our cards are "semi" based off the 9800m gtx -----so don't expect much more![]()

I'm happy.
My $3k M1730 only hit 10.5k 3dmarks.
Compare that to this $2k system and we have a winner (not to mention cranking up a P8600 to 3GHz) -
thats close to how high i got my m17 with my t9400 up to
-
My score w/o cpu overclock -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
my cpu is what makes my score high in 3dmark06. stock is 103?? and push heavily is 12,500. (alittle past a 260m.)
-
There will be updated drivers at some point, don't you think?
No offense, but I've been following the thread of people who have their M17x's now and it seems many of them are unexperienced with OC'ing and just plain general tweaking of a performance laptop.
The new rig is just now getting into the hands of more seasoned "optimizers".
-
thn
they will be updated but the drivers for the core of the 9800m gtx (G92/ i think)
they won't give as big of boost with this card since they are more mature.
as soon as i get mine i will OC the card and CPU and try to get records SON
vantage first
-
13 fps, and a 280 gets 17 fps. That means a 4 fps difference.Well, at low fps it makes a noticable difference(can difenitly tell the difference between 13 and 17 fps.But when it gets up like 60 fps and 64 fps it doesn't matter.I'll still wait and see a benchmark of real GTX 260M.
-
guys i did not spend a long time on this thread t only get Vantage and 3dmark06.....
Get some of those Game benchmarks -
Thank you.
-
You sound like you own them and are demanding, just ask nicely man..
-
It wouldn't be hard. Flash the vbios with an overvolt, start at 630/1575/1000 and go from there. Use 185.20 for vantage. Use Dox 182.46 for 3dmark06. Overclock QX9300 to ~3.2. Break records, write about it, /end.
The benchmarks won't be any more interesting than John or Vic's scores, but I'd really like to know the temps when this thing is pushed to the brink. But from what I've seen it's not in the enthusiast's hands yet. Gotta wait... -
yea ill be checking into it
i only got one 260
i know its sad but my car died and i had to get what i only needed
-
RL before computers
I'm kinda questioning my purchase atm because I'm moving to a new apartment, heh. But I love the machine -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I just told you the 260m get 15fps. on crysis. -
I get 18.68 FPS DX10 very high at 1680 x 1050..
If the sli 280M can get 25 FPS at 1920 x 1200, it's passable. -
Currently at work, will have to wait for latter this evening...
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i guess we should add our res.

If you're posting benchmarks that aren't from an M17x please make it clear what machine they are for so there's no confusion.
Sigs aren't good enough because people change them or change their PCs. -
Yeah but 13 isn't smooth just as 17 isn't too... U r going to need to decrease your settings/resolution anyway so... No much points in 4fps more here
-
Give it time, drivers will soon come that boost the fps some mores!
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok i will change it but i was comparing it to a 260m.
-
After these benchmarks the 260 and 280s don't seem like such an awesome card anymore.
-
Just wait until the enthusiasts get there m17x's panzer, thats when it will all kick off.
-
Well... Still just a little better than 9800m gtx
-
Bah, someone will overclock it rediculously, and itl blow the older cards out the water
Manufactured on a smaller die, and higher clocks here
i would think when pushed to its limits it could really put out some great numbers, but only time will tell!
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
well the core itself is at it limits. it won't be able to go up to much farther. anothergeek got his memory to break 1000. which so far for me hasn't worked(never past 950 'lol)
so after this they will do the gddr5. on a 128bit bus. and then the 300 series.
. -
I totally agree. It's way too soon to know what these cards will be capable of.
-
-
Thanks for the benches Johnksss.

I didn't organized my benchmarks yet(i didn't upload it yet.)
e8600 single 9800m gtx highly overclocked
farcry2
41fps average. a single 260m should hit the same or more. -
A Single 260m?
Thats really good.Ok, this card awesome again.Especially being able to conquer Far Cry 2 well over 30+ fps.Thats way better than the 3870s in Crossfire. So a single GTX 260m is an awesome card by itself, imagine SLI! -

crysis benchmarking tool ?
-
Yes, I'm going to try now with updated drivers. Which rez should I be running it at?
-
1900 res
-
lol, the 186.18 drivers show up as GTX 180M gpus in Vista.
-
1920x1200
1920x1080
1680x1050
the 186 may have scaling issues as well..so check all high resolutions to make sure hey all work. -
You think that might affect performance at all?
-
I'm just assuming that's how their identified but in Windows 7 it showed 280M.
-
Crysis test w/186.18 drivers:

not really depends on the specs. my qx9300 @3.2ghz and 3870x2 stock I got 61fps average, 25fps min and 140fps max. sorry I am not on a computer to post pics
but my overclocked 9800m gtx single and e8600 @3.33ghz
was 41.03 average, 20.73 min, and 69.06 max.
for crysis. can you do high. -
seems Crysis HATES SLI 280's
-
Yikes!!
Looks like the question "can it play crysis" is valid with this laptop
-
Or possibly doesn't recognize it. I tried the Devil May Cry 4 benchmarking tool and all it said was 280M GTX, no SLI. Does it normally?
-
Not sure i haven't dealt with SLI yet but i imagine it should .....
Ask John -
During the benchmark in crysis you should see Multigpu or Mgpu up at the top of the screen if its running in SLI .
You can also create System.cfg file and add this line to it as to make sure its using SLI
R_multigpu=1
Put it in the main crysis directory
-
In that case it recognized mandrakes (see his screenshot of the benchie).
Mandrake, could you install the other original nvidia driver and re-test crysis? -
those are single GPU numbers for sure
or very poor SLI utilization -
I'm installing the drivers on the resource DVD now.
