9.6 mob modded, must be the scaling filter causing lower fps

Guy's Im just trying to get the ZFactor .28 bios into my M17 so I can do some testing.

I did the download, copied the files onto a CD and it will not boot using the CD just kicks back into windows after the Boot from CD request comes up. Did I miss a step in creating a bootbale CD?. I thought the files made the CD bootable.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I did attempt to do some searches on the subject.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

As dond said I am using the .28 bios

the easiest way by a ling shot is to follow zfactors USB boot guide, hunt around it's on here somewhere.

Boot from a stick run the exe make coffee then clock the crap outta ur CPU job done really.

If you need specific help I will give u a hand just pm me. But the morale of the story is flash then bench till ur CPU melts then down clock 5 MHz :p

True, I think most people using the .28 bios have had good success with the USB method though.

I just prefer "full electronic" methods like USB and SSD's over their mechanical counterparts. :p

    My M17X @ 2.80: 3dmark06 14673. I can't keep 2.93 stable with the current bios.

The M17X is going need need some help.

I will run the thong test (Street fighter 4) on both again also.

Just trying to see what are the highest possible scores on both right now.

I would go way beyond just testing out 3dmark06 and Streetfighter to decide if you want to even keep it or not.

Take you favorite games load up some save files for the same games on both computers , turn on FRAPS and watch your framerates in the games and how much different they are.

The CPU is not going to have much if any effect on alot of games you play and will mainly only help in Synthetic benchmarks like 06 and maybe vantage,
So even at 2.80ghz it will be enough .

You may want to not overclock with the multiplier at all and instead try overclocking with the FSB instead and see if you can get it higher that way .

Just some more suggestions for you :).

I have an EDD of the 31st of this month , im really hoping/praying for sooner but with all the delays from LCDs to Black cases im not sure if it will even be on time .

I used multi x 12, but when i first started i used 11.5 then used setfsb to get the clock stable at 3.2ghz

after the as5 cured a little i could run stable at 12 multi then tweak to 3.270 with setfsb

I used the GPU tool from 3dguru to clock the cores, but the main oc that i did was to the PCI bus which i run at 104-105

    Hope that helps

be VERY VERY careful with the PCI bus as it is a very quick way to blow your card if you overdo it

I do it because i am a mad man

Right guys, I just spent about 5 hours clocking everything .5 at a time and have just got a pretty impressive score.

This is with NO cooling mods and NO GPU Oc'ing (as I cant figure out how to get it to work)

    M17, Dual 3870's, QX9300, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 HD x2 (No RAID)

    9.6 Mobility Modified Drivers

    Windows 7 x64

    Zfactors 0.28 Bios

    11.5x Bios multiplier, 455 / 250 SETFSB clocks

    Gives me 16698 3DMarks (3dmark06)

    Nice score adamwalker13!

For easy overclocking of the graphics cards I use a tool from TechPowerup! GPU overclocking and tweaking tool.

Here is a shot of GUPz showing that the clocks hold.

I use 1280x800 as my current drivers dont allow for scaling, and I figured fullscreen was better :)

Also that GPU tool doesnt actually seem to have any performance impact... It seems to show clocks as being set, but have very little effect. Unless I'm not clocking high enough?

Well, I got the M17X up to 3.02 (I think) using

    x10.5
    FSB 1145

    CPU-Z shows 3.02
    Vista shows 2.80
    Bios shows 2.93

    3DMark06 score 15684

ya the 3dMark06 scores really need to be at 1280x1024 to be comparable to others as that is the "default" and therefore standard that runs are almost always made it.
