Wow...I was just going to place an order today for an M17xR2 but I guess I will wait for the dust to clear.
-
I'm still good
-
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Still good too. Sounds like Weddingvideos4u's cancellation is separate and not related to the R2 orders.
-
well this sucks i still haven't sent out my m15x, (i am gonna miss it, damn dell hasn't emailed me the shipping lables yet) so hopefully by the time they get around to emailing me the shipping lables and i send it back this little problem will be fixed.

it could be the combination of parts as it says on the emails.
although it is ordered with blueray burner and ati 4870 crossfire. guess i will find out today. will keep you posted -
maybe they were out of nebular red?
-
If they haven't sent them yet then you probably won't get them unless you call again. -
thanks for the tip joker, i'll call them today.

they have re ordered me a system without my permission with nvidia cards in it!
to say that im unhappy is a grave understatement! -
I was thinking maybe the 260's or the 280's. -
weddingvideos4u Notebook Consultant
i dont know, i assume it will be 260 sli as originally configured.
i just hate this! -
Well, when you go to configure the core 2 duo model, you have these choices for videocards:
Single Graphics
Single NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M, 1GB [Included in Price]
Single - 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 4870 [add $300 or $9/month1]
Dual Graphics
Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled [add $300 or $9/month1]
Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled [add $600 or $18/month1]
ATI CrossFireX™ – Dual 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 4870 [add $700 or $21/month1]
Up to 145% Graphics Performance Increase with Dual 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4870 GPUs
So the next one down would be the 280's.
For the dual cards anyway. -
I suspected that they might be out of 4870s. I won't be the least bit surprised if nearly everyone''s orders get held up or canceled. ATi likely pushed the 4870's to EOL. If we're lucky we'll get 5870s but that might mean waiting till March.
-
Perhaps we can blame the people who are getting thier 260/280's replaced with ATI's...j/k... -
My second order has been moved up to 2-15 so I have a 2-2, 2-15 ETA. My rep expects those dates to be met. We shall see.

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!

Actually that's a good thing. It went from 2-17 to 2-15.

No idea at this point. If my first order got canceled it wouldn't be the end of the world. My second order was a better discount.
-
ETA: 2/16/2010
Status: In Production
When I finalized my purchase, the rep said that he didn't expect any delays on this since they are cranking them out (but then again, he didn't seem that knowledgable).
That said, I would love to have the system upgrade to the 5870 (I figured once they came out they would be extra over the 4870s and this deal was too good to pass up, plus I figured I would be getting a warranty replacement in a year or so given my computer luck). -
Just checked myself after hearing about all these cancellations, spoke to an online rep and called the automated system, both sources still confirm my order is in the processing: build stage, ETA for shipping 02/04, next day delivery.
Some advice from you Dell/Alienware veterans... I was going to return an unopened m15x i7 today after getting my UPS label the other day. Now I am debating, because I would really like (not yet need) a latop and who knows when we might actually GET our orders. Wondering if I should hang onto it after all until this mess gets straightened out...assuming three months time. The question then is can I sell it for a good price (at least 90% of my cost) on the web, or is there some way to say lease it from Dellienware in the meantime?
What would you guys do in my position? -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
-
Mine still shows 2/9 ETA on delivery, I ordered on 1/20. If they are actually running low on 4870s, I'm tempted to change my order around some to push the date out and hope for 5870s.
-
Ok guys I PM'd nagshead asking if there's any truth to the 4870s being out of stock and he said it's not true.

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
has to be something else like the rgb. screen
-
Mine's still in production. Ordered on 1/22 with a EDD of 2/17/10
-
Ordered 1/25 estimated delivery 2/18 (with 2nd business day delivery).

Hi
Previous order was cancelled because of internal technical issues.
Yeah Right I think we can wait the 5870 now -
-
-
I've been told it was because of an internal clerical error and that your new order will still have the same ETA. BTW guys, the first M17x-R2 orders should ship out today -
Not mine, I'm not even in boxing yet.
-
I hope the first reviews and unboxings come next. -
Maybe it will update soon. I've still got a long wait ahead of me unfortunately. -
-
-
Ah well...
BTW, how did you find this out Joker, from your rep? -
From an AW quality rep that frequents these forums. He always gives accurate info. so I believe him when he says that the first batch should ship out today. -
Why are you pissed? Just call and get your new order number. It should have been automatically assigned. -
Caused I have a new order number and u can see my ETA
-
what was your old eta?
-
Oh that sucks. Did you order through EPP? If you did, call in and speak to a rep. (if you don't already have one assigned) and they might expedite your order. -
Just checked my order status and apparently I have NBD which is odd since I just went with the free shipping. Well hopefully this string of good luck continues.
-
Curious, reading through the m15x discussion on the throttling... I imagine we will have the same experience with the m17x's unless Dell did something behind the scenes to fix the problem. Glad to hear someone is here that is intimately familiar with the problem and fixing it!
What's funny is I spoke to an EPP rep who swears they tried to call me twice with the correct number, which is my cell. I swore back that I had the phone with me and there were definitely NO calls from Dell. I may like the machine but man they seem SO disorganized these days. -
Could be your carrier.
-
It could be, but it it would be highly coincidental, I don't have issues with others with any frequency (as far as I know). Still this is all good news... now I don't have to worry about limping along with the m15x for 3 months like I feared might be the case.
-
-
So, like the m15x, will the same anti-throttling techniques work?
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
