I called the number with the extension but uh it seems like just a regular EPP number.
-
I used EPP. Looking at when Dell says the system should ship, NBD will only save me a few days (since it'll span the weekend anyhow). I probably won't have time to do anything with it until Thursday anyhow.
Thanks though -
Opened up my new beast and she's perfect! No dead pixels, perfect build. *knock on wood*. Going to transfer my HDD from this to that system and then do a clean install and send this old one back. BTW I modified my display profile a bit on this one and compared the two. The modded profile definitely looks nicer, the colors are deeper. It's a subtle change but definitely worth it to me.
-
In case you decide to call this is customer support for epp number : 18006958133
they ship nbd during the weekends too. If i were you I'd want my beast asap
So you decided to keep it?
And what's your color profile? Can u share it? -
Yup, there's no way I can wait another month for a small upgrade in GPU speed. I'll just keep my 4870s OC'd and when the 5870s are plentiful, I'll buy them from Dell (already have a dell contact that will locate and sell them to me). Here's the profile, place it in your Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color directory. The difference is pretty subtle but if you have two RGB LED systems side by side, you can see it. I might take some pictures of the two systems and post them if it shows up.Attached Files:

Cool thanks! Will give it a go! Fwiw I think you made the right decision, not worth the wait imho
-
Awesome congrats!!
-
Well, no update in shipping status tonight, but the package still shows an estimated delivery date by UPS of tomorrow 03/24/10. For sure I will be updating the entire path till it shows up at my doorstep (or I go pick it up at the FedEx warehouse).
-
As I sit here waiting for Friday, I've been pondering purchasing the Alienware OptX AW2210 21.5".
Anyone have experience with this monitor? All the reviews seem fantastic and the I'm a huge fan of all ports provided on the side of the setup. -
Mine arrived today! One day earlier than projected. I almost missed the FedEx guy. I came home for lunch, rounded the last corner and saw he had just hung the "we missed you" door tag and was headed back to his truck to leave. So here I am flooring my truck in a residential neighborhood and leaning out the window screaming "I'm right here, don't leave". He probably thought I was nuts. But I don't care, I have my toy.
-
Thanks, I'll probably end up calling them tomorrow (since they were closed by the time I got home).
-
Well, after reading the comments regarding delays with 5870's my trigger finger got too itchy and I ordered
Hopefully I won't be kicking myself in a weeks time. Nice to have joined the crew though.
Now I guess I just settle in for the wait. Still waiting for a EDD.
Specs are in my sig. -
Congrats!!
-
LOL + congrats!

Well, the fedex site updated really quickly last night. It was at the warehouse nearby. I just checked again this morning and saw "Out for Delivery". I will have to wait till I get out from work to use it. I will post more information, maybe photos on Friday.
-
Well, I called them and was told that the computer would most likely get to me before the EDD so they wouldn;t upgrade. The rep was fairly useless and had no idea what stage it was in other than production and wouldn't tell me when the laptop might ship. I hate dealing with Dell, so I'm just going to wait this out.
-
Congrats man!! I will try the profile out when i get mine. Just sucks waiting for it.
-
Glad you decided to jump in! Pull up a chair next to the campfire and hangout with the rest of us
-
Where's Joker's post on the profile? I did a quick search but couldn't find it. I wont get my system for another week, but it doesn't hurt to prepare!
-
Dell sent a response to force me to mark my bbb complaint closed I fired back with once I get the laptop and find it in the correct packaging your company itself specified and it's in good working order will I close this complaint satisfactory. Still got an Edd of 4/14 so I continue to wait it out but less stressed since I got a loaner haha I guess you could call it that
-
Still "in transit". Yes, I am just a little bit anxious.
-
I asked the rep I've been dealing with to send me a second enclosure/interposer but he thought I was requesting a second HDD..idiot. Anyone have the AW phone number + part numbers? I'll try giving them a call.
-
This is from their support website on alienware.
For Sales Order Online or Call 1-800-ALIENWARE
For Service and Support call 1-866-287-6727
I called the second one and told him my issue. He said it should be in the accessorys box. I said there isn't one and my invoice said there should be one. I specified the cage + interposer + screws and he said he understood and would get it out to me.
Not a big deal since i am using my SSD, but still weird to not include it. -
Item #'s
Screw: D837T
Interposer: F673N
Bracket: Y248M -
So joker, i put the profile where you told me. i right clicked and chose install profile. then i went into color management window, clicked use my settings for this device checkbox but i can't seem to install the profile. It doesn't appear in the window, and when i press add button, and choose it, that doesn't help either..
what am i doing wrong ?
EDIT : Nevermind, figured it out
-
Thanks, I read these posts a bit too late. I called tech support and requested the part but it was completley different part number that he quoted (TRDD2). He seemed to know I wanted the 2nd hdd enclosure so hopefully it's the right part. Guess I'll know soon enough.
Ok glad you got it working. I'm not sure you will see a large difference right away because the changes are mostly with the gamma. On bright colors (e.g. red/green) the colors are a bit deeper. -
Thats the part I used to get mine a while back.
-
Status: Delivered
whoot!!!
Still got a few hours before I get home though. -
Whats this then?
1 F584N ASSEMBLY..., BRACKET..., HDD, W/CON, SECOND..., M17X -
Congrats! You're going to love it. -
quite frankly i can't see any difference at all for
i am gonna take your word for it until i see difference -
Is the interposer the same for the R1 and the R2?
-
Its a very subtle gamma change. If you want something more drastic, the ATi control panel will let you change it up more. I think Crylo posted his settings in another thread. -
I'm guessing that what you have is the whole kit. What I have is the individual item number for each part??? I got this info from the invoice that came with the items
-
Yes, F584N is the entire kit: bracket, interposer, and screws.
-
should be. I hope. I am taking mine out of the r1 and using for the r2.
-
lol thats funny, my invoice has the part i listed and doesn't include the parts broken out like yours. Weird. -
The rep I talked to couldn't find the kit number so he looked for the parts. When you got the kit, did it come with one screw??
-
They have to manually specify on the order to include 3 extra screws. By default when they process the order it only selects one screw.
-
Are you guys talking about the screws that hold the HDD in place or the 4 screws that are part of the caddy itself? Because those 4 screws are not supposed to be removeable.
-
HD to caddy
-
I thought since the R2 that Dell was shipping the 2nd HDD caddy even if you didn't order a 2 drive setup?
-
You only really need one screw anyway. I just put it in the hole closest to the interposer and it holds plenty tight.
-
It was supposed to be included according to the parts list, but they are not. That's why they send it for free when you ask.
-
That's the first thing I am going to check/call back for is the caddy. If they denied me the 2nd HDD tray, I'm getting it free!
-
Nope they still aren't. You would think on a four thousand dollar system the least they could do is throw in the caddy.
I've got 3 extra dell screws so I guess I'll be fine as long as it comes w/the interposer and enclosure. -
Well, just canceled my M15x order for the config in my sig. Can't wait! I've absolutely killed myself the last month going between the G73, M11x, M15x, and now I'm finally at my last stop.
-
Welcome and good choice. The M17x is the best out there.
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
