Let's hope they don't disappoint us by not including RGB LED.
-
RGB LED is not the end of the world
Don't forget what the true purpose of this is ... -
There was no mention of RGB LED and though I would like to have it, I don't think it is going to be part of the package or they would have announced it.
Core i7 with GTX295M GDDR5 would be great already... -
GTX 285m does not have DDR5
-
RGB LED is key for me. I'm holding out hope it will have the option for it. -
now that the m15x has i5 will we be able to use switchable graphics? And if so any ideas on how much battery life we can expect?
I really love the m11x, but it makes me wish AW did something in a 13-14inch formfactor to complete the lineup. -
I understand. Each to their own
But for me a gaming laptop should deliver in gaming all other are less important. I do include the screen in the gaming aspect. But LED is good enough for me ....which we all know will be there -
9 cell 3:xx -
Now, we all know that the GTX380M is really going to be a refreshed version of the old G92 architecture. -
Is there a real difference in between RGB LED and white LED? I mean besides photoshop apps can you really tell a difference in gaming???
I have strong doubts that there would be a difference. -
-
The Moo, I am not going to question you... You've been right on most things so far.
-
You can see a huge difference in games and movies. The color gamut in RGB LED blows away the weak one found in WLED. So far the trade off is that RGB LED's tend to have poor black levels but I think that's more related to Samsung than it is a problem due to RGB LED tech. If LG ended up producing their RGB LED display (since Dell has a good relationship with them) and we get it, I'll be jumping up and down with joy. -

little pissed about aw screwing us with the m15x pricing
-
Yeah in my opinion I'd say so. However, the WLED in the M15x looks great so I imagine even if RGB LED isn't included with the refresh, the WLED won't disappoint (as long as it's LG). -
What's going to disappoint me is if it takes more than two weeks to be able to start ordering the refreshed PC.
-
don't expect everything to go quickly ....
They are trying to meet desktop orders and laptop orders now ..;... -
i just hope it goes up before the return date for my m15x hits, is it 21 days from ship date or delivery date. and it's 30 days if there is something wrong with the system right???
-
There's something i noticed for quite awhile in the Singapore/Asia dell online store and its that there's a $200 cash-off on the M17x till the 14th of Jan. I suspected the refresh would come after that so i guess it won't come any earlier than that for us. However, who knows we might get it the same time as America, Singapore isn't outdated at all when it comes to technology and the latest gadget.
-
Hopefully the Alienware M17x Refresh will come out, in Australia; at almost the same time as the American one. Can't wait!
-
so to be correct it is 21 days if i where you hyptheticaly talking here if you are with in your 21 days i would make something up or try to make something that is hardware go bad that way you can get the non restocking fee returnn -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
you can always sabotage something...... like desolder one resistor on a graphics card or something (please dont hate me for suggesting this lol)
-
i don't, just unsure of opening my computer lol, thruth is that i love my m15x, but i really want the 5870 for it, and so far nothing so if the core i7 refresh of the m17x comes out i'll just pick that up with sli or crossfire.
-
Err, wow, so now for the same price as before, you have a cheaper cpu (i5 540) less ram (3 rather than 4) and you pay more for the 9cell battery? O_O
Woa thanks Dell. -
HURRY UP WITH THE DAM REFRESH ALIENWARE!!!!!! I HAVE TEH MONEY AND I WANT TEH ALIENWARE COMPUTER NOWS!!
/rant off. -
standard was always 3 gigs
-
you could also say disconect the gpu or cpu fan and let it over heat then plug it back in before calling dell and telling them that your system is not working right
-
-
Wow, I just realized that the Studio XPS 16's only screen option is the RGB LED. Those better get in the M17x soon. I've tried to get answers from Dell, but the helpful people there are few and far between. The most helpful one's have told me the M17x is getting a new screen "sooner than you might think". I'd have to call this later than I might think because I was expecting something significant to happen at CES regarding the M17x or a new large system.

I remember I had suggested someone to smash his M17x display to have it replaced because Dell refused to warrant his 1 dead pixelWell he has complete care by the way.
-
hahaha, this is the reason that I don't mind pushing my system so hard during Benchmarking. I paid close to $1K to have my standard warranty extended 4 years, so all in all I have 5 years of coverage with complete care. Somethings bound to die, and when it does, it'll get fixed. Might take a while from Iraq, but I have no issues sending it in since I have my 1720 with me as well.
-
So the 620 is a dual core? Is there any benchmarks or comparisons with the 720 out there? I could find nothing. Seems like the only thing majorly different about the M15x refresh is the lack of bluray. Wonder why they did that is there a problem with the BR drives in the release M15x's?

lol - I just got this from our corporate contact in Dell. I've just ordered an M17X for "work" (ahem) purposes and I asked him if there was going to be a new model with the i7 processor. Sales people will always be sales poeple.
"They are pretty cool looking alright and well liked in the gaming community, so I'd say it will catch their attention straight away. The m17x will not be getting the i7 as far as we have been told to date. We normally launch a new product with the new processors and latest chipset in one go so I can't really see them changing processors mid life cycle."
I think Dell should revise their internal communications. Either way if the M17X does magically appear with an i7 and new graphics chipset over the new few weeks the one I ordered will be making a swift return to the factory. -
You should have directed them to Dell's internal blog which states it is getting the i7.
-
Not even 30min after I placed another order for a M17x (first one was bad from factory, replacement kept locking up so I got a full refund and returned it) I found this thread. Man I was hot over the weekend because it was a EPP order and they are closed over the weekend, but I just got it canceled. I've been waiting since 10/17/2009 to get a working one so a few more weeks won't be that bad, especially since this sounds like it's going to be a much better system.

I'm so jealous with you guys who gonna watch p0xx on the new gorgeous RBG LED display
-
It is also key for me.
Kinda dissapointed that a $ 4K + laptop did not have it already when many other laptops (even low end ones) already do. -
So here's to hoping that my 3rd M17x (when the refresh is available to order) will be the charm! -
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
^^ With that kinda problems you are deserved to watch p0xx on RBG LED display
-
hmm.. I wonder what the return policy is. My Machine is under a month old.. I believe it arrived 12-16..
Wonder if I can return this and get the new 17x. -
Import, check my thread in side topics. 21 day policy. I simply told them it didn't meet my needs. AKA my needs are the newest model
It's offical, entire Alienware lineup gets refresh.
