Haha thanks. Yeah comes with the territory. That's okay I figure they're just jelly.![]()
I've been tweaking a little further with an in-game contrast/sat./brightness mod that gets installed with STEP and I'm really liking it so far. The colors are getting nicer and nicer.
So I'm a little stuck on what game to record next. I was thinking maybe Alan Wake? Anyone have a request?

Gulf of Oman - 1300m Headshots - YouTube
Me sniping on my M14x, on a mix of High and Ultra settings, it's around 40 fps - 25 scoped in, specs are in my sig.
I'm stoked that the M14x can run the game so well, turn it down to low-med you get 60 fps solid for tourneys or scrims or w/e, it's brilliant for on the go gaming, tournament or for fun, it's more powerful and less expensive then the competition's Razer Blade, I will do a full review later but I won't be doing any game tests I don't need to, the computer speaks for itself on multiple levels. Just look at the video to see what I mean. -
Nice headshots! I'm a big fan of this game... as you can tell from my avatar, what do you use to record your gameplay?
-
No offence but the ease with which the shots are taken only proves how silly the game mechanics are. The shotgun slug sniping case pretty much defines what's the true worth of BF3 as a shooter needing any skill is. I mean the game is cool and all, but it's just a run-n-gun shooter lacking any kind of finesse (let's face it). My point is that there are definitely too many shooters out there and no single properly tactical game in which, so to say, 'hunting' skills could be truly tested. Too bad Ghost Recon Future Soldier turned out to be such a failure. My hopes were high and I tried to seriously play the game (rifleman level 42, ~2k kills, ratio 2.57), but I just gave up. I am tired of running and gunning. :-/
Oh btw, everything runs best on AW -
-
BTW, We aren't, by any chance, trying to prove that a console shooter is actually very realistic, are we? :> -
@Chinexican: I used FRAPS -
I concur. Not only is BF3 NOT a run-n-gun type of game, it is infact one of the most strategic and tactical FPS games out there today, atleast on the multiplayer level! If you want run-n-gun, opt for MW3. For extreme realism, there's Operation Flashpoint and ARMA, as already stated. BF3 holds a very lovable middle ground.
@OP, nice video there! Although I don't see what this has to do with your laptop, but some great shots still. -
-
I am really surprised that it ran so well don't mean that in a bad way but i have a older m17x r2 and didn't buy it on pc as i thought i would have to run it on medium settings 4870m crossfire showing its age on newer games now like crysis 2 and such. BTW good shots thats how people should snipe none of that quick scope nonsense want a one hit kill at close range use a shotgun

I'm kicking myself now for not purchasing Max Payne 3 when it was on sale on STEAM. Looks awesome.

Just for fun, here is some Clive Barker's Jericho video and gameplay footage. This is an older game, but still tons of fun, and it's for sale on Steam for only $4.99 USD.

On the game, your CPU is working its A off while your GPU's are going Ho-Hum -
Yep, the GPUs are not being used efficiently because of ho-hum drivers. Same thing with this one... Even the AMD Catalyst CrossFire profile specific to this game does nothing, LOL.
Now this is definitely the classic run-and-gun game... love the Serious Sam series... all of 'em.

I just picked up this game on the weekend Steam sale for $2.50 and have to say it was well worth the price. Picked up 3 extra gift copies for the kids. Will be nice for LAN death matches.
Here's my first crack at playing it.

i have 3 boys myself, but they are all grown and out on their own. I do miss our lan parties we used to have playing Action Quake II..

I have plenty of videos already... but none on my M14x. Haven't really clocked in any real gaming time on the M14x yet. I take it this thread is exclusively for videos made on Alienware notebooks.

edit: Video up!
No video for this yet but I wanted to show the performance of the 7970m (stock) on Square Enix's latest big title, Sleeping Dogs. I'm still going to tweak the settings some but here are some prelim screens. I spent most of the night figuring out how to get the graphics settings to save and getting the game to launch. It's still a little buggy from what I'm reading.
Note that I'm using the latest build of Radeon Pro to force Vsync and TB. The last screen above with the RP OSD is using max settings (from before I figured out how to change them), which is why the framerate dropped. Extreme AA kills the performance in this game.
Will try to get some video up tomorrow of this and Darksiders 2 (FUN game).
==========
I had to do a lot of testing to find the right exposure for Sleeping Dogs because it has so many strong light sources. It's really something to look at. So I apologize if some parts of the video are a little over-exposed or are too dark. This was the best I could get out of it. There are two benchmarks and some gameplay in the video. The first benchmark was performed with the in-game settings I'm currently using and the 2nd bench is with max settings. Vsync and TB are forced through Radeon Pro in both videos. Enjoy

