ok now drop the res to 1920*1080 and 1680*1050
-
oooo thats ugly at 1920x1080 got 82fps and the 1650 i borted when it looked about 70
bleh -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
???? isn't it suppose to be higher. what driver are you using?
-
9.6 mob modded, must be the scaling filter causing lower fps
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that wouldn't make a difference. the scaling that is.
-
well i dont have an answer then but there was a massive difference in scores, i flipped back to 1920x1200 and scored about the same as last time
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well i'm not sure either. i would have to see if it does the same for me.
-
only thing i can guess is that it is not running native res
but how that would effect it i dont know -

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
zfactor .28

yes it is. i'm going to work in a bit but pm me after you flash it and later on i'll walk you threw to test how stable it is. (if you don't know how to do it or if you already know someone who can do it for you already.)

Thanks -
Guy's Im just trying to get the ZFactor .28 bios into my M17 so I can do some testing.
I did the download, copied the files onto a CD and it will not boot using the CD just kicks back into windows after the Boot from CD request comes up. Did I miss a step in creating a bootbale CD?. I thought the files made the CD bootable.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I did attempt to do some searches on the subject.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks -

As dond said I am using the .28 bios
the easiest way by a ling shot is to follow zfactors USB boot guide, hunt around it's on here somewhere.
Boot from a stick run the exe make coffee then clock the crap outta ur CPU job done really.
If you need specific help I will give u a hand just pm me. But the morale of the story is flash then bench till ur CPU melts then down clock 5 MHz

Here is zfactor's bootable USB guide.
-
I guess the CD option is not a good one? -
Electronic transfer > mechanical transfer IMO.
-
Thanks rob, I'm on my iPhone and searching is a pain hehe
I wouldn't say cd isn't as good, it's just doing the USB is faster/easier for me -
True, I think most people using the .28 bios have had good success with the USB method though.
I just prefer "full electronic" methods like USB and SSD's over their mechanical counterparts. -
i will agree more when i can afford ssd
-
I hear ya. lol
I've got a couple "antique" SSD's but I'm saving for a pair of newer models. -
The usb worked
Bios Version: W840.028
KBC Version 130D
M17 now running at 3.07, seems stable so far.
-
welcome to the club
now get clocking -
3d mark06 15664
I'll keep at it... thanks -
My M17X @ 2.80: 3dmark06 14673. I can't keep 2.93 stable with the current bios.
The M17X is going need need some help.
I will run the thong test (Street fighter 4) on both again also.
Just trying to see what are the highest possible scores on both right now. -
I would go way beyond just testing out 3dmark06 and Streetfighter to decide if you want to even keep it or not.
Take you favorite games load up some save files for the same games on both computers , turn on FRAPS and watch your framerates in the games and how much different they are.
The CPU is not going to have much if any effect on alot of games you play and will mainly only help in Synthetic benchmarks like 06 and maybe vantage,
So even at 2.80ghz it will be enough .
You may want to not overclock with the multiplier at all and instead try overclocking with the FSB instead and see if you can get it higher that way .
Just some more suggestions for you.

Your guess is as good as mine at this point.
I have an EDD of the 31st of this month , im really hoping/praying for sooner but with all the delays from LCDs to Black cases im not sure if it will even be on time . -
after the as5 cured a little i could run stable at 12 multi then tweak to 3.270 with setfsb
I used the GPU tool from 3dguru to clock the cores, but the main oc that i did was to the PCI bus which i run at 104-105
Hope that helps

setfsb
10 char -
-
be VERY VERY careful with the PCI bus as it is a very quick way to blow your card if you overdo it
I do it because i am a mad man
and donda bullied me -
I will try
-
I know im extra late, but heres my results. all stock

Right guys, I just spent about 5 hours clocking everything .5 at a time and have just got a pretty impressive score.
This is with NO cooling mods and NO GPU Oc'ing (as I cant figure out how to get it to work)
M17, Dual 3870's, QX9300, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 HD x2 (No RAID)
9.6 Mobility Modified Drivers
Windows 7 x64
Zfactors 0.28 Bios
11.5x Bios multiplier, 455 / 250 SETFSB clocks
Gives me 16698 3DMarks (3dmark06)

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
adam what's your res?
-
I use 1280x800 as my current drivers dont allow for scaling, and I figured fullscreen was better
Also that GPU tool doesnt actually seem to have any performance impact... It seems to show clocks as being set, but have very little effect. Unless I'm not clocking high enough? -
Well, I got the M17X up to 3.02 (I think)
using
x10.5
FSB 1145
CPU-Z shows 3.02
Vista shows 2.80
Bios shows 2.93
3DMark06 score 15684

ya the 3dMark06 scores really need to be at 1280x1024 to be comparable to others as that is the "default" and therefore standard that runs are almost always made it.
