Haha. Nice John. Just figured I would check. All the people at microcenter tried to b1tch about it saying the color was bad. I just laughed and said both mine looked great, but you are the first person besides myself I know who has one so thought I would ask what you thought of it.

going to get another one and run them in dual. flip them sideways and you have the perfect full screen monitor...you haven't tried that yet??

    edit:
they are crazy. i put one of these up against the led's and it was holding it's own....if it came with a remote...i would be in heaven...i love the gloss screen because it brings out the natural color...(personal opinion only)

Ya I love mine. All the inputs are what sold me. For running them flipped like you said, can drivers handle morphing the 2 into a single virtual screen?

    Boredom bump

    I haven't seen a benchmark in a while. :(

Someone throw something up. Anything. It doesn't matter and explain what was done and how you went about it. :)

Maybe one day I'll get into doing benches on my PC.

PS. Did I mention that score is for my Eee PC?

Where'd you get that from? The only overclocking done in that review was by TurboBoost on a single core.

Can't tell. I really don't like that review since their tests seem very arbitrary and I have no idea what apps they actually ran to get their results.

What do the 0 to 2 range of numbers on the graph actually mean?

The 0 to 2 is a reference to the pentium D 3 GHz I believe. If you go back to the full article it shows that

No the 8 cores are not effectively used in gaming, but in other apps they are used and make the architecture shine. Those apps are somewhat scarce though for average users/gamers

    and the SPD settings:

So it looks like your 5-5-5 1066 kit may be faster all around. You get 6-6-6 at 1333 right? Please post the same stuff for your kit along with the model #

It's in the THREAD starting at post 179. My M17x is actually out of commission because I left my adapter at my sister's house. Don't know when's the next time I'll see her. Probably not for a couple weeks.

hey guys i recently updated my bios to a02 now my gpu fans dont seem to work properly. They merely just idle away even when under load the temps get way to high. Not sure what i did? i just ran the bios program? can someone please help me with my problem ?is there something i have to install after the new bios?

Also nvidia tools tells me that they are set to 0% and i cannot seem to be able to change them they are greyed out alll the time
I know that the fans do work because when i turn it on or flash the bios they come on full

    Cheers in advance

Should be nice to see what the ATI 4870 scores. Those are the actual 4870s, right? They have GDDR5? Will be fast, but now we're just six to eight months away from the 5000 series mobile, let alone the next series of Nvidia GPUS.

Another side note. Anyone take the time to read the article in Maximum pc this month about Direct X 11. It was kinda interesting, check it out if you are at the grocery store or bookstore.

Makes me hope that the next set of GPUs stay within the current MXM 3.0 Type-B or compatible. Sorry for digressing from the point of this thread.

Well despite the initial feeling it might be GDDR3 models, one of the guys in the asus section ordered and his receipt/order confirmation does say GDDR5, so we will have to wait and see. Very close release to series 5 though :(

The 4 series ATI cards were nearly a year after the desktop parts came out. The desktop 5 series JUST came out, I would be surprised if we see mobile parts very soon. They may be demo'd, but I doubt they will be available to consumers before June 2010

Havent AMD gone on record saying they want them out much faster this time, and are fabbing mobile chips in the next month or two? If this is the case I can see them being popular quick if NV doest get gt200 based mobile parts outsoon, AMD seem to want to take on Nvidia a lot more aggressively than before, now they have a lead, to help build thier own market segment.
Eyefinity for laptops could have good uses for those using a laptop as a mobile workstation with a fixed monitor setup, and theyve expanded the HDMI output to cover HD audio bitstream, so there are great potential multimedia and htpc potential from the new line too, all something AMD could capitalise on if they push quick enough.
AMD signed a massive agreement with DELL to so I can see them appearing across the lineup there ASAP, DELL loves marketable features like HD Audio and DX10.
The new, much lower idle power requirements will also appeal to power laptops (no more hybrid GPU needed) if they can bring load power down enough too (the new 5870 idles at 27w down from 160w peak) .

    hey guys

Just upgraded my bios to A02 ran OCCT see what sort of cpu/gpu temps i was getting. Ran the program for 20mins with a max gpu temp of 67 degrees wich seems decent.

i then went into my bios to o/c my FSB/RAM again went back into windows ran OCCT again same test and my gpu fans just dont come on? Is this because i still have the 9400 enabled whilst my cpu and ram are overclocked? The temps were getting well over 85 and i know thats not good

Also with this bios fans dont really kick in till about 65 and back off at 45 is this normal

    Cheers

if you are overclocking I would disable the 9400m, the NB/SB/IGP (they are all on the same chip) is under enough stress from being overclocked as it is

I am working on my next set of benches this weekend and attempting to finally break 17k in 06 and 12k in Vantage.

A bit of other info. I found this article comparing multiple cpu's, including the new i7 extreme. It is a bit lengthy, but anyone looking for a comparison might like it.

My T60p is actually acting up. When I adjust the LCD is gets grainy and starts stuttering. It also flickers sometimes. As soon as I get my new system I'll send it in. Still have a year and a half of warranty on it.

    i have a t61p and a t61.
no warranty, but then i can rebuild them and replace any part on them.
kind of wish the 1920x1200 screen was brighter though.

could be your cable is coming loose from the motherboard...around by the thinkvantage. 5 screws, pop up the keyboard, unplug it and then plug it back in. power on and move the screen and see what happens. you may have a shield over it with a few screws.

It's not worth the effort if it's not the problem. I would do it if I didn't have the warranty. I don't mind sending it to lenovo because it doesn't take more than a week to turn it around. I just have to make sure I have a system to use.

Beside the stuttering part makes me think it's a bigger issue.

Edit: LCD just died on me. :( All I get are fading gray bars. Works with an external. Now I'm going to be waiting for my Thinkpad and M17x.

yeah, im not the waiting type if i can fix it. and since I AM computer repair/services/sales & networking..they say fix it first and if it cant be done, then send it in.

I know, jinxed myself. I can definitely fix it myself if need be but the last time I sent my system into lenovo they basically sent me back a new system. I wouldn't mind that again. I already called it in and they said 1-3 business days to get the box and 5-7 business days after that for the repair.

Also I'm kind of hoping they run out of parts and send me a W500 ;)
