Try testing them (the "Test for Stability" button) and open up GPU-Z to see if the 9400M is affected/values are changed (open up GPU-Z first to see if the 9400M is detected as an active GPU).
But I don't think it will do anything to the 9400M since it's hybrid SLi (and not Tri-Sli), but let's see...
Edit: But to be on the safe side, the simple way would be to uncheck the sync clocks for multi-GPUs and just set the clocks for each GTX 280ms individually.
-
Increasing voltage can kill your chipset but forcing 6x more clock than a 9400M can take just will make you need a hard reboot lol.
-
I would assume turning on sli turns the 9400M off altogether, just as if you turn on battery mode the sli 280M are completely off.
-
good call's here!
no problem on the english, but your benchmarks have already been ran and posted a few pages back...and i can't do any new ones because my machine is boxed up and waiting to be shipped off.
another good call here. i was thinking the same thing.
also, you don't have to use sync. it is just to make over clocking multiple cards easier. instead of having to do it 3 times. so turn off sync and move them indepenantly. also go in device manager and see what happens if you disable the 9400m gpu there. see if this will in turn take the card out of the loop.
ps. do not use find max clocks we already know where you can start. we just need to see if it will take.
run 600/1000/1500 safety net clocks
core/memory/shader -
When you go to battery mode it turns hybrid mode off in your bios. If your in Windows and want to go back to SLI using FN+F7 you need to reboot. On the other hand if your in SLI and want to go to the 9400M using FN+F7 it doesn't require a reboot. The screen flashes and it works so the 9400M is always present.
-
This is because of the large power increase from turning the 280's on. It's easy to turn off, it's more of a process to turn on. It would definitely make a difference when on battery instead of AC.
Try this: play a game, and pull the plug. Did your PC freeze? -
You'd probably get kicked out of the game while switching. I'm not at home so I can't try. At the very least the game will minimize itself during the switch and when bringing it back up you might have an issue.
-
Home at last. You can disable the integrated card in the BIOS so it's easy enough to remove the 9400M from the equation.
-
Did u test and see if you got better performance in games?
-
I never had any issues in games just benchmarks. I'm formatting my 500GB hdd right now (just got my bracket) then I will upgrade my drivers and try benchmarks again.

Nice results sleey! I didnt know p8600 would hit 3gz
but thats pretty awesome
Look how the CPU is holding 3dmark back hehe. GPU performance seems dam good. -
nice, I didn't get much higher with the x9100.
-
looking good!
someone wanted it so im letting them get it...
-
lol.. Intel isn't going to be happy if the word gets out about the P8600!
-
Have you tried to see if the 190.15 drivers work?
-
Give me a link and I'll try it......
EDIT: I'm d/l right now. -
Here you go.
-
ooo looks good... how much did you sell it for? what is ur next laptop gonna be? (please be alienware m17x lol)
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I thnk the sager.
-
oh is john getting the 9850?
-
mandrake
it's not letting me install the driver (via nvidia setup OR manually forcing it in device manager)
Any ideas?
EDIT: You sent me a XP64bit driver link.. lol at you!
Anyway, the Win7 64bit driver isn't available yet via lv2go. -
Are you getting the error no compatible card found?
-
Read my edited post above you
-
Awesome!!
You beat my laptop config @ stock by 100 points! -
Wow.
So the 280's aren't worth the $300 premium, are they? -
oops, I guess I need to learn to read.
-
Well, 3DMark06 is CPU dependent, not GPU.
Vantage will be the place where we could see a difference between 280 and 260, not in '06. IMHO. -
run 3dmark 06 in 1900 res and see who wins
-
Actually it's there. They must be having some issues on their end. Link.
-
Can't... Don't have the full version and don't have WUXGA
-
d/l now mandrake... thx!
-
Trial version will let you run multiple times.
Put in the trial key, do a test.
Then the next time you start the program, you can just click continue instead of putting in a key and it will let you run a test.
Atlease for me it does in both '06 and Vantage. -
No go for the 190 driver
It installed ok but the system took 10 minutes to shut down. Upon booting, it would get to windows but only the mouse cursor showed up (nothing else at all - black desktop).
I rebooted a couple of times to make sure it wasn't vista acting goofy but it never fully went into windows.
Back to 186..... -
It actually worked for me but I turned off my 9400M. That might make a difference but the drivers themselves did not.
-
Interesting.
That's almost what I get on my M17 with 3870's and a X9100 at stock clocks (3.06) and stock drivers.
I'm sure your Vantage score would be much higher than mine though. -
Its game time guys:
See the screenshot. I managed to overclock one of the cards and we will see how it goes now. By the way when I ran this everything was stock and UAC was on.Attached Files:

dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
nice. it beat the 3870x2.
ok can you put it together on the post stocked. and then try to overclock both. -
What do you mean, it beats anything out there in a notebook. It beats any laptop out there!!!
-
3dmark06 coming
-
Ya im certain those numbers are higher then my W90 was and @ stock that is very impressive indeed. Congrats Alitunay
.
-
3mark came up with 15800. I believe with stock clocks that is ok.
I am running Vantage and then try 8xAA on DMC4 -
yes thats pretty huge , now take it up to 3.2ghz and let see whats happenin
.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
stock cpu?
my post was just regarding the 3870 crossfired to the 280m sli.
for 3dmark06 my 3870 scored 15828 cpu at 3.2ghz and stock gpu. -
So what's different now Ali? Newer drivers?
-
That is correct Stuk CPU and a mini OC on GPU1. That is it.
-
Id prefer to see vantage honestly , 06 means so much of nothing . Sure it would fine to see the machine hitting 18k in 3d06 but i would prefer to see 12k on ther GPU scores in vantage, that would be truly amazing.
-
Really nice 3dmark06 score... cant wait to see vantage and DMC4 on 8xAA...
Sorry, you may have posted this earlier but what are your specs? -
GPU1 is a GTX M card right...and you got them running at different speeds in SLI?
M17x Benchmarks thread !!!
