Yes, If he agrees I will set up everything and obtain contact info for him to contact you for payment when they are released
-
I will make sure he knows everyone has a custom config (its to his advantage anyways... some want fully customized) Im hoping he will do what babyhemi mentioned which was obtaining a 25% off code and that way everyone can customize/pay for their own rig!
-
If you get 25% discount, I purchase one or two M17X but I am not sure that's even possible.

I'm in too!
-
OMG, can we order more than one per household?
That would be amazing. -
You can definitely count me in as well.. I also am waiting on the 5870m x2 crossfire release and have been for some time now. Keep us posted.
-
Don't count me in your list, unless you have a group of "maybe-ers". I'd be interested, for sure, I just don't wanna commit. I just dropped a good chunk of money on an Aurora last month.
Now, if this 25% worked on any Alienware notebook, I'd almost certainly pick up an M11x. ;p -

Ok so when will we know if we can get such a discount?
-
-
Hopefully you are right, the thing is I am not sure that a rep has that much leverage on each laptop but if he gets anything more than 15%, I'll be in.
-
I'm in for sure
-
-
Yeah but the truth is no one is getting 18% on their own unless they work for Boeing.
-
That's not true exactly. . . . You can get 10% off for being a student, 16% off for being a boeing employee. Roughly anyways. You can get an additional 3% off for using a dpa account. Further discounts are harder to get. It all depends who you order through though, I ordered my laptop through a technician, he offered me 12% off + 3% for using a dpa account. Then still gave me further discounts on other things, half off orion backpack, half off tactx mouse, free nbd shipping, like 40-50% off the 256 GB SSD (I still didn't order it). They usually won't allow you to stack anything other than those two, and some won't allow you to stack those 2 discounts. The thing about it is this, why should they give 20 people 25% off, when they can give those 20 people 10-18% off and still get the sales?
It'll be hard for 25% off, I'm sure you could get 20% though. I wouldn't expect 30% off. . . . You do gotta realize their costs for the hardware and labor. 25% might be doable, but the rep will almost certainly need approval. -
Yeah, I imagine the margin the cost of components and labor on such machines are around 50% to 60% of advertised price. I doubt 30% is doable.
-
I will wait to see what the OP can get though. -
-
yo.... count me in as well. 25% is huge. 4k = 3k deal.. that is a huge amount saved!
-
wow+1 I am going to get on when 5870 is out count on me ppls
-
-
-
Oh I know. I'm sure you will get a great deal, I expect about 20%. But some people were suggesting 25-30%. I just don't see that being realistic, that's all I was trying to point out. And explain. Anyways, good luck. And try and figure out when you can order the crossfire 5870's
-
I'm about to buy the M15x... I know this is about the M17x but I was just going to say that if it helps, I'll buy mine through this rep as well. Just trying to help you get as many people to order as possible.
-
a) If they exist, there doesn't seem to be a way to get through to a Dell Representative IN Australia at all and;
b) The Reps that you speak to for Asia Pactific region orders do not have the delegation to discount systems - they simply don't seem to be allowed (beyond maybe ~$100 and even then it's like getting blood from a stone).
If you get anything more than 20% then I might be interested - let me know how you go.
mFractal has a great thread about ordering from Dell US and shipping internationally - in some cases it works out much cheaper. For Aussies, even with the good exchange rate for $AUD-$USD, it's only viable with at least a 20% discount due to tax charged on import though. -
Just wanted to add in. From what I just heard on the phone a few minutes ago, the 5870's in crossfire are currently being tested in Europe. The testing time is expected to be 3 months, give or take depending on how the testing goes. So you could be waiting for a while.
-
-
it would not be anything surprising for consumers to announce 5870CF at E3. Time is limited so I'm sure AW/Dell will announce something else like the new rumored all powerfull laptop.
-
I'd be really surprised if testing for this is 3 months. Dell would have been seeded the cards before release for testing, and since the have a crossfire laptop they'd be testing in that as well as their other units from the get go. If they need 3 more months, something either tested horribly wrong, or somebody didn't do a good job planning their testing from the beginning. Either choice to me is laughable. 3 months is an intolerable time for tech. To have the units shipping after June is horrible for taxes too. That means you can't write off the whole machine in a single year. If any of this is true about the delay many of us are going to start looking elsewhere. I really don't think it'll play out that way though. I bet these cards will be out any day now.
-
^^^ What rumor is that? All new chassis? New size?
-
count me in too.
-
Any news on the discount?
-
Just checking if there is anything wrong with this thread. No posts for 4:45hrs.

Count me in if the discount is that large and includes either the 5870 CF's or 480GTXm SLI's.

News from Logan:
OK, Logan said that its a little hard to figure out what amount of discount he will be able to do without the configuration available yet. He did say that he is working on it and will try to get all of us the best price he possibly can from Dell. He also said he couldnt believe the amount of responses he got from members of the forum and really appriciates it and will work hard to get the best discount for us forum members!
I responded back and asked him if he could at least give us a ballpark figure as soon as possible. On a side note, He knows that we are looking for a discount from 18-25%... since I had told him other members were able to get a discount at that rate.
oh yes and he said he did not have an ETA for the release of the CF 5870's... said there was no telling when they would be released by Dell -
I think im going to compile a list of contact information for Logan, that way when the m17x is available in CF 5870 configuration he can call us directly to let us know it is available and relay what price/quote he can give us on it. If everyone who is interested could please PM me your full name and a contact phone # so I can send it to him. Or would everyone rather just contact him when they are released. Remember if you do contact him seperately to mention that you are part of the notebook review forum group interested in the m17x.
Also, sorry its taking a long time for me to respond... i am in anesthesia school and this and part of next week is finals! -
This is pretty cool. I'm very excited about the 5870's in CF. I'm actually putting off my M17x purchase until they come out, even if I do have the money before that. But I might not have the money yet when this deal goes down.
-
Joelhr: I just PM'ed you the requested info. You can pass that on to Logan when you think the time is right.
-
-
Ive made the contact list... 12 people are in so far. Hopeing some more people are interested so we can get 20. The more the better
. I think some of the new members that said they were interested have not sent their contact info. Please private message me your name and # so I can include you in the list!
Ive heard somewhere in the forum that a rumor release date is today 5/13 or 5/20. Will be interesting to see when they come out... I would imagine it would be soon! -
I'll PM you when I can. I think I'm still too low on the post count.
-
push for 25% or MOAR!!!
-
-
hell I am in for that!! court me in!!
I will send you my contact info =)
25%++ ROARRR -
I am on the fence. But if a 25% discount were available, I don't know that I could pass it up.
-
If we can get a good deal I'd be interested too. But I'd prefer to call him rather than have him call me.
-
I've talked my wife into a m11x on top of my loaded m17x so that's one more.
-
How many posts do you need before you can PM.
Good US Rep on Facebook!
