Wow I don't know why they keep calling u to cancel, that only happen once to me to a guy I had already talked to and only when I call to ask about my edd they ask and I say no, but that is just weird that they consistently keep asking you specifically

@dookie11
I also ordered mine with the 2720qm, 460m, 60hz1080p screen and mine still says in production with my EDD at 3/30 (it's been changed like 3 times) and I've gotten a message saying that I should cancel mine and reorder with a different CPU because of the "sandy bridge issue" which is a load of bs since the CPUs weren't affected. -

m17x r3 available now for configuration. Try it out guys. $250 for the 6970m upgrade. -
Does anyone see where you can add an extra battery? It says you can but it only has an extra AC adapter ><
-
Nice catch Typecast +1. Glad to see the price of a system comes out exactly what I had orderred. Only, if I orderred now, the estimated ship date would be 2 1/2 weeks earlier than my current one.
-
Thanks for all the updates everyone. After checking my order status online (no change, still EDD of 3/30) I decided to call the 1-800 number and my order now says shipping preparation (yesturday it still said "in production" with no further info). So we shall see
-
IT's BACK!!!!
CLICKY!!!
I told you guys it would be on the 3rd of march -
-
It's back! And with the 6970! But it's not yet available on aafes
-
-
Has anyones computer actually shipped???
I just talked to customer care... and they still claim that the old orders will not ship until april. -
-
mine just got updated with "in production, in the Boxing phase" with an EDD of 9March with 2 day shipping so ill know monday if it ships
-
-
just spoke to a csr rep who told me that my order is ready to ship they are just waiting for a tracking number to be generated so that they can send it out. i hope this is true and i can finally stop calling them i think ive started hearing "2 tones followed by a brief pause" in my sleep
-

-
Hmmm...maybe that's why they want everyone to cancel.
-
Mine just passed in production today, i'm in france
2820QM and 6970M -
I'm still waiting to find out if I can modify my order under AAFES to the 6970M without blowing the discount.
If not I'll just live with the 460M until I need something more and then upgrade it myself. -
-
Yay with the 1800alienware thing it says my order is being prepared to ship.
-
In other news, my aafes rep responded that he put forward the request to dell to modify my order to the 6970M, so we'll see what happens. My EDD hasn't changed, and progress is still "In Production." -
I might return the system that I'll be getting after one week or so to get the 6970(Will wait if the 485 aftermarket upgrade will work).
@Topic
I was able to expedite mine this afternoon and also upgrade the shipping to NBD. I just hope I'll see some changes on my order status soon. -

Anywhoo, my usual daily updates are as follows:
So I spoke to a csr supervisor today (same cat that I spoke to yesterday). He cancelled my order almost instantly lolz. Then he instructed me to call aafes and to reorder. So at lunchtime, I called aafes, and spoke to the dell rep. He acknowledged the cancellation, and said that he will relay the message to his "point of contact" at dell, who will call me tomorrow so I can reorder and get the config I want (cuz the R3 wasnt available on aafes this afternoon 1pm PST). In a nutshell, I basically have "store credit" with aafes, and the 30% discount remains. I will also have the 30% discount for the upgrade to the 6970, and the upgrade for my warranty. Unfortunately, they cannot offer me the discount for accessories (a pair of Logitech steering wheels LOLZ).
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the way they handled this within the last couple of days. The aafes guy remembered me, and we both laughed it off. Hope things will go well tomorrow when someone at dell is "supposed to call me." Otherwise, I will just call aafes and get it sorted out, since most of you say that the R3 is back on aafes's systems.
For those of you who missed out on the 30% deal on aafes, stuff's still 10% off, and of course no tax and free shipping. If you do decide to order, you might wanna try calling dell when your system is "In production" and ask them to change it to NBD for ya.
If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to pm me or reply to this post.
Thx guys for always being there for me
^^ You can tell how much happier I am today, compared to the entire month of February lol. I admit that I really am happy about this, and hope things turn out well for ya'll. -
see that, good things do ndeed come to those who wait!
be sure to update that sig when you've finally gotten it ordered to your desired specs dood!
congrats, and njoy! -
-
Is the 6970 really worth the extra $$$ for gaming? If it is might consider doing the same with aafes
-
Anyway, glad it's all almost over and we can all get back to what we like doing best! -
-
So dookie, What specs are you now getting?
-
Please advise. TYIA! -
-
(please confirm this statement before I go take a dump lolz)> -

Yeah, it should work just like my wife's HP, where you can tell it to either 1) automatically switch when I'm on battery (screen flashes dark for a second when it switches) or 2) tell it not to switch unless you tell it to.
The biggest difference is since Optimus always runs the video through the IGP, you don't get that screen flash when it switches between the IGP and the Discrete GPU. With AMD/ATI switchable graphics, it flashes for a second because it is actually switching sources. It works just fine. -
Okay. So switchable for sure, right? I'm too anxious, and really need to go poop, so I'm hoping someone says YES to this

I generally hang onto laptops for several years (My XPS M1530 has lasted me three I believe), so I'm willing to spend the extra dough for a bit more performance that will carry me a bit further. If, however, I was somone who was buying a new laptop every year, I'd save that $175 and chuck it in the bank for the next one.
Intel Press Release - Sandy Bridge Issue - What does this mean for the M17xR3?
