...so, you're saying the reps know what's up? I thought we'd established you'd be better off hitting your head against a table while you wait.![]()
-
not only better off but less painfull too lol
-
Just a thought but maybe the m17x r3 isn't for sale yet because a lot were on hold for the new hardware and Dell wants to fill those orders then re release it? I still don't see why they wouldn't atleast put up a configuration though.
-
I hope they release it before they fill the orders. I want to change my processor and gpu >_<
-
To You...
And You...: Don't waste your time with contacting them. My cell phone bill came and I'm way over my usual minutes usage. I've found that all my calls got me basically nowhere. @MajorMonacle (what does your sn mean lolz), mine has been "In Production" since 1/29, so I wouldn't get too excited.
Ditto.
Doubt they're gonna fill our orders first, even after all this shenanigans. You can tell they're not, because if you go configure an XPS 17 which has SB cpus, the EDD is 3/18. When I called about this, the "supervisor" guy told me it's because they have different chipsets, which isn't true, cuz someone on this thread said that the only ones in existence are HM67/P67 for SB cpus.
Also, another day of not calling (mostly cuz I went over my minutes haha). And still, my EDD is still "4/13(updated)". <---- what does the "(updated)" mean? -
Dookie, mine's always said (updated) ever since it changed from the original date to the current one. I'm sure yours has too, you just haven't noticed it.
-
Well put it this way, the money for my laptop was charged on the 1st of march, which was yesterday, which was also when it was put into production...I had ordered it on the 1/28.
-
I have noticed it. It's always said "4/13(updated)". Never knew what that "updated" meant though.
"In Production in the Build Stage" by any chance? Mine was stuck on that since early February. Sorry to burst yer bubble
But unless dell get's outta this intel fiasco, and stops bsing with us (aka sells the XPS 17 instead of building our R3's), then you might not see it till later this month, maybe early April. Btw, what's your EDD?
-
Yes, in the build stage, and mine had been stuck on being prepared since the 28th of january...So I don't really think it is going to be stuck on in production for another month, but this is my opinion, they hadn't charged me up until the point when it changed to in production and it is around the time they said they would start fulfilling orders. [Edit] My EDD that they told me a while ago is the 4th of April, my original was the 18th of february, I never got one for march, which is what a lot of people seemed to have gotten as well.

Added the following to post#1 of this thread...
EDIT: Update from Lionel M. posted today, March 1 - thanks to vikingrinn for the heads-up.

------------------------------------------------------------------
So, reading over Lionel's latest info update, I believe the following is what everyone needs to take away from it -
For those that ordered already and are in order limbo, I imagine you still have the 2 choices Dell provided at the start of this -
Knowing the above should help a bit for you folks who are constantly calling and expecting some change in the automated order status system. You can either wait or cancel - the choice is yours. -
Lol so I chatted with them and he gave me some links but he also said he didn't know which one were recalled, I think I couldve told him which ones but I decided to save my words.. The links sent me to that 2dell site and intel website.
-
Meh. Over a month later, and still no real update. Dell's really lucky that we're all geeks and nerds here, otherwise we would've all cancelled completely and bought from someone else. It's because they know we want their computer so bad, that they're offering us something similar. To the average consumer, the m17x R2 would've made no diff. And obviously, it does to us, so they're taking their damn time... Pretty sad, actually.
Whelp, off to work! Talk to you guys tonite
-
Alienware is only for those who love alienware
Dell is lucky to have us. -
For all those who said, sorry to burst your bubble, or it may take a while...My order has been shipped and is ready for UPS...
-
Last location was in Germany, I live in the UK, should only be a few days
-
Congratulations!!! Mine is still mid-April, however I am content to wait - and experience has shown me that Dell usually beats their EDDs by a pretty good margin. I'll be looking forward to your perspective of the machine now that issues have been corrected.
-
Definitely will post about it, can't wait!
-
Grats to you bro, enjoy your system
I just have one question, did you order in the US website? TIA
@Topic
Probably they're trying to fill out the orders in limbo thats why they aren't open for taking orders for the R3. -
Thanks as well, and no, I ordered off the UK site. -
Wow this is big. If Dell is starting to send out R3, then we can expect ours to arrive in the next 1-2 weeks at most.
