I was just about to ask that same question. CS told me the case is backordered and due in May 17 then it can go into production... we'll see.

    m17x order timeline:

Apr 29th at 5:29 eastern - Ordered (June 3rd estimated ship date)

Apr 30th - email from AW saying that they would put a rush on my order

May 1st - email from billing that my order was paid in full

May 1st - email from AW forums admin saying they would assign someone to keep an eye on my system during production

May 18th - email sent to AW requesting order status update (as the order status web site still has me in phase 1)

May 20th - email from AW saying my order was in phase 3 and that the estimated ship date is still June 3rd but is only an estimate and "depends on how the system moves through the production cycle and on the availability of parts."

So, anyone care to guess what the actual ship date of my system will be? other then after June 3rd.

Gratz on the earliest ship date I have heard of.

    Can anyone beat Guyver's date?

Heres another betting pool for everyone: Who gets bragging rights as the first to receive their order?

Didn't Chaos Crisis claim first to place an order?

I don't see why there should be any, they've had more than enough time with the m15x, and lots of other companys are selling pretty much the same system without problems. I think it'd put a nail in the coffin for Alienware if there was any, as I said before it's one thing to make a mistake, but to make the same mistake twice??

Dell M1730 just came out with a single hard drive 320GB 7200rpm (16MB cache). When do you think the m17x with come out with it?

I called Alienware and they told me that they had no idea. I hope they come out with it this week so that I can still change my order. I am still in phase 4.

Never mind. Alienware just released it. I changed my order from 200GB to 320GB. They were both at 7200rpm and 16MB cache memory :D

in a word no, the chassis needs to be different in its entirety to have montevina put in it.

@bebarhood: i'm stuck in phase 3 also, with the order status page still on phase 2. I have an expected ship date of June 2nd, but that sadly isn't going to happen...

I wonder what the hold-up is, I have the earliest ship date i've heard of and they haven't started building it, have they started on anyone's m17x?

@chaoscrisis: Yep, my order was also put on rush. I also suposedly have someone keeping an eye on it or something like that.

I'm getting a bit pissed off, if the m15x comes out in black soon then i will probably jump ship on the m17x.

Yeah mine had a "rush" put on it too (supposedly by Jose Laraque) and the now former employee, Steve Lopez, was supposed to have someone keep en eye on mine too. Well now CS is telling me that the cases (which according to CS has the mobo and camera built in) have been the delay and are supposed to be released to production on friday (June 9). If they get released, the ship date would be either the 13th or the 17th.

    Everybody holding their breath?!

i was told i had ordered the first m17x and this supposed rush order so they shouldn't be back ordered on it since according to their alien network web cast they had already received everything are they just trying to make themselves look good and falling through on their claims

well based upon what Franklin (the CS supervisor) I spoke with last week. He said that they actually have the parts but they have not been released to production. Which I interpreted as they are trying to solve problems before they ship out the first batch. (as compared to what they did with the m15x)

it seems to me that they should have worked out all the kinks before the released the system since they claim it to be the best of the best when it comes to gaming notebooks i would expect a bit more from such a company that stands for such excellence in customer satisfaction of high quality and price, It is not like i am buying another $1500 notebook we are talking about $7200 here

Really, there is no such thing as a supervisor of CS. I don't even remember how many "supervisors" I've had to go through. They are just as bad as the regular agents.

TS: "Sorry sir the M5550 is a advanced laptop and you will have to send it back to get your mouse button replaced"
Me: "Can't you just send someone out here to do it, it won't take that long"
TS: "Alienware laptops are very customized and a agent who came to your house would have trouble replacing it."
Me: "But its based off of the Uniwill motherboard and you did not even manufacture the chassis"
TS: "Sir, I do not know what Uniwill is, but I assure you the M5550 needs to be shipped back to us, on site service cannot be offered at this time."

AKA: We don't want to give you onsite service :)... This was supervisor by the way

I am new the this forum and and actually in a way relieved that i am not the only one waiting for my system to arrive with problems occurring. i was informed that the server is down or something and that is why on the website the order status is not updating. I have called alienware many times in the last two weeks asking about an estimated ship date and they have told me the same thing every time. "We are waiting on a part that had been delayed, try calling back next week for us to give u a more accurate estimated ship date." I am in a way happy if there are problems with the system that they are not going to waste my time by shipping it just for me to ship it back. Has anyone recieved their system yet? I read early on in the thread someone said theres shiped in may, and they were going to post an unboxing video.

Welcome to the Forum. As for now, no one has recieved their m17x. It hasn't been shipped yet. We were all told that the m17x is still waiting for some parts to get in and that we have an estimated ship date around mid June. Even the people who got an estimated ship date of June 3rd and still waiting for the laptop. No one has an m17x yet. This is a typical ting from Alienware. Try not to be frustrated and just get used to it because you will face problems later on. ;)

I've been all over the forums and have not seen anyone mention an M17x being shipped yet. Maybe it was an M15x? We're all still waiting ( some patiently, others not so much ;) ) for our M17x's.

I just spoke with AW CS now and was told that the cases are not being released to production until the LAST week of June. Which given their track record means not really June.

So I am seriously thinking about cancelling my order. I don't really think I'll go Sager or anything, maybe rethink the whole laptop thing in the first place.

I so wanted to sit on my couch, watch my 42" plasma while playing EQ2 or whatever. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe duct tape a keyboard and flat screen together, all plugged into a tower sitting next to the couch?!

They say that patience is a virtue but I tell you AW is really trying to run themselves out of business. I can only imagine that they received some directive from Mama Dell telling them to push out this platform and when they had so many problems with the m15x that they wouldn't let that happen again. So I understand a delay if they told us that, but this whole waiting on parts thing is getting ridiculous.

Why announce the product? trying to stave off customers from going to competitors? well their lack of readiness and most of lack of communication is going to do that for them.

    sorry for the rant...
