how long you people were downloading this CC?It has been 1 hour and is not finishe.I have 1 MB internet speed
-
@nofate: it took me about two or three minutes, and i certainly don't have a 1mb line. -
Yep reboot makes the face recognition system work for me. Sometimes it loads fast but sometimes I wait for it lol. Tempting to just manually type your password. I wonder if theres anyway to make it load fast all the time.
-
i think the first few times the system has to "learn" your face... after that, i think it'll log you in pretty snappily.
-
No I mean the initialization takes a while sometimes for me. But sometimes its fast. I wonder why.
-
ok its kinda cool but its also totally unnecessary and its slowing my startup and when i go into my account.
how do i disable it or get rid of it?????? -
Slide the slider all the way left to 'Disabled' -
I've been having fun with this, trying to see if it would unlock by placing a photo of me in front of it. So far it's quite clever and doesn't get fooled. It's getting smarter, too...
Like I said - CREEPY! -
-
its working perfect for me!
also the added feature of "Go Dark" that turns off all the lights is pretty handy now -
-
Right click on the alien head in the system tray
-
whatever happened to good old Fn+F11?
-
This one turns off everything
-
say it ain't so. sweet. guess that renders findvikas "TurnOffLights" utility useless then
EDIT: no it doesn't. touchpad, alienheads, and touch controls are still on. so it does the same thing as Fn+F11.
EDIT No.2: matter of fact, you can reverse it by pressing Fn+F11, proving it's the same thing. -
Now all we need is a nicely working version for us 64bit-ers

oh, wait, yeah. there's two different ones on mine, one's "deactivate AlienFX" (turns off only keyboard and lid lights), and "turn off" (which deactivates everything). so thanks for being patient with me
-
Lol no probs, i dont have anything better to do on a tuesday night
-
-
no sense and touch there tho
-
My install was floorless after loading .net 3.5
when I fn + f11 i have touch pannel, alienware sign and alien head still light up.
when i right click "go dark" everything goes out !!! wahooo
(also when i plug my usb mouse my touch pad deactivates as before, just thought i would add that usless info)

Hi dudes,
I have a little problem after installing this new CommandCenter.
I first installed NET framework 3.5 SP1 and then did the auto update of the command center.
After that didn't work (only installed the camera drivers for sense) I did the manual installation as suggested.
Everything works fine so far (face recognition, touch, light changing)
BUT
although my m15x is ripley design it now shows a skullcap laptop in the lighting section and the "ALIENWARE" logo is not lighting up.
Does anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions? -
no such problem for me!
-
mine still shows the ripley one.... interesting
Sorry no I cant offer any other comment than that!!! -
-
Aw ****, I just realised that it's not only skullcap design but I get shown the m17x instead of m15x - there's way more control zones on that one (which I can't use) and I guess that this messed up my AW - logo...
I so don't want to flash the freakin' keyboard -
-
Does anyone else notice that when they try to add a program to the disable list, an error message comes up and command center crashes?
-
No I had the automatic download and then just ran the setup in the temp folder. No manual download...
-
I don't see this update on the U.S. website yet.
-
I did not download it via web site but over automatic update...
-
When I goto my Hive and download the command center its file sais 1017 is this the correct one i need to download, also how do i "show hidden files" im used to XP...
-
-
is the new one on Myhive? some have said it isn't online yet...
-
-
I already tried that and installed the CommandCenterBundleSetup-Mobile-1018 that is available from my myHive section - now the additional lighting zones, sense and touch are gone but the logo still won't light up and I get displayed an m17x in skullcap ...
-
The "Sence" feature in my command center wont open... although the other 3 do..
-
-
I guess that I'm gonna wait for the update to be placed in myHive.
-
Try running the install again. But if it originally downloaded 1.28Sp1 but won't install, then use my guide. but if it didn't download then you should try to download it from here. <M15X ripely only.
If you are having a problem when after it downloads it goes away and when you run CC update again it gives you a error message.
Here is what to do.
1) turn on View Hidden files, via control pannel/folder options.
2) navigate to c:User/"youaccount"/AppData/Local/Temp
3) locate & Run - CommandCenterSetup application
4) This will make a new folder in Temp file called "IXP000.TMP"
5) open that folder.
6) Run Command Center 1.28SP1
7) setup should run and install the new command center as well as a firmware update which is for the webcam.
In XP, To see hidden files:
1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the 'View" tab.
3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Finally got it to work. CommandCenter is still slow as ever and I can't seem to get advanced themes to work.
I really doubt that the facial login is very secure. Anyone try it with a picture of themselves. Chance is, all your friends has a picture of you so this just makes it easier to mess with your machine for them. -
-
I have my sense on Continuous with a constant update interval. Now that it has learned my face it is scary because as soon as I walk away it logs off. And when I sit back down it logs in. I want to know how it works in the dark though. You can set sense to disable if you are playing games, BTW.
-
Besides, we're not really talking security, are we? It's a novelty thing at best, certainly no James Bond sh*t. It's main use is that you don't have to type your password in every time. -
Heres the message: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) -
This thing is getting better isn't it and everyone is so excited about it. I wish Alienware had sent an update mail about it and HOW TO instructions like they send all those junk mailers.
I see few ideas being copied, can I sue them for taking my TurnOffLights idea without my permissions.
Guys I think this is better for novice and average users. For advanced users like me and many others this is bit slow and so much user interaction is required. Yeah it is fancy, they have good designers there no doubt its AW.
One thing for sure they are giving me good challenge but first thing they should think of is 64bit support rather than cosmetic changes. I will work on this later this week and come up with some good news, hopefully -
Good ol' Vikas always doing his best to please the community
