Hope the 9/9/09 date would make Dell feel lucky to release it

 

I got the Alienware Insider September 2009 and all that's in it is the M17 (yes the old one) with a price drop (that they havn't even updated on the site) and the ALX X-58.
It doesn't mention Landfall at all though so I wouldn't be alarmed, suppose it's just the regular newsletter with them trying to get rid of the old systems.

Damn... when I saw it in my inbox with the title "Battle ready, anywhere - the mobile gaming supercomputer‏" I thought it might be about the Landfall..

 

Hope slowly being seeped from my body.

Well I live in Europe so that might be it.. though we usually get things last and pay twice as much as the US

 

Life is great in Florida!! (just too darn hot!)


I work specifically in healthcare and have been looking for a job since Aug 08, its been tough. Job market not too fantastic here right now. Hence the reason I am still up looking to see if any info on the M15x has come out...hehe.

I am after getting an email from Alienware Insider advertising a new M17(which appears to have been redesigned slightly) and some desktop.. Yet when i go onto the website there is nothing there.. Did anyone else get this ?

 

That would be interesting. I didn't get it. Does it come with a pic? Can you post it? Does it say anything about specs?

Well, at least this is better than the earlier thought of a new M17 instead of a new M15x.

Yeah they screwed up that email. The pic is the first gen m17x.

 

I thought it was the m17x too but if you look at the vents and sd/expansion card slots there is a veyr noticable difference..

Apologies if I got anyones hopes up.

 

M15x = 4870's DDR5 = Unicorn

 

First Gen M17x.. I stand corrected then. .

Still have to point out that the main reason this email was sent seems to be to advertise the new gfx cards for the M17 yet they still dont offer the option for 4850s on alienware.co.uk

 

In alienware.co.uk they get completely crazy;

1 - the price of M17 rised yesterday, and today should get lowered again (as announced in the email).

2 - it has been weeks that the 4850s are not displayed as an offer.

3 - the only display option is 1920x1200, the other one disappeared one week ago.

4 - Skullcap design disappeared yesterday (damn them!!! I want a skullcap M17!!!).

5 - Orion backpack disappeared one week ago.

6 - the european M17 with 3870s cost more than American M17 with 4850s (with the same remaining configuration).

7 - Disappeared Wireless-N option for M17 (like one week ago)...

 

September E-Catalogue is up on Dell Home and there are no deals for Alienware in it.

 

what the heck is going on? This is becoming a downer fest now.

 

Going by Alienwares recent history, they like to draw out these product launches as long as possible, with loads of stupid hints, teasers and countdowns.

Since there has only really been the vague 'Landfall is coming' and that pic, to be honest I would expect to have to wait at least a few more weeks until getting any solid info.

Though I would be pleasantly surprised if they proved me wrong.

 

But then you would have to wonder why they said landfall is expected in days rather then using the term soon. Alienware is starting to give me a headache.


Edit: Does anyone remember what time during the day that Alienware outed the M17x?

 

8am CST. That's when they officially open but the evalue codes worked the day before.

 

it was pretty early, around 7 - 8 AM est.

Well, it seems that no unveiling will take place today.

 

8AM here and they are still advertising the "Landfall expected soon" on the frontpage....Also the they used the term days, a smart marketing technique that gives them technically until the end of the week before we can officially call them liars .