They're up! Multiple video posting has been disabled so I can only embed one video per post. I'm adding Sleeping Dogs video to the post above this one.
For this video below, I tried to catch as much action as possible. Darksiders is a lot of puzzle solving so I spliced it up to keep things moving.
PS sorry for the double post. Hate doing it but could be a while before someone checks for an edit in my last post.Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -

Nah, don't worry about double post, I kinda like 1 vid per post and I keep a decent eye on the thread. Good job.
25% cpu and 70% gpu usage is a bit dissapointing on Sleeping Dogs though, weak optimization possibly. It's a lot of good hardware going to waste. -
Thanks, yeah I expected to see higher CPU usage after I saw the world population option. Figured they would've off-loaded more of that at least. And GPU util goes right up to 100% so long as you disable vsync, just like in Darksiders 2. Does no good for me though with all the screen tearing.
Worst frame loss happens while driving (sleeping dogs). It's a lot like saint's row the third. Numbers are actually pretty close from what I remember of playing SR3. I will say though that SD is one of the nicest looking games I've seen. The amount of multicolored neon signs they use along with the environment objects and extra eye candy is really impressive visually.
(mod: thanks for the merge - I really do dislike double posting)
-
Here's another BF3 clip... mostly just a little running around to test frame rate.

Down and Dirty Caspian Border 64 - as requested by Brunoc
Don't laugh at me.I seldom play BF3, and always in campaign by myself when I do. Never online multi-player (it shows by the video I didn't know what to do) so I had to figure out what you were asking from me. But, I think this will give you a good idea of frame rate if that's what you are curious about. Remember, FPS is reduced because of screen recording overhead.
-
Good to give you an idea, but you entered an empty server, ideally join a server with more people. -
I'll try again soon and see if I can identify a server with other players. I just don't care for online gameplay that much and didn't take time to try that figure it out. I only play solo or on LAN. I am re-uploading the video because it did not go up in 1080p for some reason. You cannot read the FPS that I think you were looking for. I'll edit this post and add it when it is done.
Edit: it's done now. The OSD read-out should be legible now @ 1080p.

thanks to Quagmire for the awesome Max Payne 3 clip. Though I did get confused at first at how the heck you were able to get 120FPS on a single 7970M at such settings. Until I read the description that is
. You may need to add in a bubble or something on that clip just to make it straight as I notice others who wonder the same thing.
I set everything to max except MSAA off, V-Sync on and SSAO instead of HBAO. The first night which is yesterday I got around 34-35 and occasional dip at 22-23. Today on the other hand I got 60-100 FPS according to FRAPS. Is that weird? -

meh with the bubble, sometimes it's fun to say RTFD, sometimes I just let a comment whistle in the wind. MP3 has/had a lot of problems with counters, even different versions of fraps. I don't put much time in MP3 FPS anymore, just as long as it's smooth.
Enjoy your machine!
Prototype 2 vid, cool game for $25 imo. Just got the "Tendrils" mutation and the best action of the vid is when I was trying them out, tis a blast. Camera is a bit wonky, but I've been able to get it under control.

Wow, those tendrils are pretty sweet weapons.

I made a video in GW2 tonight using Afterburner. I just used the default settings, I will have to boost the recording settings as they don't do the game justice. Is way too dark, and grainy. But I must admit, it was a lot smaller file than fraps, and I didn't notice any slowdown whatsoever.

Hey guys I just picked up my M14x and I was way more than happy with it. I wanted to share this video I made showing how good it runs GTA IV with VisualIV, Car mods, and HD road textures. This laptop is amazing and I hope you guys enjoy.

Does anyone know why the video records normal when I record 3D gameplay?
This was just a test to see how GW2 would play in max settings while in 3D. A whopping 12 fps when looking over the landscape far away while recording. lol, but it was actually quite playable. I did several videos, and killed several mobs, and my eyes are still bugging.

I've never heard of anyone being able to capture 3D screen output in 3D format before. Have you been able to do this under any circumstances?
-
just wondering as I have the dual images when playing, but recording is normal. just seems weird.
