I really think this will come back during the holidays. They had these 10-20-30 just this past April or so if I remember correctly and definitely some time in the future. My only question mark is will they allow people to get new coupons right away? I'll keep you in mind during the next promo!

To be fair, since the Alienware 18 is a dual gfx SLI system, you really should be comparing the Alienware 17 with those other systems...Also, the 30% off coupon was given out to 1 out of 100 people. The odds weren't super to get one, but it was there. Since you're also forced to get a dual gfx card system, the price comparison isn't fair so it's 1k more, but the systems are sorta night and day different in terms of expandability and what's available in the marketplace. There are a lot of 17" systems out there with high end gfx cards, but only 2 I believe which can do dual 780m SLI.

Bottom line is if you're happy with the others or your son is, nothing wrong with those other systems. Getting a deal takes time and patience and might not be worth it if it's for your son neither.

The best you can get in the UK is 10% off before your order... also if your order arrives and is in a bad shape (scratched or whatever), you can claim an additional 5-10% back ;)

I hate the fact that these coupons don't work with the AW17. I don't see why it shouldn't... Whoever is making up these rules and restrictions is hurting Alienware more than they're helping. Even if people get 5%, 10%, or even 20% off, you're still building revenue.

    No, mine doesn't work either.

A rep told me the coupon is valid and should work, but there's something wrong with the system. They changed the way you acquire the coupon this morning during all of that downtime Dell was experiencing. He also said that he can get a manager to verify it and apply the discount manually, if need be.

    I'm awaiting his call tomorrow.

So, today, Dell told me that everyone who gets the 20% off coupon gets the exact same code and whoever uses it first, gets the 20% off. First come first serve basis... Supposedly someone already used the one I got, so, it's no longer valid.

First, I was told my coupon was expired, which is impossible. And then I was told the above...

The rules are: the coupons are the worms and its up to you to be the early bird, because if you humming and howing about what to get.... its too late. Now your prepared for next time, so keep an eye on the coupon launch and jump all over it.

Not sure for this specific case, but I see a LOT of dell coupons have that verbage where the promo lasts till so and so or until the code is redeemed enough...I've also had personal codes mailed to me in those paper ads in the mail and the code would expire when I try it...(typically not right away however).

Sorta like newegg, I don't think the reps are lying and they probably have a limit on the number that can be redeemed.

I know this is an older thread but I wanted to give it a shot. I already have a quote for about 400 off my alienware 18. If i try and get a better quote will it cancel out my first one? If he gave you 600 on a 17 he could probably do the same on my 18?

I believe it said ends 6-2-2014 OR until redeemed. That might mean you can stretch it past the 2nd and still get the deal but once the code has been used it is null and void.

Just used the coupon to purchase an AW18 i7-4810 256mSATA boot, w 3 year warranty. The Dell advantage was only good for 4% but it saved me 19%. Total was about $2150 before taxes after 19% discounts. Killer deal for a backup system. I like the large clear screen on my AW18 I currently have with a i7-4930 CPU.The coupon had to be redeemed by 6-2-2014 7pm EST, you can't stretch it past the deadline to get the good deal. The mystery coupons are worth anywhere from 5-15% so I lucked out to get one with the 15% off. They only offer this deal about once a year, so you have to strike fast if you need a PC or laptop.

They offer it at least two times per year. Last year after Black Friday, they had a Mystery Coupon sale up to 30% off.

That just shows how much these systems are marked up. :p

The thing that really bugs me about these 'mystery codes' is that they only work if you are in the US - at least the last time I tried to use one, that was the case. Do Dell really think that their only market is at home??? - surely it would not take too much effort to make these codes globally acceptable across all Dell regions.......

    Min-rant over! :p

Another thing that bothers me about them is that they release them right before a refresh. Do you wait on the 860m in the 14 ( because you really need portability and not a DTR) or do you use the 20% now on a new 17/18 powerhouse which still underperforms compared to the previous gens. Ugh

That is so crappy, bro. I would be angry, too. Not only do you not get these coupons, but your system prices are much higher? Not fair at all. But, business is business.

Another crappy thing about the codes is that there's only X amount of each percentage. They are not "newly generated" every time you try it with your email. They're pulled from a group of codes that already exist each time you enter a new email, and are good until redeemed. So, more than one person can get each code, and whomever claims it first, wins.

If you get a 15% off promotional coupon code do not wait around! Someone else may have gotten the same code.

True, Bro - not gonna whine about UK prices though. Still, you'd think that because of those high prices (not just the UK, but other Countries as well) it would have been better for Dell to roll out those discounts across the board. I really don't see why they cannot. What you mention about the codes also sucks.....

As for the timing of these 'mystery giveaways', they always appear to coincide with a refresh - basically Dell's way of having a 'clear out' if you like.....I can see the sense in that and I appreciate that it would NOT be good business sense to time these codes with a new arrival. 30% off a newly launched product? - maybe hell would freeze over first LOL.

Are these mystery codes available/usable in Canada? I thought they were last time around but I can't find anywhere to get one or redeem one. I get the Dell emails so I should have received one?
