    just follow this easy guide

    http://4help.alienware.com/cgi-bin/...2hfdGV4dD11cGRhdGluZyBiaW9z&p_li=&p_topview=1

first scroll down half way to see the first steps for windows vista.

follow the guide up until step 5. when they tell you to restart with the disk in and go in the bios thats the really long and inefficient way so dont follow what they say after step 5. you should use a cd since i dont know if a dvd would work. after you finish burning just pop the disk back into the drive and restart. after the alien head press f12 and select the disk option and boot from that. make sure you are plugged in and just dont touch the comp while the bios is flashing. after thats done the comp will restart and you can take the disk out and you wont have to do anything anymore. if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself just call roswell and they will be glad to walk you through it.

I'd rather not do it myself. it is better to not void my warranty.

you wont void your warranty doing it yourself. one of the AW rep said that. i think it was james. i dont think you should send the lappy in just to update the bios. if you really dont trust yourself talk to Roswell and they will walk you through the operation. Its really easy. Its alot easier than it seems. If you send it in and then you ever learn how to do it you will really hit yourself for seeing how easy it was to update.
