Your right moo and honestly i would just stick with what you have now . 3.0ghz dual core is plenty for what you want . Was a very smart move to stick with the base CPU and not even step up one bit into the p8700 or anything else for that matter.

TBH while more cache is good i can't really find a reason to upgrade from P8600 if u r going to dual (3.0ghz rocks :p ).

But i want QUAD! :D Q9200 or Q9000 unh unh...

The new I7's mobiles from what I've seen from Intels release and such actually have relatively low Clock speeds... more around the 2.0 ghz range

They are talking about the ability to overclock to 3.2

These are the upcoming Clarksfield I5 mobiles? aren't there also upcoming I7 mobiles? I wonder if we could install a new mobo and I7's in our M17x's when they update the M17x with the I5's and I7's

For some reason I don't quite believe that... I think they designed this new shell to be able to fit the new I7 mobiles when they come out as well... by this I mean use the same shell

I highly doubt they will have two system board options. Then again whoever thought we'd see ATI and Nvidia cards in the same system so anything can happen.

Well my thought were they spent soo much time and money on the design of this new system, and it has fantastic cooling that would work with the new Clarksfield Procs as well... so feasible I think so, but who really knows....

They'll just keep this system selling as long as they can and introduce a new line. I don't think it makes sense to keep the same shell. They have to keep things new and fresh.

Im not the least bit concerned about the Mobile i5 and im sure as heck not excited about a CPU that overclocks one core at the moment lol .

New ATI Cards and new NVIDIA cards /bring it on.

Yep, GT300/RV870 will be the real deal. I'm excied to see how the new extreme mobile i7 performs, but I'm keeping expectations pretty low.

As for quad vs duo.... I don't even see a point in having something between the slowest and fastest CPUs :p If you don't need the speed, even the slowest core duo is plenty fast. If you want speed, $400 could have nabbed you the top dog, a really good deal...mine has never given me a single error @2.93.

Qx9300s are now a minimum of $520.00 and i paid that exact amount for the OEM Qx9300 when i had my W90 .

Im going to give the Q9200 a whirl though, im hoping/expecting good things from it :) 2.93ghz should be a no brainer for that CPU and at less then half the cost to boot.

If it does not work as im expecting it should ill just sell it and snag a Qx9300 at that point but for what i paid i can turn right around and sell it for the same, so its a win win scenario for me either way.

Right now I'm feeling if I could find a good QS T9900 for around $300 or less, or if AW offered it as an option instead of the T9800 I'd buy one and forget about a quad until my next laptop.

nice your getting there. did you try any more tweaks in order to get this or you went stock. did you have nhancer installed?

what were your clocks now and what driver did you use.

You need to buy GTA4 one of these days for sure. I wish they would come out with a benchmarking demo for people to try as i think this the game to push your system to the limit and tell what its really made out of :).

i was going to buy it from someone for 20 dollars but i don't like gta4(i would just benchmark it, break records, uninstall, then see someone try to get close to me, then reinstall, break it again and then uninstall. lol. i'm just playing)

but i'm thinking about it. maybe in a little bit (two weeks) i'll do it.
