Call or chat in, because the coupons should be valid for everything.

EDIT: And still haggle first to maximize the discount. Just don't waste too much time if you don't want to.

Well I used my 30% off coupon that Hybrys was so kind enough to give me. Ordered an AW18 with a 4930MX, dual 780Ms, 16GB of RAM, 750GB HDD with 64GB mSATA SSD, and Blu-ray drive for $2,915 before tax. Saved me $1,275. I sent you Hybrys a little something something over paypal for the coupon. Thanks again man.

I'm not having much luck haggling and then applying the code. All of the reps seem to totally go back on everything once I introduce the code to them. Has anyone had any luck by haggling first and then throwing this coupon code at them with success? I only have until 10 PM EST to haggle I believe!

Yes, I got $350 off my 18 and then applied a 30% off coupon without much trouble. The terms clearly state that you're able to apply it in conjunction with any other discounts.

Yeah, it's easy to do. Ask them for time to think it over, and an emailed quote after haggling, then continue the purchase online from the link in their code. For kicks, I got -$200 then applied the code with no issues.

I was only able to haggle $100 off then applied the coupon and she told me that they wouldn't combine and I had to choose between the $100 or the $1,275 30% off coupon. I of course chose the 30% coupon, but I am also going to get a $300 gift card. I know I could have haggled more and tried getting them to combine (didn't think about getting a quote and finishing it online though), but I'm out on a job right now and don't have much free time, and I thought $1,275 off was plenty enough for me. Still glad about my purchase and can't for my new laptop to come in. ETA is the 20th.

Dell NZ is becoming really stingy with their discounts...

EPP only takes 5% off and after haggling still 5%. Apparently policies have changed... :(

Mystery codes don't work here either!

    Hello!

I just registered to this forum after I saw your message. I've been reading about alienware laptop user experiences and I was thinking about buying one.

I used your second coupon which got me a %20 off! I did not finalize it yet but I will if you're fine with it. Coupons expire soon.

I'm starting university this year and your coupon was quite nice for me! Thank you very much!

I think this really just depends on the Rep. If the code will apply, they may just go through with it. When I had a 20% off coupon and Dell was having a sale just before the new releases came out, I got it to around 28% or so from MSRP, but the rep I talked to wouldn't budge at all. I probably should have talked to someone first actually before the coupon code, but it's pretty hit or miss and they're closed now I think.

Sadly, I broke down and finally placed an order!! (after shopping for 2+ years? .... initially looking at Sager's/Clevos back in 2011 and deciding on the M18x in 2011?).

Used a 30% off coupon from a friend. Since MPP has the default 2% and I was in Dell Advantage (5% egift card), I figured I should move since I don't know what will happen to prices after Dell does or doesn't go private. Also had some left over gift card funds from a previous g/c deal to soften the blow a little. If wife gets too pissed, may have to cancel...<laugh>

My current machine is pushing near 6 years old as well so wasn't sure how long this thing will continue to tick and didn't want to be forced to buy something at that time if this eventually dies.

I spent a very long time yesterday trying to haggle and get quotes with reps (upsetting some in the process :wideeyed:), but nothing worked out. The quotes that I did manage to get didn't have the option to apply my coupon code so they were pretty much useless, unless I was missing something?

I ended up buying the mid-spec Alienware 18 with the 780m's and the 4800qm processor for about $3k after tax. Not too bad but I really would have preferred shaving it down to around $2,700. Oh well, I got a deal.

By the way, this price includes 4 years of both the Enhanced Support and Accidental Damage. I have to worry though, will Dell potentially going private/staying public lead to warranties not being fulfilled in the way they are now? For right now it is valuable peace of mind, but I would hate for the money that I put into the warranty to go to waste. For all I can determine, Dell may toss Alienware out of their business model and in that circumstance I am unsure of what any outcome would be.

I think I probably bought the same spec as you actually. 4 years with 4800m. I was really going back and forth as to what warranty to go with, since the cheapest warranty would save you like 500+, but having followed these forums for years, it seems like if you are willing to put up a good fair fight for any major issues, you'll get taken care of so it's worth it in the long run if you even have 1 major issue within the warranty period. Being a newly designed model, it probably makes more sense as well, not to mention the 30% off helps a bit...Same applies if you wanted to add a SSD or monitor, etc...

I didn't spend anytime doing the haggle this time. Was too late when I bought and no time for it. I hate ordering by phone as well since they almost always seem to mess something up.

An option you have is complain to cancel and maybe they will knock off a few more bucks. I doubt I'd go this route unless I run into major problems since I don't think it's the right thing to do...30%+ off is pretty decent and you probably won't "lose" money if you had to sell the machine you just bought.

There is no doubt that it was a great deal and when it arrives, if I end up deciding not to keep it I may just resell it rather than sending it back to Dell. What peeves me slightly is the severe lack of freedom when customizing this generation of notebooks. I really did not need 16gb of RAM and I honestly would have opted for the 4700qm instead of the 4800qm, if the site allowed me to still choose 780m's. I could have saved a few hundred dollars but Dell is really restricting customer freedom this time around unfortunately.

I am just very anxious to get a hold of the 18 and see if it lives up to the legacy of the M18x that I once had. It was a stunning system and I'm hoping this one can equally impress me, even without the complete aluminum shell that the M18x had.

    I hate my life.
There I was yesterday, after I got the 30% code from kind "Hybrys", talking to some dude from Alienware on the phone. Specifications was ready, my cart was saved, all I had to do was give them a US adress (since I`m from Norway), pay and that was that.

Couldn`t get access to my Shipito account and therefor didn`t have any adress to give them. Turns out I forgot one of my email adress (which I rarely use) I registered to Shipito.

No deal for you! Got my Shipito working today, coupon expired really early (7AM) this morning.

No computer for you! Man, was ready to buy the 780M SLI, 4930XM Alienware 18. :(

A US based EPP rep that I talked to yesterday said that if I didn't act on this round of discounts, I would have to wait at least three months before new discounts hit. I'm not sure what kind of discounts he was referring to, but he referenced these mystery coupon codes being given out due to the end of the quarter where they want to make back as much money as they can.

I have tried several times today, both on telephone and via chat. "Sorry, we cant apply the coupon now since the system is stopping us"
There are probably some strict rules that even the ones working there cant go past. But I bet if I met the right one, one of the higher ups, they might have the authority to do so.

Thanks for the coupon btw. Although I messed up it means a lot to me.

Thanks, good to know. To wait 3 months for the same deal again, thats just too much waiting for me I think.

Sucks man. Pretty short time limit they put on these deals.

I don't think the reps really know what Dell plans, but I would assume this deal would be around again during the holiday season.

One thing I wasn't sure about was that from the last coupon, I don't think you were able to "get another" coupon right away. Maybe you were, but I don't remember it allowing that last time so you just need to be already on the mailing list...

TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if they limited it to one coupon per IP address next time. Though I guess they got a good number of sales based on the new delivery dates. I ordered mine ~1am yesterday with an EDD of the 18th. I'm seeing some today with an EDD of the 22nd and 23rd.

Awww - that's a real shame - I'd have hated to lose 30% off a new machine, especially being sooo close.....still, you could always opt to sell something else you own and put more money to the machine, right? - I mean - to get the spec you want....bit like me with my refund I guess...

Yes I was this close: [ ] in getting the Alienware 18.

    :(

I`m always super unlucky with these things. Probably the only time we will see 30% on these models too.
