naw. i'll probably get everything sorted out tomorrow. i'm expecting to be out bided soon on ebay. so i'll have to settle for the micro center deal. i'll let everyone know how it's going tomorrow.

doesn't look good guys. i called my credit card today and they said microcenter never called but they will note that i called and if microcenter were to call today, my credit card company would let them know that i am the one purchasing the laptop, not someone else. i'll give them a call at 10am to see what's up.

just got done talking to microcenter. they had to have the credit card issuer on the phone also to verify security questions. kinda dumb but better safe than sorry. m17x is still on back order. as of today. 5-7 days before shipping out/ could be longer. i should receive an email about the back order later today.

Well I called my CC company last night and they approved the pending charge for Microcenter but my phone number was wrong so I updated it and called Microcenter this morning and they told me the phone number on the account was wrong so I told them I fixed it and just to re-run it. We shall see.

I just got the call from micro center as well! They told me the were making sure i'm who i am and such! They also said 5-7 days!

I just got another call from Microcenter... surprise surprise. Well US Bank was still telling them it was the wrong phone number. I had her three-way in US Bank and the woman was like "I don't know what was wrong with the last representative as it clearly shows on here that he changed it last night" - so now my order is out of hold and I should get an email today telling me that it is on backorder.
The rep at Microcenter did inform me, however, that they ordered a new shipment about 3 days ago and are just waiting for them to arrive and they will be sent out in the order the orders were received. -
I really don't care for this microcenter crap.
I mean, I know it's a good deal but I have got a better deal thru Dell. All these huge shipments for microcenter is holding up my order -
You got a better deal through Dell? How? Most I could get was my EPP 7% discount...

Well I got same day shipping, because they were in stock (this was 2 weeks ago). I agree with Mazda about the complications though, it's almost like they want to be so sure it's a legit order that it seems like they don't even want to sell it.
Hopefully it doesn't take too long for them to restock so you guys can fire the beasts up. -
i'm hoping to get mine next week.. it better not ship on friday. that would really suck. i got 2 day shipping so i wont see it till the following tuesday.

i just got done chating with microcenter again. they said that the reason why we might not have received our back order emails is because some of us who has not received any back order email might get what's left of the m17xs that they have in stock. i'll chat with them again before they close to get a better idea.

That would be interesting if I got one that was in stock. I'd be a very happy camper since my X205 is still at Zettalogica... They've replaced the mobo, GPU, and DVD drive and they're just now figuring out that the screen flicker is either a bad cable or the LCD itself. *rolls eyes*

So I got my Microcenter M17x today. The battery, like many others have been saying on this thread, was not recognized by Windows. I shut down, unplugged, took out the battery and held the power button down for over 10 seconds, I did it a couple of times just to be sure, put the battery back in, plugged it in and voila! Works great.
This computer is utterly amazing. I have Moo's rainbow FX on, it's stellar. The build quality is unlike anything I've ever seen in a notebook. Going from an 8 year old desktop and a terrible monitor to this is truly epic. The screen is fantastic, I see no problems at all. The GPUs and CPUS are running well, no problems so far. The greatest part of all was installing various programs. I had become so accustomed to waiting forever with my old computer and now I have more time available to get what I want done. Gotta love that!
Also, it does indeed come with a Windows 7 upgrade. Some people on the thread were wondering about that.

wait until it is actually shipped ..call fed ex if that is who they are using for you ,...ask them to upgrade your shipping method and boom its done...worked for me.. -
Fedex, UPS, DHL Have NEVER let me do that.
I have called and asked if I could pay extra would they get it here faster and they don't ever let me do it. -

I tried it not that long ago with my original M17x order.
Called and the Fedex CS said that since it was shipped by Dell's acct absolutely no changes can be made.

Wanted to update this thread with some new information and my personal story. In about a week I went from not wanting a M17x because of the size, to being in love. I happen to live by the "flagship" Alienware Microcenter in NJ, and I went there to check the machine out. Fell in love right away and wanted to take one home on saturday. I already knew that for the price it was a awesome deal vs what I could get direct from dell. I also checked to see if they had stock before I went just in case, and they showed that they had 3...
Well the 3 that they had in stock, were the 3 floor models that they had! Since this is the flagship store they have a whole section/room for Alienware stuff and 3 M17x's out on the floor(not a totally bad thing). Anyway, the salesman told me he was going to get one from the Long Island store and have it by tuesday. I said great...
Well I just happened to be going to long island that day and was right around the corner from the Micro Center there. Went in, they didn't have any. So I called the guy back at the "flagship" store where they prided themselves on them being the biggest Alienware shop blah blah blah and told them the Long Island store doesn't have it either. He said he would get it for me and not to worry.
To make a long story short, after no one getting back to me today, Tuesday, I called and asked for a manager.(on a side note the NJ stores phone system is f'd and you get a busy signal 99% of the time). The manager said he would see what he could do, gave me his cell phone number since they knew their phone system was messed up and he would call me back. 5 hours later he calls back and says that they are out of stock EVERYWHERE. Any store that shows they have stock are either floor models or returns. DOH!
I've gone back and forth with myself in looking into other machines, but the Micro Center deal is so good its hard to pass up. Also the Nj store has 3.5% tax vs. 8.5% in NY where I live so that's an extra $100+ even if I ordered online from any store. So now it is just a waiting game into when they will get them back in.
All this to just play WoW -
There's a rumor spreading that Microcenter is increasing the price on that machine... I would take my chances ordering it online that way your price is at least locked down.

called them today to see if there was anything i could do to change the shipping hoping one person would be nice, but no the recommended that i stay where i'm at too, and not to cancel! Of course i'm not going to cancel and also i placed the order on thursday when they told me it would be 5-7 days and today gues what the told me it would be 5-7 days again!!! BS!!

Well that scared me enough, I just went ahead and ordered it from the website. If I can get it locally I will just cancel the online order because it's costing me an extra $130. Either way I can't get a better deal then this even with EPP and DPA.

Yeah, when I was inquiring about backorder, she said not to let the order be backordered for more than 30 days or they'll cancel it and she wouldn't be surprised to see the price go up on them soon because of how great of a deal they are.

Just a note for those who are ordering this great deal from California...
I recently talked to a rep about the status of my backorder, since its been about 7 business days from the day I ordered my laptop. Apparently, the laptop will not change its status from backordered to shipped until it has been shipped from the California distribution center because of the CA Recycling Fee that they have to charge. SO, technically your/my laptop could be in-transit to Cali right now from their main distribution center in Ohio. Who knows? I just want this beast soon ):. -
They got them in today and are shipping out backorders.

Yeah I asked them to call me when they confirm they were getting more stock. She called me this morning and said they got them in today and will be shipping them out over the next few days.
I have to say, Microcenter has awesome customer service! -
I talked to one of the online reps and they said that the machines are in route to the warehouse and will be there next week. He told me my machine should be shipped by the end of next week. Either way, if they have them now or next week, this is good news for all of us as we have confirmation from 2 different sources that they are going to have stock.
