anyone got the new dragon age? post a vid if you have!

The trailers for Inquisition are nice looking, but I'm not a big fan of the RPG genre. But, if someone wants to post a video that would be fun to watch.
-
i am tempted to drop a few bucks on it and see how it fairs.
-
OK, installed DA:I and with my first time tweaking settings i am seeing an easy 60fps very early in the game though i think that'll tank soon!

Looks fun. A little too MMO style of RPG for my tastes but still a solid looking game. I see it's running like butter for you
-
Looks pretty decent. Does it have an option to change from third-person to first-person camera view?

Interesting, as soon as i make it to the boss battle in the prologue the fps starts to tank, dropping into the 40s for like a second or 2. there are also some really weird spots where the fps will just tank for no reason - one example is the room you wake up in post closing the breach. There's a window with a chest in front of it across from your bed on the right is a shelf. if i stand where the chest is and look at the window - 60fps. But if I turn the camera to the bookshelf - 43-45fps.
EDIT: so yeah, my video i think was premature...oh well but then again i knew that it would tank sooner or later. 30fps it is for this game! -
I've been trekking the nostalgia trail lately and managed to find a copy of Wanted: Weapons of Fate - the 2009 movie tie-in game to the 2008 film from the people who made Payday: The Heist - Overkill Software though formally of Grin.
I plan to do a little nostaglia write up for this once I get enough game time under my belt.

next nostalgia vid will hopefully be the 2007 game John Woo Presents Stranglehold. I just bought the game off the eBayz and hoping it gets here soon.

BOO! really wanted to record some Splinter Cell: Chaos theory but nope, the game crashes when i start plus if i chuck it into xp compat mode i don't have access to shadowplay at all.
EDIT: my copy of John Woo Presents Stranglehold should be arriving none to soon!
EDIT 2: I'm continuing my nostalgia trail with Call of Duty 2 - back when it was still good and not the crap that it is today. maybe i should just call myself the nostalgic gamer LOL -
Still on the nostalgia trail - this time its Call of Duty 2.

Syndicate (2012). While a recent release it runs pretty well. I believe I have an FOV mod to increase the default FOV.

John Woo Presents Stranglehold. Runs really well even though I am using win 8.1

tried TC's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and...
1) DX11 is quite heavy and is high temp producer when running at 60fps.
2) DX9 is less intensive and has lower temps.
3) the game can't hold a stable 60fps whether it's running on DX9 or DX11 (this also produces high temps)
4) changing the resolution doesn't seem to make the fps stable - fps drops in the same areas whether set to 1600x900 or 1920x1080
5) 30fps seems to be the only "playable" option here.
6) 360 controls are broken.
so I could run it at 1600x900 and 1920x1080 in both DX9 and DX11 at 30fps to keep temps in the 50-60 deg c range. 60fps in DX9 has low temps by not stable, while in DX11 it's not stable but also produces high GPU temps.
so forget playing it at 60fps.
DirectX 9

Looks like a great game. I really wish more of the third-person shooter games had an option in the settings to change to first-person mode. I like first-person perspective so much better. To me, it looks better and controls work better than third-person perspective.
-
the game supports the 360 controller of course and i was using that while playing cos the keyboard and mouse will be a bit difficult i think to play with.Mr. Fox likes this. -
I just grabbed in on the Steam sale. I am not a fan of playing games using a controller, but I have one wired and two wireless XBox 360 controllers for PC that I should use a little bit before they freeze up from lack of use.
I do have to admit that a controller does work better for Mortal Kombat on PC, but all FPS shooter games are much better with keyboard and mouse and FPS games represent about 99% of the games I like and play the most. -
with everything set to high at 1080p you'll rarely dip below 60fps and if it does it's like a 0.5-1fps drop for less than a second - but in other words it's rock solid. though if you set everything to very high you'll jump between 40-60fps but mainly stay within the 40-50fps range. so if you want the highest settings, then be prepared to play the game at 30fps.
for some reason the game doesn't hide mouse cursor and you'll see it in the records i made.
EDIT: If i knew the pc version would run so well and i am amazed at a japanese dev like i was with MGR:Revengeance, then i would have held of on getting a PS4. -
it seems that the following settings will cause the fps to drop in MGSV:GZ for a 780m...
1) model detail
2) screen filtering
3) effects
i'd keep those at high and everything else to very high. all other settings seem to have no real noticable drop in fps within the 0.5-1 fps margin of error.Mr. Fox likes this. -
I am running everything full blast on graphics settings and I don't see any FPS fluctuation to speak of with 780M SLI. It seems to have the needle pegged at 59.9 FPS. It really sucks to have yet another game engine hardcoded to be locked at 60 FPS even with vsync disabled, but I am glad it works well with SLI. I changed my refresh rate to 70Hz and enabled vsync and it changed nothing. Still pegged at 59.9 FPS. Not complaining about that too much, because it looks absolutely amazing... smooth as silk, too. I just wish they would stop catering to the lowest common denominator in the gaming world.
I am uploading a video right now. It has a long ways to go (about 90 more minutes to finish the upload). I will be back with the video embedded when it is ready for viewing. -
though it does have 4k support....would like to see how it performs on a 980m.

My 980M cards are supposed to be delivered by UPS tomorrow.
Try this driver and see if it helps your FPS be more stable: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...op-driver-mod-780m-880m-980m-mobile-gpus.html -
The video upload is done now. To skip the opening video, jump ahead to 8:25.

They will have the Clevo x-brackets and smaller screws. I have a couple of sets of spare Alienware support plates with heat spreaders that I can replace them with if I need to. If the brackets are already stuck on the cards, I might just use them as is, because the vRAM really doesn't get that hot in the M18x. Both GPUs are mounted directly above fans that draw air across the vRAM.
-
-
so hoping that GTAV will run well enough at 30fps.
-
Here's another Dear Rising 3 video running on 980m SLI. Finally it runs good enough (for a dodgy port) for me to want to play through properly.
For those of you who are thinking of upgrading to a 980m,,the game runs likes a champ on 1 card but I still did the SLI hack anyway.

anyone care to run watch dogs on their 980Ms (sli or single)?

Hey I'll try and do a video for you when I get time. I heard there isn't much improvement with more GPU grunt but I don't believe it.

Isn't SLI still broken in Watch Dogs since the last patch?

It's amazing when a game that forces it to be patched gets broken, it nicely ensures everyone gets done in.
