M17X vs M17 3DMark scores tested

Once you get that second card in there i doubt you will feel that way

I really wish we could move beyond 06 and no one would even bother bringing it into the equation of compariing systems at all. My W90 scored 17k in 06 very similar to the M17 and yet destroyed the m17 in just about everything else. I wish Vantage were free for everyone or people would just pony up the 20 bucks for a key as thats the cost of the basic version of it. Vantage GPU scores really can tell you so much more about the power of your GPUs then 06 ever will.

The M17x should hold most people over until Sandy Bridge's new architecture...hopefully by which time utilization of multi-cores will be the trend and the self-overclocking feature in Calrksfield/Westmere will be on it's way to uselessness.

Who doesn't love a benchmark test with girls in thongs beating on each other?

 

I downloaded that bench and installed it. Problem is when I try to select run benchmark, change settings, quit etc. nothing happens.

Any ideas Quad?

Yeah I already did that so I'm downloading from another source.

Got another 45 minutes till the download finishes.

 

Sorry i was gone most of the day but usually when things like that happens IE clicking on a executable and nothing happens it is the driver your running and something is conflicting .

 

Maybe there's a conflict. It's installed and launches the menu screen but none of the selections do anything. I tried.

 

Try Alt tabbing back to the desktop then bring the game back up

 

That didn't work either. The options never highlight when I mouse over them.

 

This sounds silly but did you try and reboot?

 

Yeah, I rebooted a couple times, reinstalled a couple times and even downloaded from another source.

 

Lol you cant use the mouse you have to use the keyboard for everything IE arrow up and down .

Sometimes it's just the simplest things with computers

 

I seemed to be capped at 60fps max, so I must need to change Vsync settings or something. Everything was at default settings.

Looks good , Yea just run it in 1920x1200. Also Max everything out and run 8xAA if you dont mind.

Identical settings in the benchmark

What the hell is going on?
Should I ask for my money back fro the M17X..LOL!

Mandrake scored 100fps@8xAA on his machine so not sure whats up and i dont have mine in hand yet . Have you disabled the 9400m in the bios yet ?. What drivers are you running ? Rename the Streetfighter exe to Crysis so it will use SLI if your not using 185.85 drivers .

I believe its my drivers. Let me install newer drivers and run the test again.

 

Is Mandrake's bench with all settings maxed, or just 8xAA with all else default?

For comparison Vicious on the Asus W90 score like 120 -130fps @1920x1080 maxxed with 8xAA so mandrake was trying to figure out what was up since the game supports SLI and the nvidia logo spins up at the begining .

Here is where it can get interesting is that anything over 2xAA and the game could be using DX10.1 so in that case AA wont be affected as much on the 4870s in the W90 just like it did in Devil may cry 4 benchmark. But recently Alitunay scored i believe higher then anyone todate on his M17x in devil may cry 4 with 8xAA , these are all capcom games using a very similar if not the same Engine.

Drivers could be playing a big role in all this and im not sure which drivers everyone is using on the M17x since i know not all of them install properly because of Hybrid SLI.


On a 17 inch panel at 1920x1200 i never used AA TBH but since this is testing were all fighting on equal ground . Maybe everyone should all run the game Maxxed out but no AA and see what numbers they come up with as well for comparisons sake.

On my desktop above i lost 112fps just by enabling 8xaa so it was 136fps vs 248fps.

 

I want to get my M17 to run like yours, can I ship you mine?, you perform your magic and ship it back to me...LOL!

Maybe this is another case of ATI > nvidia when it comes to a benchmark??

 

Getting there but you are still 30fps behind my benchmark which makes no sense..

 

What's your score? Got a screenshot? Doesn't seem right since I get 15,500 on 3dmark06 and your sig says you get 13,xxx.

When it comes to Capcom games and AA ATI has taken the lead except for when Alitunay took it back with his M17x in Devil May Cry 4.

Once i get the machine i will surely know more .

@Cool, I think it's just because of the multithreading and you've got a quad.
