Ooooh What is it? Did they give you something for free like an out of stock part or something? I think the reason Ive been in Phase 6 for 5 days is because they dont have the 200 gb HDD and they are just stalling

okay my first post today ...
just ordered the m15x and I'm in Phase 4 now since 4/4 and asked if there were things out of stock and she told me that the screen and the harddisk is out of stock but that the system will be shipped the 28th like estimated... but I refuse to believe that...

 

That's what I've been told at first. When did she say the HDD will be delivered ?

 

She didn't mention a date. Just told me that these parts have a "longer delivery time" but that it shouldn't delay the production process.

i was garanteed that the HD would be delivered today. unless it was only mine that they had sent by special delivery.

 

No I didn't call them - just mail-contact .. and I think she is from Germany because I send it to the German CS... and untill now it was the same woman who answered my mails! But I think its just a standard answer to put oil on troubled waters and the 28th they will come with excuses, I'm sure!

 

i will be finding out for sure on monday morning at 8pm

ill soon wake up CS with this phone call.

or its cancelation time.

 

It is really surprising to see many of the parts out of stock - maybe Alienware did not anticipate the demand, there is actually a shortage of the parts on the market, or a combination of both.

As of the latest update, which part(s) are you waiting on now?

I am still waiting on the 200GB HDD and the 15" monitor.

I haven't received a reply from my e-mail yet but I suppose it's the weekend.

i received this email on thursday from the sales department
awaiting back order of:
1- AREA-51 M15X 15" WXGA+ W/CAM SIL-RIP-PNT .....

Expected Date: 4/14/2008
2- SEAGATE 200GB 7200RPM FREE FALL SENSOR HDD

....Expected Date: 4/11/2008
3- INTEL ROBSON 1GB PCI-E MINI-CARD .................

Expected Date: 4/15/2008

i then replied to this email and a couple of hours later received this email
from Alienware Electronic Support :

At this time, I would like to offer you not only our apologies, but also our assistance.
Please accept our apologies for the unpleasant experience you had to go through while waiting for your system.
According to our records, we are waiting for the Seagate 200GB 7200RPM Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive. The estimated date of arrival at our facilities is tomorrow (friday 11th). Also, your order has been added to the Priority List. This means that once your system is ready, it will be shipped before the rest of the orders.
I can assure you that we are putting forth our best effort to see that your order is delivered as promptly as possible.

hard drive delivery friday 11th or monday 14th (will find out tomorrow).

that was a momentary lapse of concentration on my part.

you shouldnt cancel since you waited so long already. it was really worth the wait for me at least. during my 38 days of waiting i had a time that i wanted to cancel but once you get the machine and as long as its working properly you will actually think it was worth waiting this long for it.

 

its the frustration that gets you down waiting this long.
the reputation in the past of AW was second to none and for the price you expect slightly better service than we are all getting at the moment.

man that is bad news, I thought all you guys would get your notebooks this week.

About half way through April now and still Feb orders not being fulfilled.
definitely mis-management,

they obviously waited to order remaining parts until the chassis came in and then ran into parts shortages from suppliers......bad planning, bad customer service.

keep yer chin up guys I am sure you will get your machines soon........you had better otherwise I can see an invasion of Ireland

 

Man, that sucks for UK buyers. I just went on Alienware.uk and I couldn't believe how many items I saw that had the infamous "this my delay your order" or "in a hurry? Select another option for faster delivery" signs. wow.

And sure enough on the site it does say that both LCD screens and all versions of Vista, and 160 & 200GB hard drives "may delay your order." (In other words...out of stock.)

So, I don't think that the tech support crew are lying to you guys. They are telling the truth.

There's none of this on the US site. And I'm glad.

DOH! silly me. and there was me wondering why every time i looked on the site the infamous words above would change from item to item.

it never crossed my mind that this actually meant out of stock.

 

Im kind of in the same boat as Mr DJ. I ordered mid Feb and my lappy has been floating around in Phase 6 all of last week. I dont know whether they found an issue or they actually dont have the parts. Technically they should have the parts unless one of mine is faulty and they are waiting for replacements. Im quite disappointed because people who ordered after me with the same config have received theirs but I havent . Im going to call tomorrow and ask for the supervisor. If they dont have a good enough answer I will cancel. I know Ive waited so long but its just boredering on stupidity if they cant prioritize orders correctly

firstly can you do us a favour and put your 15x spec and date ordered in your signature so everyone can see how long you have been waiting.

so have you had any offers on freebies yet? if not when you ring tomorrow ask what are they going to offer you in a form of a good will gesture for your seriously long delay. (expect a tee shirt first).

as people have said to me above, dont cancel just yet. weve waited this long so another week or 6 wont make that much difference.
if you are so downheartened like me about AW and once you get the 15x send it back within the first 14 days for a full refund.

and if not, how come they aint got a load from MS its not like MS are out of stock of vista now is it?

when things like that happen companies often go under, but since AW are global and dont seem to have these problems elsewhere, is it just their Irish operation thats well....Irish?

 

Well, something is definitely weird. I had the same thoughts when I saw that all three versions of Vista OS were out of stock!!!!

Hey MrDJ, if I were you I would probably just go ahead and cancel my order. You will never know when they will get the parts. And you are wasting time & money & patience just waiting and waiting.

 

ill find out tomorrow for sure as once ive spoken to CS i will send an email to whoever i spoke to by email last time that is in a totaly different section and see if the two responses are the same.

 

the fact that they keep on giving different responses would worry me
thats why I cancelled plus the fact that they were going to make me wait over 2 months for a flaming laptop.

sorry but thats just not the way to do business
especially since they are shipping more or less fine in the states.

and none of this we have different suppliers routine, the chassis comes from Quanta, maybe they buy their processors through a different reseller, which begs the question with a parent company like DELL why the heck are they not buying all their components direct, (which would give them the same supplylines)

The whole situation stinks to high heaven, and despite the notebook looking nice, the company has nothing else going for it.

anyone selling any other product like that would be shut down , by industry watchdogs for dodgy trading.

I still wish you guys good luck, but you are relying on luck, maybe £1500 of lottery tickets would fare better?

you should still ring them up mrdj, you know what they are like for putting out fake info on builds etc

 

I've heard a lot on these forums that when you go back down one phase then you get bumped up two phases.. Think it went like this -
Phase 3 - Some number of days
Phase 4 - Looong time
Phase 3 - One or two days
Phase 6 - Bingo !!
Twas the case with a couple of NBR users a while back.. Keep it strong fella.. Might just happen to you too

Phase 6 MrDJ.. Just a lil bit longer.. Then you won't be on the forums anymore

 

When I was on phase 4 for a damn long time, I suddenly hit phase 3 one day and went to phase 5 after couple of hours, so cheers

 

oh i think i will be on here quite a bit after getting it. i owe a lot to this forum and its members for their help and support in keeping me sane (almost) during this long stressfull time.

now im really confused
just spoken to CS and a french chap said it will be shipped today
when i explained that i had only just moved to phase 6 today he said it should be shipped on wednesday but to give him a minute and he will look at the notes. came back and said it was shipping today.
Hmmm! 200 point check. me dont think so.
if the conflicting emails about the 200gb HD are correct then they didnt get them in until friday OR this morning so how can it be shipping today.
i understand they have upgraded my priority and shipping but i just hope they havnt rushed it through without its full checks.

advice please from all that have already received theirs... when and who from did you receive the email about the shipping details. was it from AW or DHL

It is also possible that the website isn't updated so some the parts that they say are out aren't really gone.
