What drivers are you using? I got 13,491 @ 2.4GHz (With the Q9200, but still).

Edit: I also just noticed you're overclocking through FSB and not multiplier.

    I'm using the 9.6 drivers.

Yes, I'm OCing the FSB, that's because I don't have an extreme >.>

I guess I'll try updating to the 9.6 when I get a chance.

Is there anywhere that has them already modded, or am I going to need to do it myself.

9.6 Drivers, but I didn't disable all the stuff I have running in the background like Norton, and Windows Sync Center etc. I just did a quick run.

Rig in my sig, AW B14 BIOS, no OC.

Updated to the 9.6 Drivers, seem to be better. Came up from 15,346 @ 2.93 to 15,702

im guesssing it will roughly be the same at the qx9300 bar maybe a few points here and there for optimisations that are or are not done

same cpu for all intents and purposes

This setfsb how exactly does it work?

Does it overclock your CPU everytime windows loads?

And does it also work on a T9600 and till how much do you think it can be overclocked?

It raises the Front Side Bus (FSB) speed of your entire computer, thus your memory, cpu, and everything on your computer that uses the system bus with have its transfer speed increased. M17 runs stock at a system bus speed of 1066Mhz, setFSB bumps that up to whatever you set it to.

What Marvie said plus it does not load at windows. All FSB settings revert to stock when you boot.

Kind of disappointed my setFSB OC to 3.47Ghz didn't really give me that much of a 3DMark06 boost. Before and After shots below. Anyone have any ideas?

-Edit- Nevermind, for not putting a whole lot much work into the OC besides setFSB, It looks like my score is pretty respectable. FYI, I tried to inch up the FSB and BSOD's at about 3.55Ghz. Just shy of your OC Rob. Not too shabby I spose.

Why did you bump up this ancient thread? lol.

In games that extra .41GHz probably isn't going to provide much of a performance boost due to the fact that 3.06GHz is enough to satisfy virtually every game on the market. If you felt like, however, for example, using a PS2 emulator that will get a big boost as the more GHz the better...but I'm probably like the only person on this forum who emulates PS2 on his PC, lol.

It'll probably give a nice boost if you're ever converting a movie...

A new one isn't in order when one already exists? And 16 days old is ancient? Anyway, I was just posting my experiences using setFSB on my "Ancient" M17 (cuz you know, its way older than 16 days).

I just changed my FSB through BIOS to 1285 and it clocks at around 2.4 ghz. I ran an OCCT test and used 3dmark06.

OCCT - left it for an hour and the test went perfect
3dmark06- got around 10550 prior to OC, after i got 12500

Everything was working fine until I started playing L4D. I maxed out the settings to see how it would handle. It was good for about 10-15 minutes and then a crash. Afterwards, my screen started to flash white dots all over in random places and random times... probably thousands of them. Do I have a serious problem here? Did I fry my GPU? :(

Sorry to mention that I switched the FSB back to the original @ 1066 via BIOS. I tried to play L4D again and it crashed on me. Again. Please help!!!

What temps are people with oc'ed cpu getting ? I mean if mine goes up to 70c under full load at stock settings id imagine it runs pretty hot without any chassis modifications.

For eg Marvie's cpu goes up to 83c in 3dmark which IMO doesnt pressure the cpu as much as other utilities can. So we are talking for a 85c-90c ?

Ive been always bothered about it since a lot of people seem to overclock the cpus but for me is just looks that theres no room for it.

I was getting temps around 65-70c and probably around 80c when i was running 3dmark, however I didn't actually check while running 3dmark.

At 2.5GHz my Q9000 never hits 80C on max load. I'd expect any duo to run cooler, after all they have a lower TDP.

I just want to ask: how far can M17x's Q9000 overclock by setfsb?

You can usually get it to at least 2.4GHz. Some have gotten it higher. Just keep bumping it up in small increments.

with asus overclock tool turbogear it can get 2.3ghz , while with setfsb it can get 2.7~2.8ghz :)
btw,how far can qx9300(es or oem version) oc on m17x maximally(by any method)?
on w90vp, qx9300 es can get around 3ghz(someone got 4ghz but i think he was cheating)

Mandrake has OCed his QX9300 to 3.25GHz. Important to note he refers to his QX9300 as his "lucky" QX9300 though because of this FWIW.
