No way in heck I am paying $60 for it on Steam, but I see I can snag it online from a Steam key vendor for $46... very tempted to pull the trigger on it now, but I know I will be mad when it drops to $20 or less like Watch Dogs just did, LOL. I am always glad when I wait and can buy 2 or 3 for the price of one.
I have very narrow interests in many things and games are no exception. I love FPS, like third-person shooters a little bit less. Run and gun with minimal plot almost always makes me happy, but I don't really like anything multiplayer online very much. Strategy and RPG games, and games with super long storylines turn me off real bad unless I can skip through the cut-scenes without missing critical information needed for the chapter that follows. If there are too many puzzles, secrets to unlock and level-up, clue hunts or too much pausing for dialogue or interaction with other characters is needed to progress through the game, I swiftly lose interest no matter the genre. -
with my settings i did see some non-shooting parts drop into the 40s. start of the 2nd mission (the funeral bit) was in the 40s but then bump into the 50-60s again.
there are some really good gadgets you get to use this time around.Mr. Fox likes this.