-
I would really like to hear about the 6970M availability before mine ships. I really don't want the 460M. My Aafes rep hasn't gotten a response from Dell yet.
So I'm personally hoping for a later ship date rather than earlier. EDD still says "in production," but I'm doubtful it will change until after it ships. -
I'm also interested in putting/upgrading my unit with a 6970M but the thing is we can't change the configuration that we already put it so I think the best thing is if we get our systems and we really want the 6970M then let's just return it.
Hopefully by that time they already have the R3 up in their website. -
is this real?!? am i dreaming?!? (pinching myself) your R3 shipped?!? (more pinching)
but seriously what are your specs? when did you order? and how come mine hasn't shiped yet
-
WOW!!
congrats dude!
can you (plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) post an unboxing vid??!!
-
Lol, yes, I will. and to the man above this post (forgot your username lol) my specs are:
i7 2630QM 2nd Gen. Sandy Bridge (tried to get an upgrade to 2720, but I would have had to cancel, probably going to upgrade it later, but for me, its good enough to handle the games and media I wanna play)
8Gb RAM DDr3
640Gb (2x320) Hard Drive Raid 0 array
120hz 3d bundle 1920x1080 screen
Nvidia 460M graphics ( I had the choice to get the 6970's but I wanted 3D otherwise I may as well have gotten an R2
PLUS although not as good, it won't really be noticeable to me lol. )
Stealth Black
Orion Backpack (lol I couldn't think of anything else) -
There are already unboxing videos on You Tube...nothing has changed.
As far as sending it back to get a different video card, that would blow the discount I'm getting, so don't see that as an option. Just gotta wait and see how it all shakes out. -
I ordered on the 28th of January, and I don't know why yours hasn't shipped, it may be because I talked to them and yelled at them and called them everyday for about 2 and 1/2 weeks lol.
-
Yeah but I find that most unboxing videos are too short and not detailed enough
So I am going to do one MY way lol
-
Well that sounds dandy. I'll look forward to it.
-
i ordered on the 27th and also didnt stop pestering them. (maybe more yelling would have helped lol) now im thinking that maybe europe got it first, after all lionel said that "We will be working to fulfill existing orders and to ship new system orders with the updated Cougar Point chipset as quickly as we can. The reality is that availability will vary by platform as well as location." then again maybe your just lucky
-
I emailed dell yesterday and said I was tired of my ship date getting pushed back and to cancel my order, today my order changed to delivery preparation. I am happy either way just as long as they don't string me along for another month.
-
hope not.....let us know if they ship your comp....
-
congrats! just 2 questions
1 what are your specs
2 what country are you located in -
Core i7 2630QM, 4GB, 120Hz screen, GTX 460M, 320GB
USA -
it seems to me that the 2630's are shipping first. could be those are the mobos dell got already and there might be a longer wait for the higher models.
did anyone else with a 2630 get an update? -
All of the processors offered for the r3 go into the same motherboard. It's either coincidence or the fact that Dell has more of the 2630 processors available (Which is likely, considering they're the cheapest cost wise and most likely to be ordered)
-
i understand that i was just thinking that maybe intel sends them the mobos with the processors in them
-
I think it's because I am lucky lol, but also because I live in the UK.
-
The processor shouldn't have much to do with it, as Lionel said on the Dell site, different areas would get more mobos / have less orders to fulfill so its probably going to be pretty random how fast / what areas are shipped out.
-
i thought so too originally but MajorMonacle is in the uk while djarum is in the usa
-
Hello everyone, I just got off the phone with a Dell rep now this time its very different. I called Dell to demand them to at least change my shipping from 7 Day to Next Business Day, sadly the rep wasn't able to do so since my system is near its end/completion or is to be shipped already.
After explaining how the my EDD jumped from one to another, he kind of or somehow made a point that I'm going to get it on or before next week(My EDD is 3/11).
I really hope this is a good sign for us who's waiting for quite some time now. -
What are your specs and what country are you in?
