Yeah they are pretty high but I could sell it for a higher price there as well. Guess I'll have to think about it because I'm tempted to use it.

I know there were serious, no, MASSIVE delays with the R2.

Dang we have the exact same spec too, minus the 500gb HD. I got the 250gb hd, for $2339.

You could've asked for free NBD. I got qualified for that today.

 

I was 2499 out the door (NBD was free) I decided to open a DPA account and my limit came in at $2500, so he made it with taxes come out right under that. It was $2511 or something.

How the H did you go from 2440 to 2800? 360 in taxes and shipping?

 

NBD is one of the easiest things to get, especially with these damn delays. When I first contacted my rep he offered me 2nd day just because the wait was a month... then they messed up something on my order and I demanded NDB and they had no problem.

 

Sigh.. I know. M15x took exactly a week (6 days production + overnight shipping when I had 3-5 days shipping ). So I was hoping to receive my M17x around that time. But having similar spec as you guys and the posts you guys made previously, I lost my hope. I hate you guys! Haha.

Which rep are we talking about? The one who said the prices will change within 48 hours? If so he's a different guy then the one who gave me over 20% discount. The one who gave me 20% discount was Raymond. However, I tried calling him today and it wasn't his direct number. The number and ext he provided me was the number to his team that he works for. If you can get a hold of Raymond, you just might able to get the discount. Although I highly doubt 20% discount would happen for the 5870s when it shows up in the market. I mean 5870s are new and fresh and demands would go up so they probably won't have to put so much discount in order for the customers to buy it.

 

Oh did you call up again and ask for Raymond personally? Or do you gotta keep calling until you get Raymond on the phone? lol

 

I am both excited and worried. I just got an update on dell.com stating that my M17x R2 will be here on Thurs, this week as opposed to next week Tues.

Crossing my fingers hoping there's no flickering/yellow on a white screen/bad HDD/bad Crossfire cable. lol, yes, I have been researching M17x issues too.

Of course I will update here when I get mine.

 

Don't be worried. These high end parts might have more "issues" but I think most can be fixed by a little tough love on the machine. It's like buying a ferrari. Those damn things have their issues, but its worth the issues cause the car kicks butt!

 

Well going to CC due to the dual 640 2x 7200rpm. Was no use. I would have to send the system back and reorder. To get that setup

I went to the Orignal Sales rep that sold me the system. He looking into it.

 

Hey all! New to the forums. Just wanted to thank you for all the great information you have all provided, and eventually convicing me to buy an m17x. I ordered on 3/12, and have an EDD of 4/14.

Just a quick question- I have my bank account charged for the amount of the purchase price, but just recently the amount is back in my account for the same value. Does this mean my order was canceled? The phone # for tracking says it's still in proccessing.

That initial pending charge is just to determine whether or not you have the money in your account to purchase the laptop. They only charge your account once the laptop's been shipped.

Now that everyone's laptops are starting to ship I wanted to say that IF you were delayed beyond the EDD you can try and get some compensation. My e-mail and follow up got me a free Razor Mamba mouse and my delay was only 2 days beyond the EDD. So, it may be worth a little bit of hassle to receive a $120 mouse for free!

 

Welcome and congratulations. Just as a word of warning, it's a long arduous wait for your Alienware Laptop regardless of configuration. Normally Dell can ship you their top of the line Latitude or XPS in 1-2 weeks, however, because it's an Alienware, it will take a full month, if not longer.

The day I placed the order I was shocked at the 1 month EDD. It's like they literally have to wait for the space shuttle to return from the Alien planet with the parts for your laptop. Whether or not it will be worth it, I still do not know, but I will find out this week.

Also, the Orion Messenger bag was apparently made on Earth with abundant materials because that comes practically next day. It's rather out of order if you ask me, but a few other members have had the same result I did.

That first withdrawal from your bank account is what used to be called a "hold" to make sure you had the funds to purchase the laptop. Holds usually would return to your account in 3 days unless the vendor chooses to pull funds within that time frame.

I am glad they didn't keep my money, because I would not like to have paid for a laptop that's not in my hands for 1 month.

My baby is in Memphis! EDD according to FedEx is now 3/25. This would be only one day late according to the original estimate I received at the time of ordering! This may be the start of a great relationship, love/ hate for sure, but great all the same.

Hmm what to do first. I'm thinking an unboxing party...

 

I did ask for Raymond personally but they all told me he isn't in today. So I'm guessing it's going to be hard to get a hold of him. Wish I can help you guys but even the e-mail that he gave me was the one that's goes to the team rather than to himself.

Still in build was told graphics cards are short and mine will be built with the next shipment here's to hoping this corprate reps not full of it but the current system kicks .

 

Well, it seems like this thread has calmed down a lot and everyone is enjoying their Alienware M17x R2's. I remember this thread was updated almost every 30mins. Now it's every 3 or 4 hours.

Update: I was just checking my dell account and saw a FedEx Tracking #. My M17xR2 will be here today or tomorrow.

Even got some time off work to enjoy the laptop over the weekend.

Lol I love it? The 720 eats everything I throw at it. Crysis modded with picture quality unbelivable and of course wow and aion maxed aswell I'm going to try napolian total war saveing me2 and bio2 for the deployment I'm due for somtime this year. Oh and the screen just makes me cry sweet sweet tears of joy I never knew how beautiful things look threw it.

You can see how I got the price when you look at thepicture I posted about 10 pages back on the 13 th of this month or 14th also stupify the rep said it was just graphics cards the factory is short on so that should answer it.

 

Even the 5870s are in short supply for Clevos. I'm reconsidering my sale now because it looks like there won't be ample supply of ATi graphics chips until at least May if not later. Sigh.

 

Loving this so far. About ready to take it apart and throw my ssd in it. Sweet pc.

Looks like the 5870's are going to be a hot commodity for a while and stock levels won't be normal for a few months it seems.

 

It's not just 5870s and not only screens, looks like most notebook components are on back orders these days. I ordered a Lenovo ThinkPad and both the LED screen and the FX880M GPU are in short supply and will be delaying my EDD.
The world is going nutz...

 

put Ina vertex. Man that was so easy. This thing is built to be worked on. And dang, the whole bios load is so quick, I get into windows much quicker than my desktop. So far so good. No second hard drive stuff though
