Bios V41 released

again:



I won't argue with you, or get into some pissing contest about who can produce the more-reliable, most accurate links. I just don't care that much.

But when my BIOS version first reads "vX32RC1" and that changes to "v41", I win, regardless.

so either way, I don't really care what you think of what I said.

So this 'update', updates the FIRMWARE of the multimedia board and changes nothing about your BIOS. correctomundo?


Edit: Since Mystik's BIOS version has changed, I have no clue about what is updated and what not.

Then say you don't want to argue about it. Even if you did update your system BIOS "somehow" to v41 you would still be wrong.

 

His bios version didn't change, he said he would post pictures of before and after when he gets home.

And yes, you are correct it will update the Multimedia board "firmware" if you have a older version. If you already have v41 it will say... current version is v41

 

I don't have that trouble Taco. Do you have Vista Service Pack 1 installed yet? I do.

Here's something that occoured to me... I think someone mentioned it earlier, but I'm uncertain. the v41 BIOS is likely to be the same as the X32RC1, just a final. so if you have the x32 bios, the v41 won't need to be applied.

Whichever. again, I highly doubt there's an independant bios for the Multimedia board.

I don't have "System BIOS X31 RC1" on my list. I have the 8700M GT.

Despite the downclocking I experienced under x29, I just don't have the option.

hey I can tell you 100% cause I've done it myself it did not update my system bios. It only updated the multimedia "Firmware"

You have to expand "AREA-51 M15X 15" WXGA+ W/CAM SIL-RIP-PNT" by clicking on it... drivers for the devices included will pop up.

The way I interpret what BlackPit is saying, or at least the info I am curious about myself is how you can check what firmware is currently installed on your particular machine. Not, where I can find which ones are available for download.

Commonly yes, System and "VGA"...

the rest... maybe.

(System and VGA are on the information page (first page) of the BIOS... F2 on post)

I checked by trying to flash it and the program told me that my current version was already v41

Does this update only increase the touch buttons' sensitivities? Or does it also fix the problem with the touch buttons not responding out of sleep/hibernation?

nofate, that is an update to the touch controls that is not a complete bios update.

 

Does this actually fix the problem with the touch controls not responding when it comes out of sleep mode?

That's the only issue I'm having.

 

I'm not really sure mine are kinda hit and miss some times they work and sometimes they do (after sleep)

if you already have x32 you dont need to update the to final one really. i heard there wasnt any change in the final version. You have to update v41 and x32 seperately. you cant put them on the same disc.

I updated to the final X32 bios. No change really.

I'm using the drivers 177.72 from laptopvideo2go and it's pretty good. Brought up my 3dMark06 scores to 9393 using the 1280x720 resolution to test. Crysis plays a lot smoother too. I really recommend these. Another cool thing is that the GPU downclocks ONLY on idle mode this time. My idle temps are on the 45C mark.

i just decided to try 177.72. my 3d mark scores were 9267 but since in idle it will bring performance down to level 1 it really helps with the idle temps .

 

I want to try this new bios cuz i've heard it can solve a bunch of problems that i have been having.

but i've never updated a bios before and i don't know what kind of risks i am taking with this. I know i could seriously damage the machine if i install incorrectly. But if i manage to do it properly what else will i have to do?
