    Games that Support AlienFX

    During installation it gives me an error saying Data1.cab not accessible when its right there in the disk. I can extract the cab but the installation cant find it. Searched in the net and tried copying to local disk and install, but no luck!

    Called up the place where i got the game from and they say its not compatible with win7. :(

    Run the installer with administrator rights (right click > run as administrator)! Try compatibility mode for XP too.
    Temporarily turn off your antivirus .

    If all else fails, try getting another copy as it is compatible with Windows 7, I know I played it on my M17x and they had Vista and Windows 7.

    BlackLight:Retribution's use of alienfx is pretty awesome. It changes when using nightvision(?), when stunned, keyboard turns blue with pulse effects. Very cool. Didn't know that there are some games that utilise alienfx before this game. I hope more developers will utilise this :p

    League of Legends supports it too. Flashes red when you take damage and goes white when you die.

    Perhaps theres more that I havent noticed as well. As I use an external keyboard and screen on my m11x when I play games I don't notice it much :p

    APB reloaded works with alienfx

    flashes red/blue when the police are coming, turns red or something when you get shot.

    both released.

    But Eve online does Still support AFX in game with things like cap lvl shield, armor, and hull cargo bay full when mining little things like that ;)

    Serious Sam 3: BFE supports AlienFX. The colors change with health status, when you're hit, and in menus.

    The updated Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2 supports AlienFX. It changed to Orange at the main menu.

    I haven't delved any deeper than that since I didnt keep my last save file. When I started a new game it reverted back to the usual color scheme. Will try more when I finished ME3 =)

    seemed to randomly change colors when I played in the arena for a bit. not sure if its random or actually means something :p

    It's not random, it turns red when the witcher dies and colors change with the witchers medallion features :)

    It flashes red whenever you're low HP or if you've just rez'd.

    I really like it because as soon as I see red, I hit Z and immediately prone.

    It should work like traffic lights.

    Green = Full HP
    Yellow = Medium
    Red = Near Death

    But nonetheless, it's good enough for me.

    Yup, more detail on the patch can be found here: BF3 PC Client R7 is due on Fri Apr 27th

    Though, it would be nice if either DICE or Dell/AW have a data sheet on what colour it will display or if possible enable us to manually config those colour, but overall the AlienFX supported is great addition. And I love it :D

    What's funny is this is my second Alienware laptop and all this time I had no idea that games were coming out with Alien FX profiles until this morning.

    What a shocker. It makes me love Alienware even more.

    My loyalty points with AW just skyrocketed.

    I know how you feel there, when my buds first saw the keyboard flash red (which kinda makes dying not feel so bad :p), they were like, "???!?!?!", Jaws slacking and everything. I <3 my laptop

    it has broken my alienfx. everytime i play bf3 it turns off all zones then doesnt turn back on untill i do a power drain. anyone have any ideas?

    In BF3 it works - in SP basically every time I get hit, the white turns a little more red.

    However, LoL refuses to work.

    No problems here with Battlefield 3. I've seen a couple of people on NBR say it doesn't work, but I've seen 3 separate Alienware computers IRL that work just fine. Sorry guys :(

    Is there a setting inside LoL? Try this:
    "If you're already on an Alienware FX machine, and want to get start the epic light show, you should see a new option in the in-game options menu called: "AlienFX". Checking this box will prompt your lights to react dynamically to in game events, providing you with additional feedback on gameplay situations" Source: League of Legends website.

    I use it in League of Legends ( really usefull , especially when it blinds Orange when you last hit creeps ) , in Battlefield 3 ( useless , but still cool ) , and in Nexuiz : i wanted to test it since it's out, and now it's only 2€ on Steam, and free try all this week end.

    I REALLY recommend this game, it's awesome. 2€, alienFX support, Unreal-like with Cry Engine 3 : Epic win !

    Some game have an option to tick, but at the moment, i never had to do anything ( except in League of Legends ) , when the game first start, alienFX works. Same on BF, after the patch, it worked automatically
