    Would be nice to see a Mobility 4830 but I won't believe it until there's a bunch of owners on NBR running benchmarks with it.

    But I think the M17 is nearing the end of it's life, really.

    Doing that would take away sales from the M17x and, shortly, the new M15x :)

    His reason for getting rid of it would be out of being bored and needing something new . Its not the power he is after . He would rather spend his free time making guides etc helping the community. Oh and he hates Nvidia basically does not help the matter much either :).

    I've never used ATI cards before but I always see people saying how much better they are than Nvidia. I have a 9800GTX+ on my desktop and i think its not half bad but I wouldnt mind trying out a pair of ATI in crossfire. What would the benefits of ATI cards vs Nvidia cards in the M17x or the new M15x be?

    Unlike the current nvidia mobile gpu's (280/260), the ATI's are actually based on the newer hardware tech.

    The g92b's are REALLY old stuff that has been around for a while.

    Something to consider is any mobile i7 notebook won't have switchable graphics until next year. Intel doesn't have a chipset with an IGP for Calpella, Nvidia's MCP79 can't support it because of the changes to the memory controller, and the MCP99 isn't planned until sometime Q1 2010 (if Intel doesn't block it).

    Yeah Im pretty sure that wouldn't work.

    ATI and Nvidia's hybrid options require an IGP and a dedicated GPU...soldering a GPU onto the motherboard wouldn't make it an IGP. :p

    Even regular SLI and CFX require the same GPU.

    40 days, it could possibly be a mobile i7 variant of the M17x, perhaps with new GPU options, and the new M15x, plus a desktop, or a desktop, M15x and the new curved display Alienware was supposed to release. Might even be a half capable netbook in there.