-
that sounds like all kinds of baloney call back get a different rep and try again. i've had reps insist they cant put a note on my account to expedite my order and others that have done it gladly. in my experience us reps are more helpfull in this department. so just try again and good luck
-
HI my EDD IT'S 4/13 AND NOW IT'S IN DELIVERY PREPARATION UNTIL TWO HOURS AGO SEAD IN PRODUCTION.....
HOPE TO BE TRUE.... -
I just hope its not. I'll try again tomorrow thanks for the heads up tho.
I got the 3d bundle and just upgraded the RAM to 6gb thats about it. -
my edd is 4/13 as well an it also just changed to delivery preparation
anticipation mounting..................... -
Congrats to both of you, mine still says "In Production" I sure hope it's going to change tomorrow.
-
I've been keeping up with all the posts from day 1 but haven't posted anything since it would be more of the same old news...but thanks for all the extremely helpful comments.
Anyway, on 1/28 I ordered 2 identical R3's (just different colors), 1 for me and one for my wife who isn't even a gamer, just figured it was something I had to do for the price I got with AAFES discount and the pricing mistakes that Dell had for a few hours on that day.
-i7 2820QM
-8GB DDR3
-460M, 120Hz 3D Vision
-256 SSD
$4000 total for both, definitely worth the wait and not canceling.
Original EDD 2/21, changed to 4/18(updated). Just called like I do every day and it is now being prepared to ship! So configuration probably doesn't matter, I think we'll all be getting our R3's shortly... -
@Everybody,
Today I received a call from a csr supervisor, telling me that I might want to cancel my order and reorder, because there has been "delays with Intel, and my order will be delayed even further." He said that it's probably best to cancel and reorder, which didn't make sense. I then yelled at him about why mine would be delayed even further, if others' have changed EDD and will be shipped, and even the XPS has a 3/18 EDD. He didn't offer me a good answer, and then suggested that I cancel and reorder with same config and then (somehow) the manufacturing team will get it to me earlier than the 4/13 EDD order. This did not make sense to me at all. I kept asking him why why why why would mine be delayed compared to a reorder. And then I said to him, is it because they're backlogged and put on the backburners, perhaps? He hesitantly said yes. And then I asked him so how do I go about doing this without going through aafes, who have up till now given me headaches. He then said he'd check with HIS supervisor, and call me right back. 5 minutes later, he calls me and says that he will initiate a conference call with aafes, and we will all work it out over the phone. I then asked him, so basically, it's a paperwork thing, right (the reason for why we have to do the call with aafes vs. the dell guy doing everything for me). He said "Well, yes, sir, basically." So, he puts me on hold for which he says will be 2-3 minutes... 7-8minutes passes, and he finally comes back to me saying that he spoke to aafes, and we have to wait for their dell rep to give her a response. Basically, he's gonna call me tomorrow (I hope to tell me wassup). Once again, I asked for email confirmation of everything, and of course, nuttin in my inbox.
Anyways, I'm getting really tired of this. I'm almost ready to cancel. Gonna call aafes tomorrow myself, if I don't get a call from this cat by 10am PST. This morning he called me around that time, so I know for sure he'll be at the office.
Stinks that mine's still not gonna ship, even though I ordered WAY EARLY. Ridiculous how the orders that have been on hold may be on hold even longer, and mysteriously, a newly placed order will ship out sooner. Makes no sense. I think what we've all been saying is becoming true: Dell values new customers more over past(loyal aka desperate) customers (aka me and the rest of you on NBR). Case in point: XPS 17 getting the 3/18 EDD instead of an EDD later than my(and prolly yours too) "4/13(updated)". This is complete and utter bs. Tomorrow's the last chance they're getting, and then I'm calling to cancel with aafes and prolly gonna buy Asus. At least with ASUS I can buy from amazon and my cc will cover it for sure.
*Sorry for the long paragraph. I hope you understand my frustration (and confusion). I typed it the way I remember the situation today--hence the cloudy/ambiguous nature of my first paragraph. Trust me, I'm just as confused of the reasoning as you may be.
EDIT: Btw, my EDD is still "4/13(Updated)". Fin lame. -
Hope to be update by a he/she and not a computer,if it's update by computer......then we still have to wait for delivery preparation for who knows......
